Help is needed fellas... Here's my problems..
I use solid gold as a medium. right out the bag I water my pups ph set at 6.5 coming in but the run off is 5.8.
also can I transplant a plant that is 2 weeks in flowering to a bigger pot??? thanks
What medium do you use? depending on if your mixture is soiless your pH may not be off......
never heard of soild gold; you got a link to it online?
Yes, you can transplant a plant into a bigger pot in flowering only if it is COMPLETELY necessary and you can do it quickly without damaging roots......
What size pot is she in now and how big is the plant?
pH adjusting water is not going to control your soil pH, you will have to add stuff to your soil depending on if you need it up or down. Stuff like Peat, coffee grounds are acidic will bring your pH down, if you need it up then you need to add dolomite lime to your mixture.
I would show what mixture you are using first before making changes, because your pH may be just fine if it's soiless; if not then you will need to add lime to your mixture to bring the pH up.
heya Stitch..remember our convo about the ph...i agree with you on those remedies you said to lower ph...but i don't agree on the ph adjusting thing intirely....as a matter of fact ...PH - from the hydro store has saved my ass more then once...in soil and in soiless...i do wanne add that acids like lemon juice ,vinegar or plain acids are to unstable to correct mediums..in that case i would agree with you a 100 %
That's right, he did not say what pH adjuster he was using so I just assumed it was not pH stuff you buy from the hydro store;
ya, ph up and down does stay in the soil longer for some reason, I have not yet found any information pertaining to that and why; but I do know it does for some reason.....
So my bad if you are using pH up or down from the hydro store that will be alright.
Ya, thats why I was saying not to use it, because I figured he was using something other than pH adjusters from the hydro store
Black gold is a soiless mixture with a few soil additives; it's more considered soiless so your pH is fine; do not adjust it.
What pH adjuster are you using? Did you buy it from a store or hydro store?
'd just make sure the solution you water with is PH balanced when you water since the medium already sounds PH balanced. As long as your water solution is between 5.5 and 7 PH, you should be fine.
He would have to use a pH adjuster that is stable like pH down or up; I would not pH adjust your water at all really; your soil is already adjusted so I would just mix nutrients and water when you need to.
If the runoff is 5.8, he is fine. Because as the soil dries out the PH gradually rises in the medium because of the soils dry PH. This is excellent because his roots are getting a beneficial PH drift (yes sometimes this is good). When the soil is wet the micros being absorbed at the lower PH (5.8). As it starts to dry out the PH rises a little bit and allows more NPK uptake.
