Hi everyone. I was back out this morning and took a few more piccies. It's been 3 weeks since my last trip. They have definitely stopped growing vertically and fattening up real nice. Some are real frosty and some are showing their purple hairs. Photos are not that great as I was in and out at sunrise and there wasn't much light. Ill give them another 3-5 weeks before harvest

Welcome l2sm,

Yes, after many generations panama has been bred for bigger leaf, especially when is grown indoors from seed, it doesnt look like a pure tropical sativa, more like a tamed sativa hybrid. Good luck with yours!

I'm crossing my fingers for a nice green pheno. Any tips on spotting one in veg?

I'll cross the Panama with some Jack Herer and possible Sin Diesel in a simple pollen chucking experiment to see how they turn out. I have an insanely resinous Sin Diesel mom that has issues with bud rot due to how dense her flowers are and I think introducing her to a nice uplifting stretchy green panama male might produce some really nice offspring that will have better mold resistance and more open structure.

Does the panama show pink/red pistils under mh's? my lost afghan showed violet pistils under mh's but not hps and it looked exactly like panama with the magenta outdoors.

Sounds like a plan, Hatter. Best of luck. Caution though, hobby breeding may be habit-forming.

How does Panama compare to Purple Haze in terms of high and yield?

From what I have seen from the many grow journals on here, the Panama is a significantly better yielder. As for the effects that is best left to somebody who has smoked both.

My little Panama are doing well at the moment. (Better than the Jack Herer I planted along side them which had some germination issues.) I'm still trying to figure out if there are any tell tale differences in the vegging phenos that I could use to pick out a green one.

I've been looking at the grow journals trying to find some traits that might help me identify green vs red in veg and it looks like maybe the red pheno tends to have redish leaf stems? The green pheno looks stretchier and more open structured but that might not be easy to spot in veg. Every time I think I find a trait that might help me identify a green one, I find an exception to the rule. I guess in the end I may just have to flip a coin and cross my fingers. Given my past results with Ace seeds I imagine no matter what pheno I get, it will be some pretty special stuff.

I fondly remember my first joint of Panama Red behind the pizza shop with my brother. He was a dick but the weed was awesome. Red, rock hard, and shaped like a spear head.

Well unfortunately I didn't get any photos before harvest. I was in a real hurry. We got some wet weather in the last fortnight of flowering + cold weather. When I finally got out to check them they were full botrytis. Lost about 40-50% of the harvest. What I did get off was nice and fat and sticky. On a good note, all my Golden tigers come through with no mould problems at all. The buds weren't as fat and heavy, but they smoked better than the panama.

I know, panama is strong in its crosses, but this one already flowering which panama was not this far along yet in my location. The panama OGs are even more panama dominant, they are about 12 ft tall and look like jungle sativas. This panama goo tho already has crystals and has a wonderful smell, like panama but a bit sweeter and more candy like, but still with that classic panama smell that I fell for 2 years back.

My adolescent Panamas seem to have quite a few phenotypes amongst them. From what I understand the three most common phenos in this line are a bushy, stretchy green pheno, a bushy but more compact red pheno, and a more columnar less bushy red pheno?
