hey, griptape! i hadn't seen that one yet, thank you. you know, i was thinking about rockwool and i remembered those little croutons. that might be the form that could work in one of these.

i don't mind anything you do with this information. in fact, i encourage everyone to spread it around anywhere people are trying to grow their own medicine.

my wife and daughter and i trap feral cats and have them fixed, get them any treatments they need and release them. some of them just haul ass when we open the cage and some hang around. since they are all outside animals and are not socialized we don't let them into the house and did not have our "own" cat until we caught this one in one of the cages at about 4-5 mos old. my wife and have worked with her for over a year now and she is a very nice little cat. totally tame. comes when we call. follows us around everywhere. eats pot and steals hash. we had about a gram chunk out on a plate and only three entities had been in the room. me, mrs delta, and ms piggy. we still haven't found it.

wow, funny you mention that... I cant have animals atm, but girlfriend want's to foster kittens and such when we can.

you and medmoose (i still think of dmoose and now bullwinkle with a stethoscope) have touched upon a phenomena that needs further exploration. you know how i also bend the branches out into the light, encouraging them to fall over between the 2 lights? well, those that fall below the level of the medium top seem to produce the largest buds. i think this has to do with plant hydraulics but i wouldn't know how to find out for sure.

I think this and other LST techniques are great ways to equalize colas if you have the time to maintain it. Imagine growing a plant sideways its hole life in veg. YOu could turn the pot back up then the stem would already be at a 90 angle, so the plant could easily be tied in that position at the ends, then all the growth would be straight up like a sea of green.

'Field of green'

in my reality it is simply easier to grow plants straight up, top for bushiness, and let go. But if you're goal was to maximize hormones and light, there are a lot of thngs to explore. They are just too high maintenance for my taste. Gowing side ways could take a lot of maintenance out, because you don't need to keep tying the plant down... You essentially flip it all at once at flower time.

In my exp, colas that are low lose dominance. There is a lot of research on the way hormones signal dominance that would explain what I see. I would have generalized that if the buds fell lower than all the other buds, they would slow and lose dominance. If you are seeing lower buds grow like top buds (spatially speaking, or hight from ground not position on stem), this would go against that. Maybe there is a point where things lock in and it doesn't matter anymore about the auxins and stuff. This could explain things. Like they where dominant and then they fell and the dominace had become locked in.

I'm just making an observation myself that flowering plants are really different than verging plants (duh...)

In veg I can say with 99% accuracy that I can take a top of a plant (once again, while in veg) bend it down and it will lose dominance and the plant will behave as if it was removed. Like LST.

it's too late to turn back now! the process has begun. i've set up a special table for these. i haven't popped a seed in a few years. this is going to be fun!

Ive been gone a week plus and with good reason my little 600w cool tube experiment with 5 weeks veg is already done and ONE plant was 18.zips dried and cured weight and its all gone alreadys... :,(

but it was a 3.5 in a 5 and stacked in a 4' x 4' x 6' tent with the veggers and then flipped I did do the VerdantGreen mod-scrog for 3 of the 5 weeks then it took off faster than I had time for and it was well loved by many and way cheap to produce thanks to cheap coco brick and a pulse feed of around 6 ozs every 3 hours and jacks pro at 1 tsp each gallon and cal nit from them at the same... so... yeah a pound of grand daddy purp lasted me a whopping 4 days but provided meds to about 30 people lol and cheap great ones and I have 10 grams of hash off its trimmings and a pound of butter after screening the trimmings so I say it was a winner for sure...

next up will be a nice strain mailed to me from the US Army who found a mans "hashish al tib" grow (medical marijuana grow) and he gave the nice friends of mine a 1/4 oz and some seeds and they left his house alone and told everyone else to as well... lol and now what I have is a fast flowering plant 50 days and theyre 50/50(tried on a 5" tall solo cup baby for knowledge base) that is so caked with resin its unreal but I'll be getting my new camera this next week... the last one ran away for good.... and pics of it will be up soon as its 42" tall will enter flower this next week and I'm buying an agrosun 1k bare or cool tube dont matter to me now but I will update

anyone see the eyehortilux dual arcs? any feedback on them?

