Clean water (ice for beverages) was almost non-existent in the village clubs...50/50 for clubs located cities. If you ordered a mixed cocktail with ice or drank the water....you had the runs for a month! We called them "turtle trots"--one second you think you're cutting a tiny fart....the next thing you know your pants are full of shit; it took about 30 days before your body adjusted (solid poo and no more runs). I am sure it might be slightly different now...but that is how it was when I was there.

BTW....if you are a yank of average size, you definitely will stick out (as in "what's wrong with this picture?), most likely you will find yourself standing about a head taller than everyone else...and be the only person without black hair. So going "incognito" may not be an option.

Interestingly I would say there's probably less than 100 e-mail addresses publicly available relating to North Korea. That's including all their KFA reps, tourist agencies and government reps. Just about all of the North Korea e-mails bounce back because they're down or full.

The US would have defeated China if they had been willing to go all out and use nukes. I say "they" because I wasn't around then. General MacArthur wanted to use nukes to win the war. That's why Truman fired him. Nukes would have won the war, but it would have been the wrong thing to do. There's a reason why they haven't been used since the first two times.

America does nothing when North Korea tests nukes because we can't do anything. They have enough conventional weapons to destroy Seoul within minutes if we started a new war. Now they have nukes, which means no country will ever invade their territory.

You're right though. Debt from excessive spending will be what ruins America as a global superpower.

Thank you for your email. Unfortunately the information on the internet is not really correct regarding Marijuana and the DPRK. In certain areas- such as North Hamgyong Province Hemp grows in the wild but there is little if any THC content.

Most often it's merely used as a cheaper substitute for tobacco and is collected by individuals from the wild and sold in the private markets. There are no growers and there is no culture based around it either. It is possible to visit Rason as a tourist and buy it in the local market but you will find it doesn't have much of an effect. It's not cultivated or bred with that intent.
