It's weird; living in Oregon and seeing massive billboards for recreational cannabis everywhere and being able to walk into any dispensary (there are more clubs than Starbucks here now) to buy any one of 50 types of weed, that there are still so many places where people can go to jail for simply having a roach, or a company would be stupid enough to reject millions of dollars in business over the 'immorality' of cannabis production.

It's a gold rush here; there are real estate companies that now openly specialize in building grow warehouses to suit. Electricians openly advertise 'grow room electrical upgrades'. City inspectors stroll through basements full of cannabis plants to approve these improvements without even batting an eye.

It's a crazy world we're living in.

It's been much the same here in Denver, although the price of entry doesn't allow for truly small retail growers.

The Welthink 315 Ballast and Mogul adapter arrived today. All working as it should. I popped in a 930 Argo. I have a 942 on the way. Will swap it when it gets here. At least I have these 930 as spare's if needed.

I ordered 5 PHILLIPS 315 CMH 's from Seattle Hydroponics. I talked to Kevin and he has been making and using these for years. The man knows what hes talking about and has been in business since 1981. I got a great deal because I made a bulk purchase and averaging 325 a piece including shipping. Any questions you have about these lights he will be more than happy to answer. I hope this helps some of my fellow members on here.

It would be very helpful if you could post some pictures when they arrive. The last ones that were linked here were extremely rough, and it would be great to see the current work being offered.

Whats the difference between t9 and t12?? both will fit in the same socket.

The T9 lamp has a single-jacket and is meant for use in enclosed fixtures only.

The T12 lamp has a double-jacket and can be used in either open or enclosed fixtures.

The socket that you have is apparently meant for an enclosed fixture and will accept either lamp. Sockets built for open fixtures are supposed to be designed so that the T9 lamps will not fit. The only sockets that I've seen are the type that will accept either lamp, but that is the theory behind them.

I order a lamp from HS and they have the listing all messed up. It says its a t9 for use in a open fixture. That's not possible. Has to be a T12 to use in a open fixture. There telling me I ordered the wrong bulb when that's not the case. It clearly says 942 for use in a open fixture. Then it says its a T9 bulb. So some conflicting info. Im trying to explain it to these people.

Here is the listing for a T9 that says for open fixture use..

That ad is screwed up.

The lamp picture is of a T12, the pdf file linked in the title also says the same thing that the ad copy does - that it is a T9 with a "unique open rated lamp construction" and "suitable for open fixture use".

It doesn't exist.

I tried to tell them that. I was getting pissed he was implying there would be a restocking fee.

They make a XXL air cooled reflector that I think would be perfect hydro farm in the USA builds them , I used them on a large legal research grow in Canada .
I am very interested in any and all feedback on these lights .

I've run anywhere from about 30" above the canopy to within a couple of inches of touching the glass when I ran out of room. The GreenBeams are actually meant to be rigidly mounted, so the clearance could be substantially more.

You can search the large CMH thread for tenthirty's posts to verify this, but if I recall correctly, he found the 315s to be pretty equivalent to 600w HPS.

Each 315 will use 342 watts with the ballast losses included, so they should be very close to half the consumption of 600's and just under 1/3 of 1000's.

The 630's are still basically the same fixture, just with two of everything that I discussed above. It would be interesting to see how even their light distribution is with two lamps mounted in one reflector like that - it seems like the hot spots from overlap would be damn near inevitable. At that price, I think that I would go for the Cycloptics gear and hit Flip (the owner) up for a discount. I'm pretty sure that he will work with you.

So have you received the lamp, or not?

If not, you may actually receive a T12. Resellers can make mistakes when they stock & sell items under their own part # & write their own copy rather than using the manufacturer's.

No I have not. I told them to make sure it was for a open fixture. Thats when this mess started.

The T12 lamp has a double-jacket and can be used in either open or enclosed fixtures.

It's the same deal as any mogul base growlight I've ever seen. At 1000w, they'll fire MH lamps not intended for use in open fixtures. Sockets that won't fire E rated MH won't fire HPS so growlight makers don't use them.

There's really no excuse for that wrt open CDM commercial grow light fixtures. I've never fiddled with one but they really should have the T12 only PGZ-X exclusionary lampholder. I don't know how they can be UL approved if they don't. Socket adapters & bare lampholders are a different deal entirely.

Well, if it's on the way you'll find out soon.

Sometimes email is the way to deal with people who think they're right but aren't. Send them to the source-

http://www.lighting.philips.com/us_en/connect/tools_literature/downloads/PLt-1414BN_v1.pdf

Point out that the only 315/942 lamp that carries the Ansi C182/O open fixture rating is the Philips 23809-7 CDM ELITE MW 315/T12/942/U/O & that's what you want. That's what you thought they'd send when they said it's open fixture rated because that's what's pictured on the web page.

If they see it any other way, send it back & dispute the charges through your credit card. I've only had to do that a few times over the years & the merchants have always faded quickly. It's not worth their trouble to fight the CC company.

Meanwhile, you have 930's, right? I have 'em too & they work great, seed to harvest.

Good luck with it all.

No they did not ship it. He said they pulled the order so they will have to start a return. He was giving me the impression they where going to add on a restocking charge because I ordered the wrong bulb when that's not the case. They got that listing all messed up. I saw 4200k for open fixture use. I ordered the right bulb according to there description. There is no such thing as a T9 open fixture bulb.

Hello rives. Yes I agree there not going to win a fashion contest but I'm sure there going to suit my needs. All good parts Phillips ballast and bulb. He stands behind his product with a warranty and just a phone call away. Anyway I'm glad I found this thread because i might of stuck with 1000 watt HPS. Sounds like I will save on electric and end up with more potent medicine. IMG_1220.jpg

A restocking charge and the merchandise was simply "pulled"? I think that it might be a good idea to let them know that you would contest the charge with your CC company and spread the word on every forum on the internet about their business practices.....
