Thanks! I'll be using coco + perlite and Gail green organic amendments so hopefully mine turn out great as well.

Dubi, if my seed batch of regular panamas were from batch 07-ABR-2020 (guessing that's April?). Any info on what phenos I could expect from these?

Organic amendments with coco and perilite? Care to share your mix? I’m an organic supersoil grower but recently bought some autopots and have been told coco works better with them.

I also have super soil that I use for my outdoor grows, but for indoors I just use 20l bale of canna coco and then like a handful of perlite. I then add about 2-3TBSP per gallon of Gaia Green 4-4-4 and a bit of their powerbloom.

Top dress 1 tbsp/gallon every month.

Check out mr.canuck grows on youtube. I just use his recipe basically.

I just handed some Panama buds over my fence to the neighbor. You know he is going to be surprised at that flavor

I'm plan on taking my pheno to week 12, which will be another 5 days. she's pretty ripe right now, calyxes are all plumped up and most of the trichomes are cloudy. All of the fan leaves have yellowed and shriveled off, which means that she is processing and translocating sugar like she should be. The plant smells great right now, giving off a sweet, pungent, piney aroma. The only thing that is concerning me is that the tips of the small sugar leaves on the flowers are starting to yellow. Should I let her go a bit longer until she starts to amber or should I pull her now?

That's a personal preference, so everyone will have their favorite time to cut. If you like the high more energetic and up, pick before too many ambers show up. Some pick at the first sign of amber and others pick when mostly cloudy and in between. Sounds like you can pick now and have no regrets. Totally your call.
To me, the effects of Panama are real dreamy and lower vibration, very kind but a great, fun and happy place. It probably effects everyone different, so if you asked me, I would like a little energy, but I always seem to be low on energy so I like strains that are up, up and up!
Best of luck and good job finishing these girls.
Peace, God bless

His advices are always excellent!
I do prefer letting it go longer as the taste gets creamier.
And that's what I like the most in Ace's Panama, the creamy vanilla lemony a little bit incensey smoke. But then when trichs get to amber I don't like the high.

006.jpg I cut this one @ 12 weeks. There were still some clear trichs but most of them were cloudy. I could have probably let her go another week but the calyxes were swollen, most of the pistils had turned brown and she had already consumed all of her fan leaves, it seemed like it would have kept reflowering forever. I was starting to worry about botrytis if I took her any further.

I just want to talk a little bit about trichome color when harvesting these Ace Panamas or any other full sativa for that matter. From what I have experienced and from what I have read, amber is not something that denotes ripeness when it comes to sativas. Some have said that 50/50 clear to cloudy is what to shoot for, that THC is actually at its peak in the clear sativa trichomes, keeping in mind that the plant has properly ripened all the way, as far as most of the pistils having receded into properly swelled calyxes. Any opinions on this? Thank you.

Anyone? any comments on trichome color at 12 weeks? Like I had mentioned @ 12 weeks there were a few clear remaining, but after further inspecting of the maturest tops of the plant, there were some amber trichomes incorporated in with the clear/cloudy mix. Overall I think that 12 weeks is far enough to push flowering. Any further would have resulted in seeded flowers, as i did find a few tiny, white undeveloped seeds in mine. Anyhow, I ran about 6-7 grams worth of frozen trim over my Trim Bin and ended up with 2 grams of golden kief. I am pleased with the yield as well, ending up with more than expected.

The Panama I had was taken at 9.5 weeks. I have learned that decreasing the photoperiod by half an hour every two to three weeks speeds things. That could have been a factor.

However, the trichomes were clear with a few turning milky, the flowers were big enough, and there were more old pistils than new ones by about 2:1. The thinking was to take it before trichomes started to degrade.

The result was that it was plenty potent and the yield was nice. Of course, it only got better as it cured.

While it is good to shoot for asymptotically near perfection, often times good enough is just that: good enough.

I took mine at ten weeks, it was a red pistil pheno, but I suspect 12 weeks would have been better. It was plenty good don’t get me wrong but I think a few extra weeks would have done it good. I think I’ve been taking my Sativa girls a little early.

Point being at twelve weeks on panama I bet your prime time. You could definitely take her. Have any pics?

For the last year I have been absolutely loving Thai Chi x Panama and Panama Haze so of course it was only a matter of time before I decided to grow Panama in its pure form. I ordered a 5 pack and all 6 seeds popped (love Ace and the bonus seed). I ended up with 5 females and 1 male. They have been in the flowering room a bit packed together for the last 2 weeks so there is a bit of extra stretch. I am going to transplant from 2 gallon to 3.5 gallon buckets and prune/pinch this weekend.

I came across this info in a separate thread titled "cohiba - 'mom' of white widow". I don't think it has been documented in this thread yet, but I found the knowledge valuable (and buried). As Ace/CBG share(d?) the same stock of Panama (regs), I believe the history is relevant. Quotes from:

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=249786

During CBC I took on the breeding panama task :) Used a F1 between called "old panama" and Panama2000 "red hair" seeds sent by Greengrocer ;) Crossed the F2 with 3 Panama Reds males from LMN here in Spain and inbred longer giving as result the Panama hybrid offered by ACE Seeds and through my own CBG now too

and...

Panama took me long due lovely phenos coming out all the time. I had really fun working those 3 panamanians but never had a pure panama red female properly said, just the initial F1 or the 3 Pan Red males. Remember females had a health issued, soo weak and couldnt grow properly.

Panama (reg)
Dark green and very resinous pheno.
A trimmers delight.

This was a free seed that came with an Ace order of Malawi regs. This is the single seed that proved to me "genetics matter". I planted her Nov 2019, she stood out by smell instantly and I have been maintaining a cutting ever since.

It is incredibly sticky - even just LST bending branches while in veg leaves fingers glued. If dried and cured properly, a finished flower wont make it through a grinder. The smell and taste is beyond description - like arcing electricity and soap while growing, and a hazy basement church after cure. Grown with love in a 2x4 tent via LEDs.

9.2 gram fragrant top for my brother-in-law . I like bringing flowers for the Man of the house as well...
