Hi folks,
Sorry I haven't put an update up here in a while. I harvested these two ladies a couple of nights ago at day 66 12/12 but I haven't been 100% satisfied with how this run has turned out to put any pics up I'm afraid. For the next run I will definitely come out swinging!
I tried to get a bit too experimental with my soil mix this time around and it ended up being an uphill battle from start to finish. 'Hot' soil and ph problems all over but the girls made it to the finish line at least. I guess it's true that the growing medium makes the grow. I will be reverting back to my original soil mix for the next run in order to get things back on track. If it ain't broke, don't fix it eh???
I pulled 1 zip off each girl so I'm pretty satisfied with a 2 ounce yield. It will definitely keep me going till next harvest.
There were layers and layers of trichomes glistening all over the buds the whole way through and they actually looked quite good when it came time to cut them down so I can't be mad.
The buds have a beautifully fresh pine/hash smell to them so let's hope they taste as good as they smell. I'm keeping the temps in the drying room at 25°C and RH at 50% to keep the drying process slow. I will give them another two days on the drying rack and then I'll try a small tester bud while I cure the rest in jars. I'll get back to you with a smoke report then

Hey JD, sorry I didn't reply to you in so long. Those are some beautiful mushies ma' man. I love the name "Philosopher's Stone" too haha. Unlike El Bandito I've had nothing but good experiences with shrooms; trails following my fingers as I wave my hand in the air, my computer screen focussing in and out etc. Mary Jane is still my first love but fungi can be fun once in a blue moon

Hope your White Rhinos are going well friend. To answer your question, in veg I just water with plain water until flower and then add some fish emultion and black strap molasses until the final flush. How are yours going now?

I don't know how some of you are going to feel about this but last week I lashed out for some Green House Seeds Great White Shark beans for my next run. I feel like I've crossed over to the dark side lol but I wanna personally give these beans a go first and see if this company deserves all the hype.
I only have space in my setup at a time for two lucky ladies so at least 1 spot will be taken up with Great White Shark. A friend also gifted me some Female Seeds Iced Grapefruit recently so I might roll the dice with one of those as well. I've never heard of Female Seeds so if anyone can shed some light on them that would be great.

Hahah true mate! I must say your run with that SLH was a defining influence in my move over to GHS. You did that girl proud!
I know there are a lot of politics in the mix here but Arjan is obviously a very good businessman. Regardless of how people feel about his business practices, he knows what his customers want. I can only grow fem seeds so it seemed like a good, safe choice for me. Wish me luck!

I'm keen to start the next round off right so I lashed out for some seed raising potting soil below. I will start two girls off in plastic cups filled with this stuff. It's a sphagnum peat and coir mix with some light fertiliser added.
After they start to outgrow the cups I'm going to transplant them into a mix of the multi-purpose potting soil and perlite in 12L (3 Gal) bags:
This multi-purpose potting soil is the closest thing we have around here to FF Ocean Forest. Contains four month's worth of slow-release nutrients.

Well you got 2oz of smoke and another grow worth of priceless experience so I say thats a success any day.
Hell I got less than an oz dry weight from a 400w MH on my second grow ever. That was disappointing.
Hoping for better things next run for you.

Does that soil have small whitish/yellow balls in it? That would be the Osmocote. I use pounds of it by the tbsp every year planting annuals. If I remember, its activated by the heat of the soil. So since your grow temps are almost always going to be in the active heat range, you might burn through it in as little as 3 months.
Dont be surprised if you have to boost the ladies a bit in flower. I have to fertilize my flower beds all season. Then again, its an insult to dirt to call the dirt in my beds dirt.

Exactly mate! Two ounces is more than enough to get me through till next harvest. I'm very happy with how the run has turned out. I hope the buds will be as potent as they look
I will be popping my next set of beans as soon as the pack arrives in the mail. Tomorrow will be one week since I ordered them

Yes the bag does have small yellow and green balls mixed throughout actually. Because I will be transplanting the girls into this mix right as they switch to flower, three months will probably be the perfect timing for their nute schedule. Thanks for the heads up!
They will be in plastic cups with the seed raising mix for pretty much all of their veg cycle which will I'm hoping will give them some super healthy roots
PS. The White Rhinos have been curing in jars for two days now. Right now I'm trying to stabilize the humidity levels as the buds cure in the jars using mini-hygrometers. I'll try to have a smoke report up for you guys on the weekend as well as some cheeky bud pics!
Also, I got bored today and did a thorough clean out of my cab and switched out all my bloom equipment for my veg equipment. I've mixed up my soil mix and have the pots all ready to go......
......just waiting on the beans now

Hey wildgrow, sorry for the late reply mate. I'm in the process of moving offices into the city so things have been a bit hectic for me recently!
Now for the harvest update.
Smoke Report:
Not too much to report with this strain. I really enjoy smoking it, the smoke isn't too heavy when pulled through a bong and yet potent enough to put me in a blissful, relaxed state for about two hours. Again I had a whole day smoking sesh with a friend of mine taking back to back hits of this stuff and dominating online on NBA 2K13
Normally with a narcotic indica strain you would notice a complete dulling of the senses, including attention span throughout the high. With the White Rhino, I felt that same indica sensation of slipping into a nice warm bath, however my mental speed was unaffected. Crowded areas should still be avoided though, you will not feel like socialising or leaving the house. I made the mistake of going to a football match about an hour after vaping two grams!
Here are some pics of when these girls came down on 7th March (they've been comfortably curing for the past month):

These girls were done going by my magnifying glass and yet the buds weren't as dense as I would have liked. I'm sure that that was entirely my fault due to the bad soil mix the girls had to contend with. Can't be mad with this little crop though, 1½ zips should be just enough to get me through until the next chop.
Speaking of the next chop, for the past two weeks I've been growing up those two GHS Great White Shark girls that I was waiting for a couple of weeks back. They are doing really well in the new seed raising soil mix and they should be ready to transplant and flower in the next two to three weeks. If people are interested I will take a few snaps and might even start a new thread.
