Passive Butane Extractor and Reclaimer

The Tamisium company response to the variety of higher quality extraction systems, speek volumes as to their character...
Instead of building a better system, they hired a lawyer; I'm not sure how that helps anyone, but help doesn't seems to be a Tamisium company value.

I think that the lawyer notifying me of the pending patent was a natural course of events, but my dialog with Dave made it clear that he didn't trust me and was looking for ways to control me, rather than taking advantage of my offer of free consulting and no competition, to aid Tamisium in producing an affordable unit for the poor folks.

I actually withdrew my offer because the dialog was going no where, and moved back to Plan A, which is to provide free instructions to the poor folks on how they can make their own for far less money.

I am not against attorneys, as i have friends in that profession, and my wife is a legal assistant, but in the course of business I've come to believe there is a time and place and that bringing in the folks that get paid more if there is a fight too soon, can be counter productive.

As a bottom line, I think Tamisium has a nice product, just nothing in the market window that they have left open for someone offshore to pick off like a fish in a barrel. I'm pretty sure that someone will fill that window, even if Tami ignores it, which will of course make more work for the attorney advising Dave to be wary of me.

Wow clash of ego on Dave's part?
Fn Attorneys.

No way can he get a patent on the Tami. Their is nothing "new" to patent.
All the info is known in the art of oil extractions. I don't think he invented anything just put knowledge and machine together.

Thanks to Grey Wolf's effort and knowledge he has passed it on to the people at no cost.
You sir are a scholar and a gentleman.
I personally thank you for your contributions and leadership in concentrate making.

This dab my friend is to you!

Thanks for the good thoughts!

Walking around the elephant, to view it from all sides, I read it as more concern and frustration, than ego, though lawrd knows I have pissed off saints with my directness, over my lifetime.

One interesting point that one of our own attorneys pointed out to me, was that Texas is the only state in the union that doesn't recognize intent in contracts. Even if someone intentially engages in a contract with intent to defraud, you have no recourse, because the onus is on you to know who you are playing poker with.

That probably makes for more wary folks, when they haven't a clue who they are playing cards with, even if they themselves are honest. As a nobody out of the clear blue, what do I have that they want, besides to go away quietly?

The opposite of that, is the observation that when a pickpocket meets a saint, he sees only their pockets. Folks sometime project what they would do under similar circumstances.

I am of course not a saint, but for a competent attorney, my history is a matter of record at my age and my read is that Dave is a honest hard working entrepreneur, who has hired a patent attorney, and is following his advice.

As we all know, attorneys get paid to be suspicious and more if things get stirred up, whether it is in their nature or not, and so Dave has been further wound tight by admonitions to view me as a danger.

Nothing I said interested Dave or his attorney enough to engage in meaningful dialog, and my own attorney suggested that they weren't going to, so I was unlikely to achieve my own goal, and should move on.

Oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained! One more thing that doesn't work to check off the list and not waste time on.

I wish Dave and Tamisium nothing but the best, think that they have a quality product, and like it for certain purposes.

I won't pay that much money for one, because I can perform the same process using components of our Lil Terp series, for less, and it can do any number of other things that the Tamisium can't as well.

My concern with Tamisium's patent application, is that obviously both Foaf and my systems use heat and cold to facilitate solvent transfer, even though they also add pumps to do it faster.

Probably the patent reviewer should be made aware of the audit trail for that development work going back to at least 2006 on IC Mag forum, whether there was similar research going on in the general essential oil extraction market, or not.

Besides getting a patent, you have to successfully defend it, an exercise that only makes wealthy men out of the attorneys. If it is a shakey patent, Dave should learn about it now, before sinking a fortune defending it.

Before retirement, we stopped patenting processes, and started publishing them in an obscure journal in an obscure language, so our discovery was kept a secret. If someone else did discover it and tried to patent it, we just trotted out the previous publication to thwart their efforts. We did that because industrial piracy is so rampant world wide and we were leading the state of the art in our industry. Not possible when the product is hardware and you can see at a glance how it works.

Hee, hee, hee, all games for money, and I've personally found it more rewarding and less gut wrenching to just give technology away free, now that I'm retired!

Ohmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Hey Gray Wolf, I know patent law somewhat as I've looked into the process when I had my own inventions. If you can change an existing patent 10% (or any product as well) they will most likely grant you a patent. That's how Mr. Coffee got theirs back in the 70's, they simply put a clock on the drip coffee maker. It's called improvisation and emulation, just like your'e doing. ;)

Since I couldn't afford a patent or even patent pending, I simply mailed a signed registered/certified letter back to myself (post office should know what you're talking about). Just use photos/diagrams and description of what your ideas are in the letter, doesn't have to be a symposium, just descriptive and encompassing enough info. In some cases this has even overruled an existing patent if the date shown precedes that patent. This also protects you from someone taking your idea and patenting it preventing you do use it yourself if they wish. Just think of MC Hammer's tune: YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS!

Attached is also the final parts and source list that I used to whomp up the Lil Terp, for those of ya'll hankering to build one yourself.

HI GW, forgive me, but I didn't see the final parts lists et al , was it removed due to the pending patent issues ? I thought providing just free info would be out side the scope of any patent ?

As as Tami owner, I feel I've paid my licensing fee :), so that should allow me to dare to read what others have to offer ?
Don't suppose that final parts/supplier list is available anywhere else ?
Or I can't see it because my head is up ..... some where else as I'm using the tami as we speak.

The parts list is still up on the Skunk Pharm website.

What IK said, but add that Glacier Tank now has 6" X 6" sanitary spool pieces, which can be used with an end cap and clamp for both a bottom and a top, so as to not have to manufacture and weld bottoms in a split 6" X 12" spool.

Here is the parts list with the cap and clamped bottoms:

Shouldn't there be 2 SP-600-006 6"x6" spools on that revised list, instead of one SP-600-012 12" spool?

Good point! Here is the corrected one:

Do you have a minion over at Skunk Pharm that can update part numbers for the suppliers listed?

Solly, no minions heah, but I will ask Glacier Tank and Paramount to check the posted one for accuracy as a favor.

I haven't made any changes to the design, but there may have been vendor part number changes and I am certainly capable of mispelling numbers.

Thanks for the good thoughts and my best suggestion is to have fun!

Use thick teflon tape to assemble the kit and pressure test it when assembled to insure that it is leak free. Especially on stainless to stainless fits, which can gaul in place, while still leaking.

There is a tutorial on the Pharm site, and I will be happy to field any questions, but may I relay that the most common mistake running the Terpenators, is failing to close the lower dump valve, before flooding the first time, and flooding the collection chamber instead of the column.

Use your gauge to tell where you are in the process. Check your gauge calibration before each run, as it changes on new bourdon gauges as they break in.

Double check all your hose connections before opening the tank valves and starting the process.

Use 75/80F in the hot pot for light colored shatter to vaporize and 212F for maximum speed when making oral oils that are to subsequently be decarboxylated.

Some Good news I thought I'd share, I spoke with a rep this week at GT's and they will have 6x6 spools with a pre-welded bottoms on them coming in the next 2-3 weeks. along with pre-welded end caps with the ferrule and 1/4 couplings too boot. the rep says there phone has been ringing off the hook for the type of spools with the configurations we need to assemble these lil terps. and they are trying to get 8' 10' and 12 inch wide spools to meet the new market demands. making assembly much easier and cost effective. Yah!

Thanks for sharing! Both Skunk Pharm Research and Specialized Formulations are the driving force behind that. Alas the first prototypes were sent back to China by Customs, because they found a beetle in the shipping container. I hope we have better luck this time!

I was waiting for my unit because of those darn beetles lol. But.... I GOT MY MKIII FINALLY!!! Now im just waiting on the recovery pump, 50lb tank, and charging hose. Im EXTREMELY impressed with this design!! Much better then another company i talked to that wanted 5k for a 1lb unit, and it doesn't do the multiple passes like the MKIII. Cant wait to get this thing running. I will post pics and once i get a good tech down i might do a video since i haven't seen one yet. Would love to attend a class with ya GW but i don't think ill make it down this year so i might have to pm ya a few times if i have any questions :)

Also I had a question about shorter sanitary spools, I was going to get a 12" one for smaller nug runs where i dont want to pack a whole 36". Would this work fine? Just quicker? Thanks
