2 x 315w = 1kw HPS - i can roll with that
2 x 315w = 1kw DE HPS - not too sure about that
Right on. It takes 3 x 315 = 1kw DE in terms of PPF.

What amount of space are you vegging with this?
Im trying to decide between cycloptic greenbeem, 2 of them, a sunsystem 315 lec, two of those, or a d-papillon 630w, or nanolux chm 630, or dimlux 630, for a 4.5 x 4.5 veg. Any thoughts? I been reading this thread to help me decide, lots of good info, im at like page 21 and will continue my research tomorrow but in the meantime it would be good to get any input.
I thought I'd put my thoughts out there after finishing up my second run with a double d-pap from start to finish.
I've only used it boosted over 100% a couple of times when I had air con for a week or 2 on the first run with the light,
I mostly run it between 85% - 100% when flowering now depending on temps and 50% - 70% for vegging.
I used to run a standard dimmable lumatek 600w with an air cooled hood and it doesn't come close to this double d-pap,
even running the d-pap at 85% is better than the full boosted hps and every thing just seems healthier under it including my eyes so I will never be going back to hps.
some pics of what I've grown under it

Nice work. I've never understood the rationale for less light in veg nor had the equipment to do it. Not in a single chamber setup like mine, anyway. I can understand that commercial growers might want to regulate the growth of a particular batch for scheduling purposes- slow them down so that the batch ahead has time to finish, or example.
My twin 315/930's are either on or off. Seedlings thrive on the intense light, don't get spindly reaching for the light at all but rather have short internodes & luxuriant foliage once they get going. I suppose I could save a little on the power bill by running just one lamp early on & setting the plants closer to the light in beer cups but that runs contrary to the less work/ low maintenance/ fewer steps grow methods I'm trying to implement.
When I came back to growing 3 years ago I germed in paper towels, started in small dixie cups, then beer cups, then 1 gal & finally into 3 gal pots. In the meanwhile, I learned to skip the small dixie cups & use 5 gal pots for flowering. This time around, I'm going from paper towels to 1 gal airpots w/ blumats & then up to 5 gal fabric pots. If that works well I may just try germing fems in paper towels & planting directly in the 5 gal containers. I think I'll def need full light coverage of the space to do that.
...My last grow of cantaloupe skunk was my best yield yet, an honest 500g of trimmed bud + 120g of close trim & popcorn from a 4x4 space...
Hey folks. I've been away for a month or so packing/moving/unpacking/etc. Just getting caught up on this thread as I'm about to pull the trigger on my lighting. Right now I'm back on post 1145ish but had to ask Jhhnn about his Cantaloupe Skunk. Is that Insane Seed Posse's gear? If so, how is it? I have their Orange Diesel and ChemD on an order form that I'm itching to send. Not many reviews of their gear though.
Any threads out there doing bare bulb vertical with these? Any gain from combining with HPS in a stacked vertical? I'm considering a 210CMH hanging below a 400HPS with 6-8 plants surrounding in a 4x4 space. I can fit two of these in my room along with a couple of 2x2 210CMH Phantom SOG's. I'm so anxious to get started but will get the environment right first.
THIS THREAD IS OUTSTANDING! Thanks Rives!!!
I found a source for the double d-papillon fixture.
In Arizona, website, http://blueearthsustainable.com
Very expensive without bulbs.
Wow!! They crossed out the list price and wrote a higher number tho!
