Hello and thankyou to everybody who has given their time to send compliments. It really does make the whole thing 100 times more satisfying. Sharing it with you in photos also means i have a very usefull log of my previous grow to help and improve with the next one. I wasn't waiting for anybody to ask me to post the dried harvest it really was instead a case of being so lazy. I think i suffer from "easy life syndrome". True to form, i kept putting it off and I let them go to long, plus its actually been respectable summer temperatures over here for the past few days (unbelievably non global warming summer over here this year in the uk). Eat shit Al conman Gore. I jarred them just last night. They are far too dry. They'd prolly have a bit under 10% more weight if they werent so dry and brittle.
the contents of the other jar weigh 18.4 so it pretty much 39g. I noticed i missed a bit of stalk and i could have manicured a bit more ruthlessly. There also 7.7g of airbud and about the same left on the plant to reveg (im not looking forward to smoking that airbud)- reveg btw is going well and there are several new leafy shoots already (pictures later). Next time im going to try and prune off the airbud but it can be nearly impossible to get in the jungle.
Now then, I am in the position where i have grown with a 150W hps 3 or four times before in a loudspeaker - albeit with a super huge acoustic duct fan +silencer/muffler cooling the thing. Without a doubt buds were denser under the hps. I wouldn't say that the choice buds are airy but they lack a bit of density to what i have been accustomed, and there is just more of the bud turning pale lower down, almost albino because light is blocked out. On the other hand they do look frostier and because the light is diffused pretty much perfectly, the quality of the top buds is good throughout.
Thanks for reading and happy growing adventures to all.
One thing i forgot to add is that my next attempt will be an organic DWC. No chemical nutes, or even labeled bottled organic nutes will be allowed! I'm hoping to use purely homemade fertilisers, we'll see, it may well end in disaster, or I may even have a new grow hydro method to name after myself . I have a novel idea i believe is 100% original to achieve this and if it works ill make sure icmag knows about it.
Looks awesome D.I.trY. Thanks to you and a few other posters I decided to use PL-L lights, and upon further research I'm thinking about making a LED/PL-L hybrid flower box. Check out the LED Lab 2009 thread http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=108442 and see if they can convince you too
thankyou so much guys. I will definately check out the LEDs achitechno. It is actually the only way i could add more light in there - when its the size of an led hehe. As soon as im convinced i'll be able to get them, wire them, and see the results ill hybridise my pc!
Scrub, thanks for all the help and encouragement along the way. You took one of my photos and made a diagram of how best to ventilate, and since then thats exactly how its been operating. I cant even say how long it might have taken me by myself haha.
Well the snails lol, you know the original snails lived for about two weeks but after that i didnt see them anymore. However they must have been busy because a couple weeks after that there were many very tiny little offspring. It was sort of scary coz they were skirting along healthy roots. I dont think they were sight-seeing. they were eating the fuckign roots. its actually a common problem in aquaponics, so i've been reading. They did help very well by eating that slime i had though! Anyway the high salt content of the nute solution killed them through osmosis, i'm pretty sure, because they didnt last very long. I must make a mental note not to introduce snails by mistake for my organic dwc method im gonna try.
Mad props to you D.I.Try!!! You produced better results with a smaller case and wattage!! Good show bro, congrats!! Looks like we are both inviting disaster with our next run, heh we wouldn't have it any other way right??
Thankyou so much Aerohead. Its great to have someone like you here who is so serious about exploring the physical limits of pc growing that you inspire so many to join in the fun after seeing your amazing modifications. Well that was a longwinded sentance! But i'm right now very stoned on my own supply I think its safe to say that an aeroponic PC system is VERY marketable - you could have a different kind of opportunity here!
Its great to have a bit of friendly competition to push those limits, but i better enjoy this very brief moment because your new fogging system looks like the bomb. As I remember you said before, you want to run into flower with higher density of nodes next time - couple that with your super fine fog and you'll blow me out of the water [vapour] haha! I was lucky you know that i had only 50% males - just one more male and the pictures would have looked quite different!