and my clones were started in rockwool and thrown into the coco and it was all good so now I just need a hash methodd to copy and I will be golden here

btw old dogs like edibles for the arthritis and hip problems my dog ate my cookie and has been fine since, hyper too damn 8 year old rat terrier

next chop will be the Army strain or blue dream (pre 98)

either way love the PPK... I left em alone for 2 weeks and mess with plants 45 minutes a week... so the wife is happy too...

hey, dagger! 18 zips! excellent! i got one i whacked about 3 weeks ago dry now at about 18 also. and i've got one drying now that i'm hesitant to even report. it's going to be the biggest one for me yet.

with devilweed's large plant we are seeing the device grow different strains to large sizes. i used to get excited when i grew a 10 oz plant and now i would be disappointed. same plant. no telling what some of these strains could yield done right.

we'll teach them to limit plant counts! we'll be using chain saws to whack 'em soon.

the g13 bean popped in less than 18 hours. i only have 3 so i'm being very careful.

i'm going to start processing my next batch of hash tonight and i'll keep a photo record. it takes a few days to do a whole load so i'll probably have pics up in a week or less.

well, congrats on the plant, dagger. really cool!

Time for a 'Passively Critical Mass'?

lol my 600w yields are making people that know me re-evaluate their 5000w grows that produce less with more plants and I had some in veg when I left I'm back and sadly they hit the light, burned the tops off and took over in a bad way but after 5 weeks and 2 days of veg they are 42" and they were rockwool started clones, now I'm using my mini stinkbud cloner and a chainsaw would be a good idea the stumps on these (with poor air flow) is 2" thick and the mod scrog ones have a nice set of 40 colas lol

I may need to trim some branches off but then again I just swapped the 600w for a 1000w in the same tent and spread them out lets see how this vert run goes

G - EFFIN' - THIRTEEN!!:dance013: I hope the legends are true.

Heh - i got some of that when it was new, getting grown for a study at a uni that was local to me... was fucking sweet at the time, and i've not seen g13 which matched that since.... I bet a lot of that was the grower's talent; and i bet delta can pull the best out ;)

well, i just weighed another plant i've been drying for 3 weeks and it went 18.94 oz's. so now i've had 2 in the twenty oz range, 3 in the 18 oz range and a bunch of 15-16 oz plants.

the plant i've pictured recently before and after trimming was huge. it will be the new record breaker for me.

the 8/4-8/4 light routine is producing a 30" plant in 4 weeks in veg. which is the same size in the same time i got with 20/4 lighting.

the new media mix is working fine. i now have 3 plants in it looking good and growing fast.

5 of the seven seeds have popped and were put into an all turface medium treated with 300 ppm flora nova bloom. 3 of them, including the g13, are out of the medium and have open cotyledons. showing green.

at this time i would appreciate everyone's input on any way they think this can be improved.

one of the things i'm implementing now is going to 1/4" id hose for the sub line. i'm changing them out one plant at a time.

the drip tubing performed well for a long time but once it got dirty it started clogging regularly.

i will still use the existing tire valves but am drilling them out to 3/16" which greatly improves flow.

i will put up some pics of this change soon.

i will still use the drip tubing for the pulse line as i've never had one clog.

have you considered simply using a grommet and barb connector instead of drilling out tire valves?

I've done a little research and come to understand that different salts conduct current differently. For example cal nit conducts a different amount than mag sulfate at the same ppm.

I though about this and measured the nutes exactly as the directions say, two tanks, .67 *by weight*.

My EC for the cal nit came out to be %80 by of the other EC. Did you weigh and measure to get your .67 EC factor or did you calculate it based on the ratios and assumptions that salts conduct about the same?

