2 x 315w = 1kw HPS - i can roll with that
2 x 315w = 1kw DE HPS - not too sure about that

Right on. It takes 3 x 315 = 1kw DE in terms of PPF.

Im trying to decide between cycloptic greenbeem, 2 of them, a sunsystem 315 lec, two of those, or a d-papillon 630w, or nanolux chm 630, or dimlux 630, for a 4.5 x 4.5 veg. Any thoughts? I been reading this thread to help me decide, lots of good info, im at like page 21 and will continue my research tomorrow but in the meantime it would be good to get any input.

What amount of space are you vegging with this?

With a single fixture (with daylight bulb) I can cover approx 2m² (120*180 or 4*6)

Old pic....but obviously it depends on the speed of growth you're looking for...the µmol will be always the same and by modifying areas, you will change the ppfd...

^^ good luck. i could not find one when I was looking to buy last fall. fucked up distribution in the US now, by the distributor you will be referred to local CA hydro shops that don't even know they sell it much less have one in stock.

LI really blew it and should have settled their issues with DGS properly. Cant believe how much they have fucked up. kids at business.

^^ and I say that as someone who has an epap and likes it very much. wanted to get a Double D so i could only have one reflector to replace and after a good amount of effort and emailing with distributor i had to give up.

Went with GreenBeams instead and in hindsight it was a better choice for my small veg space anyway so nothing lost but the experience was a dissapointment

I encourage you not to over think it. If you want the best quality hardware, then running fixtures w/ Philips ballasts at 240v is probably the way to go. If you want to limit upfront costs, a dual lamp fixture serves the purpose. Any of the options you mention will likely do an excellent job in the space you describe. Hell- my less than optimal converted Supersun2 does a great job in a 4x4 space.

People who are already set up for forced air reflector cooling might want to take a look at the Phantom system & the optional kit-

Even though there's less heat the technique is still very useful. I'd have played hell keeping temps down in my space w/o it at 1000w. At 630w, I get to dial the fan down considerably for less noise.

Fasho. Well after overthinking it and researching till like 3 in the morning, I decided that im going to see if i can get ahold of a double d pap incase i upgrade Ill be set, if i cant find one of them its either sun system or nanolux and maybe even greenbeam. Ill jus go to the hydro shop n see what they workin with n what price is n whatnot.

I thought I'd put my thoughts out there after finishing up my second run with a double d-pap from start to finish.
I've only used it boosted over 100% a couple of times when I had air con for a week or 2 on the first run with the light,
I mostly run it between 85% - 100% when flowering now depending on temps and 50% - 70% for vegging.
I used to run a standard dimmable lumatek 600w with an air cooled hood and it doesn't come close to this double d-pap,
even running the d-pap at 85% is better than the full boosted hps and every thing just seems healthier under it including my eyes so I will never be going back to hps.
some pics of what I've grown under it

Nice work. I've never understood the rationale for less light in veg nor had the equipment to do it. Not in a single chamber setup like mine, anyway. I can understand that commercial growers might want to regulate the growth of a particular batch for scheduling purposes- slow them down so that the batch ahead has time to finish, or example.

My twin 315/930's are either on or off. Seedlings thrive on the intense light, don't get spindly reaching for the light at all but rather have short internodes & luxuriant foliage once they get going. I suppose I could save a little on the power bill by running just one lamp early on & setting the plants closer to the light in beer cups but that runs contrary to the less work/ low maintenance/ fewer steps grow methods I'm trying to implement.

When I came back to growing 3 years ago I germed in paper towels, started in small dixie cups, then beer cups, then 1 gal & finally into 3 gal pots. In the meanwhile, I learned to skip the small dixie cups & use 5 gal pots for flowering. This time around, I'm going from paper towels to 1 gal airpots w/ blumats & then up to 5 gal fabric pots. If that works well I may just try germing fems in paper towels & planting directly in the 5 gal containers. I think I'll def need full light coverage of the space to do that.

Hey thanks Jhhnn and I dim it in veg cos I don't think I need any more than 315w for a 4 x 4 tent for just vegging and I can save a few quid in dimming it,
its supposed to throw more blue the double d-papp though when dimmed and I do get nice tight internodes and bushy growth strain dependent of course from it and I only dim it in flower if temps are to high.
Both grows under this light have been in organic 10 gallon airpots and water only but yeah I'm very impressed with it and I like the dim feature which is pretty handy for me especially on warmer days.

big up rasta

...My last grow of cantaloupe skunk was my best yield yet, an honest 500g of trimmed bud + 120g of close trim & popcorn from a 4x4 space...

Hey folks. I've been away for a month or so packing/moving/unpacking/etc. Just getting caught up on this thread as I'm about to pull the trigger on my lighting. Right now I'm back on post 1145ish but had to ask Jhhnn about his Cantaloupe Skunk. Is that Insane Seed Posse's gear? If so, how is it? I have their Orange Diesel and ChemD on an order form that I'm itching to send. Not many reviews of their gear though.

Any threads out there doing bare bulb vertical with these? Any gain from combining with HPS in a stacked vertical? I'm considering a 210CMH hanging below a 400HPS with 6-8 plants surrounding in a 4x4 space. I can fit two of these in my room along with a couple of 2x2 210CMH Phantom SOG's. I'm so anxious to get started but will get the environment right first.

THIS THREAD IS OUTSTANDING! Thanks Rives!!!

Wow!! They crossed out the list price and wrote a higher number tho!

i saw that too, and it is more than one fixture. they have higher than list prices on all the LI fixtures...

Not exactly confidence inspiring:

"Here is everyone else's price, but look - Ours is even higher!"

asking $70 over list on an epap 600w, whaaa?