I'd rate my chances of making a success out of my next strange idea less than your already proven aeroponic method and needless to say i have confidence in you. I like your attitude! Best of luck in all your future endeavours my friend which i know you will sharing with all of us. For me a big challenge of doing a pc grow right, and all other for that matter, is just being proactive and never denying to yourself that something doesnt need fixing or improving. I won't lie that i resent the occasional chores. I really MUST change that damn water the reveging plant is sitting in and give it more veg feed. Changing the water with the tap and drain so far away, mixing the nutes, checking with meters etc - i hate that stuff sometimes. I hope that's ok to admit, but also normal?
I'll give a little clue on my idea and if it turns out that it has merit and someone perfects it before me id be both pleased and heartbroken! It involves fermenting common household foods selected for the elemental content of the big three (npk) and bubbling them in a sort of DIY teabag in the dwc. i might use a micro supplement like liquid kelp although there are also plenty of micros in mollases. All this will be supercharged with compost teas absolutely teeming with microbiological life. Souns like a ton of work and i'm moaning about mixing chemical nutes? I've been moaning my whole life tho, Hah! We'll see....
Hey fantastic thread and grow you have! I just read through the whole thing and wished I had seen your thread earlier!
I wont be doing a pc grow(although maybe in future) but I am just using a 70w HPS for a micro sog. You guys really inspire future Micro Growers to actually try it!
Thanks alot MK3jetta, and i'm impressed you read the whole thread. Its a bit of a mess because there's a lot of modifications and evolution from the first post but i hope theres some stuff you could take from it!
I took this just now, reveg is going pretty well don't you think for so soon? Might have something to do with the fact they got a very long flower.
I've had the buds in the jars for over a week now and they taste a world apart to that harsh nasty taste when they were first dry. I also think i was wrong to say they were too dry, they seem perfect now some moisture has come out from the core. they have evenly distributed the moisture by being sealed in the glass. The bottoms of the buds are not as good quality as the top of the buds because they recieved much less light due to denisity. The top inch and half/ two inches of all the buds is really the best stuff, below that its more airy and leafy and quality degrades.
I hope it will only get better as it cures. I need to manicure better, but i am not really fussy. Its for me to smoke not to take to a cannabis exhibition. In fact i might take alot of that airbud and water cure it to have the effect of reducing the weight, thereby increasing potency. I dont really like the flavour of the airy stuff too. I think i'll water cure that bud that is reveging (what i can of it). It has unmistakenly got denser from exposure to more light. This is partly due to some leafy growth, sure, but next time i think i will do a stagered harvest to get a more even quality of bud, and better yield.
It would be my first time water curing so interested to see if it can make that stuff smokable with a fair amount of tobacco!
Nice, nice. I meant to ask you about that. I reckon the waste water from the cure would be good for your organic adventures? I just did my second water cure:
Soooo agreed on curing. I find it hard to smoke fresh stuff now that I know the difference. Oh yeah your reveg looks wiikid, mon. Happy grows.
thankyou everybody once again. Its extremely reasurring to have two sizeable jars of supply - especially when street skunk in the uk is too likely to be contaminated with absolute shit (grit weed). Contaminants like crushed glass, sand, silicon etc has been found in laboratory tested samples. Its poison into our bodies. Be careful out there.
I proved to myself its possible to grow a self sufficient supply in my bedroom and live pretty much the same way. I dont have to exclude people from my bedroom but obviously have to take a few precautions. For instance, smell can linger after moving plant for photo session to show on icmag, and bottles of nutrient or wierd stained water lieing around might make you stutter to explain.
geekusa, thanks for asking about the scrubber. It worked well. I found even a slight air gap at the top (because its a vertical filter a gap can form at the top) a little bit of smell will escape and a very trained nose in your room will smell something and remark on it! This happenned but i brushed it off as my basil on the table under the window - I was able to lie convincingly only because the smell was very faint otherwise it would have been a ridiculous excuse. I put it right after that though and took out the carbon filter and made sure it was absolutely crammed full with no place any carbon bits could escape and leave a gap at the top. Even put some more of that draft excluder stuff inbetween the carbon bits and the lid that closes it. It really works for total stealth when you've taken these precautions. I had to upgrade my fan though to pull through it! I would love someone else to get these fans im using and report back their opinion because i'm extremely impressed.
I've been a bit lazy recently, i must check the other threads! Take care all.
got a mess on my hands already and tops are squashed up against the glass. I'll be taking clones tonight hopefully and see if i can salvage some of that revegged bud. cya soon.