If you weighted and then measured EC for your reference and came up with the cal nit at a 67% ratio by EC, then I must have done something wrong and will have to redo this. If not, I would suggest basing the EC off the reference mixes using weight to mix up and seeing what the EC are going to be. I don't think you'll see it at %67, but I could be wrong. I did my test with only a few liters. I'd like to redo my EC measurements of nutes mixed by weight as directed when I mix up my next 30 gal trash can full.

You are the ninja. I think there are easier ways to plumb it up... but you are the ninja.

EDIT:
I'm still having a bit of trouble with the valve stem ports. Slow leaks. etc. I keep saying I'm transitioning back to 1/2 tube and barb connectors...

hey JJ, yeah, i've considered using a grommet but i already have the valves installed in the buckets. 1/2" tubing is a lot larger than necessary in a ppk and i got great results using the .170 id drip line so 1/4" line is fine. it is a simple 5 seconds to drill out a valve. this isn't the first time i've used them and i've never had one fail or leak.

nutrients again! if you take 86 and divide it by 130 you get .662. so that is the ratio they recommend. i divided weight by 1000. i measured ppm of each substance at the .5 conversion and got a ratio of 1/.67. i don't remember the weight numbers right now but i used the same ratio to achieve any mix strength i needed. for example, right now i'm running 600 ppm at the .5 conversion so, using a meter, i measure 360 ppm jack's first and 240 ppm calcinit. 240 divided by 360 is .666 so i round it to .67 for convenience. this works really well. i'm growing huge, healthy plants with it. the weight numbers i used originally are somewhere back in this thread.

JJ, all this really doesn't matter as long as you mix according to their instructions to achieve the strength you want. i hope this helps.

yeah! well same to you but more of it! ninja in japanese means "nut job".

your leaking valves must be caused by "installer error". none of mine leak. i used them years ago diving for marine animals. i used them to hook up underwater spray devices for tranquilizers.

Ninja = "nut job"?

That ruined my day.

I should be more clear, as that was a very incomplete post:

1. The valve doesn't leak, and fits nicely and is water tight. It's the shitty ways I've tried to plumb the valve, with silly different sized of tubing and water proofing tapes that is the fail point.

At any given time, I could have ordered the medical tubing per your how-to, and been done with these silly little problems.

2. I know this is a total reversal of my position, but I keep thinking about a higher rate of exchange between sub-reservoirs. Obviously, a larger diameter hose will be beneficial in this increased exchange idea. This was in the back of my head when I made that statement.

Ultimately, the only material that I didn't find easily was the black medical tubing. Everything else was readily available locally, and really quite cheap. I guess I should keep that in mind, as the grommets are only on specialty shelves in my region.

My day is back on track:

"Origin: Japanese, equivalent to nin- endure + -ja, combining form of -sha person (< Middle Chinese, equivalent to Chinese rěn + zhě )..."

Right or wrong, I'm rolling with a 'person who endures.'

that's what you want, a nut job you can't kill!

no, seriously, you kill me, man!

now i understand why you have leaks.

IF, i'm using a blue 1/4" id, 3/8" od air line from the tool department at home depot. i think a 100' length was 37 bucks.

the 3/16" latex tubing is now too small to go onto this od tubing so i've switched to 5/16" id latex tubing for the connectors. it seals well on the tubing and the tire valve as well by pushing it up onto the tapered rubber part of the valve.

i wanted to cut back my maintenance keeping lines open but i also have been thinking about this letting the system come to equilibrium faster after each pulse event. i'll explain my thinking on that later.

i still want to "home run" each line to the control bucket but i want to try putting the pump and the float valve in the same container.

that is impossible to do with a 10" diameter bucket as the float valve ends up dead center. i'm looking for a square or rectangular container the right size.

if you google "5/16" id black latex tubing" you will get a lot of hits from places that sell fishing and diving supplies. fishermen make lures out of latex tubing and divers use it on their spear guns.
