Philips 315w CDM Elite (CMH)

Compare spectrum graphs to see if there's any difference. I would guess the components used in crunch are not the same quality as what Phillips uses?. Phillips is not a cannabis friendly vendor. They have pulled there bulbs from business in this field. It doesn't matter who's bulbs we use there will always bee some bulbs that are faulty. I use all GC bulbs. They will back there bulbs warranty.

you are probably rite that Philips uses better components then hydro crunch...BUT.... both hydro crunch's are still working fine … these bulbs are fragile for sure, and seeing how fedex/usps treats packages , can see why there are so many failures...

A few years back Philips developed a second generation of CMH bulbs that produced 20% more lumens/watt than these ones. They called it cdm evolution ...and it's already discontinued. That should tell you everything you need to know about Phillips interest in this technology now. LED efficiency has finally broken through and their focus has shifted to that big time.

I mentioned these dual 500w cmh lights awhile ago. My good friends over at Growers choice are sending me a few to test out for them. These use 2 500w t12 bulbs. I'm retiring my old de 630 cmh fixtures.

Introducing the MASTER PURSUIT series 1000-watt CMH grow light system: Industrial-Grade power with dual ultra high-efficiency 500-watt Ceramic Metal Halide lamps. Delivers DEEP canopy penetration with broad-true full horticultural spectrum from top to the very bottom. Focus-designed for specialty flowering plants and bio-engineered to replicate and harness the full brilliance of the sun. Enables growers to mix spectral color levels for optimal development for each stage of growth. Adjusting specific spectrum color levels creates unique recipes for maximum cannabidiol and terpenes quality. Available option of 240v plug or 277v (either pigtailed or twist lock option).

Rives.. I've read the majority of this thread over time but I'm old and memory escapes me sometimes.. Let me ask about the mixing of CMH and HPS. I am now running 2x 315 cmh in an old but new grozilla hood. Everything is MARVELOUS! Best looking plants I've had. But as I lurk, reading other threads and remembering (sometimes I can remember:biggrin:) all the written goodness of HPS and the red spectrum.. Curiosity makes me ask: might they might be good together. 315w cmh with 600w hps. Things are going so good with just the 315x2 configuration I just have to over think this thought. I should leave well enough alone.

Hope all is well in your world...:tiphat:

Lots of people run HPS/CMH mix. This is why I like the dual 315/500 fixtures. Running mixed spectrum works very good for me. I use 3 and 4k bulbs in ea hood. No HPS.

Quality is really great.. there is no doubt CMH bust HPS...

Phillips 1000 DE bulb have CRI of 37,while those Phillips CMH over 90 CRI..

its logical CMH will win anyday, while still DE will give biggest buds..

I'm running 240W Quantum Board w/ extra red alongside a 3000K CMH in a 4 x 4.5' space... it's not hurting anything, lol!

I'm a little north of you, and I know I couldn't use a 600W HPS and a 315 in the the summer without harvesting pre-decarbed buds, lol!

Rab C - Yes. Right at 5 on one. 6.5 on the other. 9 on the CBD plant. All were from seed, so it's not like it was a dialed room or anything either. I'd like to see 1.5+ this next round. That'd put me in the 1g per watt range.

One of my Phillips ballasts in my flip unit is putting out about 25% less. Is there anything specific to look for, or is it just replacement time? I thought, perhaps, that it would be rather binary, either working or not.

The set of 4 ballasts are about 3 years old and they've always been kept cool.

I found this issue after getting one of those lux testers and setting a frame of reference for all of the bulbs.

Those are beautiful flowers, Frank! I've been running the bulbs for going on 4 years now and I still struggle to get half that.

I've read many of your posts, as well as a number of other great hive minds here, and I appreciate the inspiration.

I have the 2 x 315 in 2.5' x 5'. Lights sit over a 58 gallon soil bed, so the plants have a bit over 7 gallons of root space each. That's more than adequate room to produce plants much larger than these lights can actually handle.

The greatest limiting factor for yield this last round was number of plants, air flow and temperatures. I just flowered the females I had from the seeds, this round I have a full bed with 8 plants instead of 3. Temps were high 80's and even low 90's at times.

Changes have been made. This next round will be MUCH better quality across the board. I know the genetics are capable of more than what I've gotten from them so far.

Now that I know what a 4+oz plant looks like under these lights and in this room, If I get 3oz per plant, I hit that 1.5 mark. It should be entirely possible.

i run bare bulb vert donut with a 600hps on top then 2 315's tip to tip of bulbs (bottom bulb pointing up), bout 3" apart….i'm getting much better yields treating the 2 as basically 1 light then i was separating them 12-16"…

sorry... yes that's 2oz per plant - last time I grew 2 old sour diesel from reeferman (prob 12-15yrs old) , 2 of aces Zamdelicia , and 2 josh d's - none are auto's, the zam and josh d's r fem seeds, the sour d was a regular seed- grew one of each in a fabric pot (7gall) and one of each in plastic (5gall) - the output is really close, maybe the nod is to plastic by a nose...

I see lots of guys getting 3,4,5 oz's per plant or all I can say is WOW- even under 1000w hps/mh, we were getting 2, or a shade (small shade ) more ….
