it is very different, for sure
mogul style base, burns VERY HOT, like MH 1kw. 2 layers of glass like t12 315w's.
also the 860's MUST be mounted vertically or only up to a 15 degree angle from vertical - according to all the specs.

more like a traditional MH than new school CMH

i ran mine on a 1kw magnetic ballast for MH and it worked fine.
imo i'd not bother with it, the new CMH's are significantly better than older CMH

Running this lamp on core and coil you get 30 percent less light, on a lfsw digital this lamp will hold its own against the 315, its also 4000 kelvin.

The New Phantom II 315 Ballast is here. I will get some temp measurements done later. This 1 will be running on 240v.

I found the problem... I use a VPN service. I was logged in to Canada it would not load. I changed it to Florida it now loads the website.

Are you going to keep LEC or make changes?

I took some temp measurements on the Phantom II 315 @240V.. Massive difference from the original Phantom 315. The IR gun reads 80f. Touching it I cant feel any heat. Holding it is not uncomfortable. . I will try again after its been on for 6hrs.

Would you have to wire the hood and a cord/plug to that phillips ballast? Sounds like a good deal.

It's too bad that Philips marketing & information is so screwy. They have a huge family of lower wattage CDM that might well be adaptable to growers' purposes if we could just figure it out. They don't make that easy. They even have some nifty reflectorized CDM-R & CDM-Rm lamps that might be useful-

If I had the money & the years I'd probably play with that but I'm currently very happy with twin 315's in my 4x4 space. MY photography is shitty as always, but this is the current mixed grow at 5 weeks of 12/12-

Temp control was always marginal w/ a 1000w lamp but this hits the sweet spot.

I could increase yield w/ longer veg but I'm always growing something different so I have to allow for unusual stretch. There's always plenty of great smoke & plenty of variety which is all I really care about.
