PH problem?

P

PersonalSmoke

Well my plants just seem to be getting worse and worse, unfortunately. In a recent thread was told that the PH was the problem here, and I fixed that with the last watering, but they still seem to be getting worse and worse. I also stopped overwatering. I was told to feed them, but after I did so some appeared to be getting burned. They are in a 50:50 mix of FFOF and Light warrior, under a 4000w mh, were just put into new, bigger pots a few days ago, and the temps range from 75 to 82 degrees. I'm not trying to spam these boards with multiple threads, I just want to know if these look hungry, or overfed, or it just looks like a ph problem. If it appears to be a PH problem then it looks like I'll be taking the long haul to my hydro store to get a digital PH meter. I feel that if I let these problems continue then my first crop will fail and I'll have to start over, which would suck.

What soil did you use to transplant them into bigger pots? They look burned. You should dump that junk out and use plant friendly sprout mix. See how to make a soilless mix in my signature. There is also hints on buying your soil mix too. You could then use the pureblend ferts just fine. You should invest in some sort of ph checking tool. Ferts mixed into your soil at planting is going to leave you guessing.

They are in a 50:50 mix of FFOF and Light warrior. At this point I really don't believe that the soil is burning them, they have been in it since seedlings and only burned after I gave them a low dose of PBP about a week ago.

Your going to be left guessing with preenriched soil like ffof. You should put them in a neutral soil with nothing but dolomite lime or gypsum. Then add your ferts in the water.

That looks like bad soil ....either to dense...i problem i just had before i got a bale of promix...or acidic ph.....one thing for sure..they need to come off of the cold floor...put them on a crate and cover the floor with a few towels or a rug then add a black plastic bag for water proofing..put some air holes around the lower portion of the pots on the sides for extra airation.....
I have to say it looks like cold wet acidic roots.....soil tends to dry on the top but stay wet (dense)in the lower half of the pot ( more air holes) if you like to water it will never be really dry....but you wont know it.....flip one out gently...see if there is any new healthy root growth beyond the half way point of the pot....i would think not....nutes arent getting to the plan via roots because thre are none....check soil ph....not run off.....take a sample from top, mix with water and check it.....
Its not the plants......its you and something your not doing....hows the humidity 40-70%....too low and those results will also happen....seal that closet in plastic ( use garbage bags and tape...you need to keep tweaking that enviornment to get it right....ive had the same problem on the start of many grows when im somewhere new.....also consider soiless like promix or add alot of perilite and some lime..to the light warrior soil.....
like the dood before me said....hang in there those plants will recover....they should be growing at least a half inch a day......that little space needs to be enclosed with plastic and warm like a greenhouse......
It will happen......

Hello all,
Ive had this before and what I realized was nutrient lockout.Take ph readings with the flushed water then adjust accordingly, mine was usually up.What ferts are you using?

As of right now I'm not using any nutes, just those in the Fox Farm soil. I'm going to buy a proper ph meter tomorrow. Right now I'm using the drops that change the color of the water which you compare to the side of the bottle - not very accurate.

Get the meter and get dialed in. Nothing better than ruling out it isnt a ph problem. Other than that people get better information when its in one spot, starting numerous posts for the same problems will tire out even the best of plant doctors. Peace

I mix pearlite 50-50 with FoxFarms OF and it's good to go - it's a little strong for new plants out of the bag. More than a few growers here use OF and LW - still most add pearlite to aireate

Shouldn't need nutes for a couple weeks - if you transplant regurarly - that delays nutes some more

Your tap water might be part of the problem - ideally you want your water for the plants to be close to 6.0 PH

The plant needs to recover - so make your move and then quit fookin with it.

I'd mix some pearlite in, repot it and water (with PH 6.0) when it needs it - not until Continue like that for 10 days to two weeks

what you see is what was going on with the plant a while back - when you make 1 adjustment - it take time to show - when you make several adjustments - one may help and one may hurt - you won't know which - understand?

While your "getting" stuff - You will probably need PH down

Don't get frustrated - it gets easier

The little one shown in other post is in FFOF and 50% pearlite. I'm not famuliar with Light Warrior.

For around here - general watering I add 1/4 tsp PH down which drops my PH 7.0 tap water down to PH 6.0

FFOF and 50% pearlite is all I use, both for clones and for seed starts - normally eveybody in the garden likes it; - it's easily good for a couple weeks, and I usually transplant every 2-3 weeks.

I finally got the ph tester. Tested the soil today and the soil was bringing the ph down. I watered with the water adjusted higher and the runoff was 6.5. Thanks for the help and advice everyone.
