Paradise Ice Cream / 250W MH

All of my plants are doing well. Harvested a bottom bud from my AK x Widow autoflower. Excellent aroma, taste and potency, but a little harsh. Much more body after drying it out some; fresh off the plant it was just a really sweet high! Now it tastes more floral with less fruit and fuel than before. I should be harvesting some time next week, or maybe the week after. It's almost done!

My Ice Cream has grown considerably and is almost a wide as the two gallon Smartpot! I topped it today.

I also had a fem Seedsman Skunk #1 raise its head today.

Just noticed the Skunk 1 was upside down...oops! I had it under the LEDs and halide already. The tip dried out in 2-3 hours, but it's not too bad. I flipped the seedling over and hopefully it survives...

Thanks, they've grown considerably since the last pics and the little budding female is almost done...lots of fans yellowing and she's fattened up considerably.

20 day old Ice Cream. Topped her yesterday. About a foot wide and 4" tall. Dense!

Looks like the little one in this pot is female too! It lost its cotyledon leaves early, and took a while to recover, but it's growing very rapidly now. Looks like they are rootbound, so I'll be transplanting to a five gallon Smartpot in the next couple of days.

Five weeks of flowering..waiting for more pistils and trichs to turn and for the bud leaves to just start yellowing.

My clone to be...it looks to have rooted. I hope to see new growth by next Wed.

20 day old Jet-47...around 13" wide and 5" tall. This one is extremely vigorous. I bet it's a male from the structure..but could be wrong.

when did you clone the auto flower? and did it work. how are the led's working for you, do you think they help thicken up the cola's?

The auto clone was taken five or six days ago I think. It has rooted since it has perked up and looks good, but I haven't noticed any new growth yet, which is normal. Waiting to see how it does once growth resumes.

The LEDs work a treat and lead to very dense growth! In these pics, I had 250W of MH, 120W of CFL and 100W of LED going at the same time, along with a supplemental UVB CFL.

Thanks, they are cute aren't they? The indica autos don't get too big, but the Ice Cream, which is vegging to serve as a mom, should yield better. I plan on vegging the Ice Cream clones until they're 7-8" tall.

Decided to harvest my first auto today...a little over eight weeks from seed. She is positively white. Just enough seed for a couple more cycles. I can flower and finish autos while waiting for regular strains to veg...no wasted power!

Can you elaborate on how you do seed runs with autoflowers? I get the basics but would like to know your method, what males you use, and how the resulting cross turns out? I'm curious

Well, I let the males from the auto AK x Widow pollinate the females from the same strain. Nothing complicated over here. lol. I just made more seeds of the same strain.

If you wanted to make a regular strain auto, you could use ruderalis, cross it to your strain and then grow out the progeny. Some would autoflower. I'd find two good autoflowering parents and make seed, then keep selecting for autoflowering and backcross. At least that's how I think it's done...

That sounds right. It seems that in magazine, seedbank ads the AFs are all feminized, so I guess my thinking was in a rut.

Yup, autoflowering and fem seeds are all the rage right now, particularly in Europe. I'm actually growing autos and fems side by side right now. Funny how several years off changes everything...

I was astounded to hear in a podcast that something like 56 million AF seeds were sold in Spain, must've been 2011. According to Scott @ Rare Dankness.
I am a "smoking is believing" kinda guy, so it has been a 'growing' obsession to try some AF bud for myself. I got two AF freebies to work with. I think I lost the first seedling so I germed the second and planted it yesterday.

Is that pic of the auto AK-Widow? That should be a candidate for pic of the month!!!

Thanks OKD, another member loved that pic too and said he'd recommend it for POTM! I pulled around thirty seeds from her. She tastes great and the potency is excellent, even though she needed another two to three weeks.

Ah well, I have three other AK-Widow females in early flowering now, as well as a cutting that should put out new growth any day now. I'll make sure they flower for much longer. My fourth AF hasn't shown sex yet, and is extremely large and vigorous. I like the 20/4 light cycle for AFs as it seems to have worked well so far.

27 day old Paradise Ice Cream....around 6" tall and 14" wide. VERY bushy. Topped and she has put out two solid tops in three days.

Two females in a five gallon Smartpot. I need to fill the bag up higher. The shorter female is about two weeks from first pistils and the tall, spindly plant lost its cotyledon leaves early and has made a full recovery. Surprisingly it's a female too! I think she's 50 days old and has just shown sex.

A clone from the bushier of the two females in the five gallon Smartpot. Yellowing old growth and new leaves sprouting from the top! She should be doing well in a few weeks.

This plant has been a runt all its life. It has started growing much faster recently. I think it's 60 days old and after a good feed at the right pH, it has shot up with new life. She's a female too! I'm glad I didn't cull her.

Some really interesting sweet, spicy, berry notes coming from the vegging Ice Cream. The vigor in the new medium and Smartpots is amazing! My tent is nice and full right now, so it looks like I'm still months away from cloning time. There won't be any shortage of branches to make cuttings from when it is time, that's for sure!

Also got a few freebies! I won't be buying anymore seeds this year, and maybe not next year either. I definitely have a lot of fresh beans to work with! The Ice Creams should take me up until the end of the year if I run four cuts + the mom.
