well im impressed, that girl(fingers crossed) looks great :D. i really think you guys made the right choice by trimming her back. in regards to the seedlings you should wait until they get at least one more node of growth on them before introducing nutes.

edit: after looking at the pics and re-reading the post i realized they are all in the same res, so if they are alright with the current nute soluion it would be no big deal to switch out the type of nutes, just make sure you keep them at the same dilution you are at now.

DAY29 : DAY08 Flower

Not too much to see from yesterday but as you can see the plant is having no problem filling the room created with yesterdays pruning. Some of the side shoots are beginning to out grow the stem but we just keep tucking them away from the stem so that the topped stem can get the light it needs.

A shot of the seedlings, which were staked earlier today with wooden matches and hemp string, the bigger plant keeps growing in and pushing these 2 around.

We have about a pint of solution left in our current gallon and then we will keep to the same nute/water ratio but switch it over to a flowering solution. Thanks for the advice...

Little LST never hurt anyone. The side shoots are beginning to take over the case depriving our topped stem from light so hopefully tying down the 4 main shoots will hold them off long enough for this to properly develope.

Quick shot of the seedlings, which now have several roots extending into the reservoir now, it seems like the one pictured in the back is about a full day ahead of the one in front the back one had at least a day head start on reaching the nutrients. Speaking of nutrients it seems no matter how much i try to lower the Ph in the resevoir, which is about a half of a gallon, about 24 hours later its at about 6.1-6.5, should i try thoroughly rinsing the roots or is balancing the Ph once a day eventually going to become too much? Sorry for the noob questions...

this is some info i recieved about ph swings when dealing with hydro...

"If you PH tends to raise then it means your plants are eating more nutes, and if your PH tends to lower then it means your plants are drinking more water".

PPM and ph tend to be directly related. When plants eat a lot of nutes the ppm will drop and the ph will usually rise (from loss of lower ph nutes). When ppm rises, the ph sometimes falls a little because the plants are drinking more water than nutes (loss of higher ph water drops ph).

This does not always hold true but these factors are generally related.

DAY34:DAY13 Flower

Yo my bad guys theres been "company" the last few days and all I have to say is thank god for carbon scrubbers! I have a webcam that I would so enjoy to portforward so I can look at my baby any time but there arent vista drivers... so to make up for the past few days we took some extra pics.

Ok I had a few mins, to keep up with LST daily and keep a kind of "SOG" thing going. I have mostly been moving the branches around and tying them down so that all new shoots are recieving ample light... is this what I should be focusing on?

So no clue on the sex of the plant, but here are a couple nice shots of our shoots.

Pic of where we topped the plant and did some pruning. That wierd growth growing in the middle where we cut the plant, started a few days after we topped the plant (about 2 days into flowering)

And here are a couple shots of where we pruned the plant, and some of the growth that can be seen in those areas.

A pic of our babies who are still about a day apart but are both coming in nicely, any ideas on how long these girls being just a seedlilng going into 12/12 should take to show signs of sexxing?

Oh, and a shot of our roots.

start looking closely at about the 21 day mark if you havent reached it yet, most...but not all should start showing around this time.

and yes, its wise to lst in a manner that would allow maximum light penetration to all growth

Day36:Day15 Flower

Yesterday we threw in the flowering nutes not before giving the resevoir a nice rinse with just water for maybe an hour. Hopefully the introduction of phosphate will help our plant reveal whether its male or female.

Plant continues to grow more shoots with no signs of sexxing...

Here is a pic of the main stem where it was topped again.

Here is a quick shot of our seedlings which continue to grow in healthy with the current nutrient solution.

Would it make sense to purchase "Warm" CFL's for flowering and if so should i replace both bulbs inside with the "Warm" or should i stick to what we have been using?

switching the bulbs is a major good idea, the different spectrum will also coerce your plants to show sex.

heres some inspiration you guys i hope you dont mind :D

That inspiration has me out the door to buy some warm CFL's... quick question do i swap out both bulbs in the case or keep one on the bright white and one warm?

Had a little fun with photoshop after taking this pic of a pruned leaf...

Hey Jim/Dwight - plants looking really good guys, I really hope it's a girl! At least you have those two seedlings coming along nicely if your plant shows balls... :)

Thanks sammet we keep telling ourselves the same thing.

No balls! But no hairs... another day no sex. But today i will be running to the store and grabbing warm cfls to help things out in fact i dunno what i am waiting for i only have 9 hours of light left today...

Any ideas on how to preserve a pruned leaf?

Update with pics after the store

Hey Jim, I found If you place it inside a very heavy book like a dictionary or a phone book and leave it for a couple of weeks it comes out dry and crispy but perfectly flat. Then it should last for a long time unless you snap it :D

Day37:Day16 Flower AGAIN!

Day37:Day16 Flower AGAIN!

Thanks Sammet i have it in a book rite now, if i can carefully get it from there into a place where it wont get touched... i just need the souvenier of my first of many grows!

Ok some new CFLs pitctured above youve go the bright white x 2, then one of each, then a shot of both warm lights in...

My LST in action, its hard becuase this case is so small and i have 11 "shoots" and 2 seedlings that i am trying to give light and amongst the shortest are the 2 shoots growing where we topped the plant.

Seedlings are healthy, and developing a nice root system.

Ok could be false alarm but i can swear this is a white hair... i can can also swear that a cellphone cam is not capable of taking a better pictur so sorry hopefully more confirmation tomm

those pics indicate male from what i can see...unfortunately

that big ball at the base of the internode is a big hint...an external growth in a preflower location, that doesnt have 2 hairs coming out of it usually is indicative of a male. the next growths you would see in proper flower location (the base of the internode at the extending shoot of new growth) will be multiple groupings of the same type of "balls"

edit: its not all bad, you can still get some pollen if you want, and 2 red spectrum bulbs are best for flowering

...the fact that you have balls and no white hairs, if you see balls that even when small dont have white hairs means male or possible hermie

i still have hopes for the big plant...

like you described that node has 2 hairs which are very small coming out each side but these havent grown in about a day and i expected more from this. as for the ball of growth you are talking about i think that its a bad picture because that ball you are describing i think is just a small leaf at a bad angle that looks round if that is the ball you were talking about, but if not then we still have the seedlings!
