So far all the sweet tooth clones have rooted, and one blue widow. That leaves me with the other blue widow and the AK47 left to root before I have a cutting from each plant to select from after flowering is finished.

The flowering tent is getting filled up pretty quick so I went in and cleaned it up a bit, theres quit a few bud sites being covered by fan leaves but this is only my second grow ever so Im hoping IC will hold my hand through this one a bit ;) Ive read that doing to big of a trim job at once can stress them to much so I just thinned it out underneath the canopy trying not to take to much off any single plant in this session. I didnt clean out the fan leaves on the canopy though. I figure Ill keep them there and in another week or two Ill selectively trim only the ones blocking the budsites. Im not sure if this is the way to go or not, Im all ears if anyones got any suggestions.

Thanks FD... I'm not sure if I like this super Sun 2 hood. I know its supposed to be the brightest but the reflector has a very narrow spread. in order for me to get proper light coverage I have to raise the hood to around 14" above the canopy and its NOT due to heat. With this 400 I think that's way to high, I've got it at around 10" now but the outside plants are getting noticeably less light.

Maybe I'm being to picky here I don't know. I'm all ears if anyone has any suggestions.

I went and bought a 600 though, with the idea that I could raise the hood then to get a better spread over all the plants and still have the intensity I need. Ill watch temps once it gets here to see if they are ok but otherwise I think ill be running a 600 for the rest of this grow.

You guys think a 600 is to big for a 3x3? I've got a 424cfm fan on it I should be good at least during winter, during summer I can switch to a 400 if need be.

i got a buddy in cali that runs 12x600's an for each 600 he runs rockwool 3x3 trays. Nice fat tight buds of skywalker og. Ya it will work bit not surr how a tent will handle.

I'm curious to temp wise. We are talking almost double the light and I know they throw a lot more heat then a 400.

Its either that or get a different reflector with a wider light spread. This ss 2 concentrates it all in a very narrow area directly underneath... great for the two plants in the middle.... not so great for the four on either side of it. I just hate to have a 400 14" away from the canopy though

Then again I might be over thinking things. To be honest ild prefer to use a 400 just for cost and ease of use purposes. Maybe ill just run it as is, see how they do and go from there.

OZZ, 600 is fine in the 3x3, it is not overkill if you can control the temps.. you will yield more than the 400, too.

Day 7 12/12

Thanks for your guys help, I think I have a good grasp on how to handle everything.. .from my super soil, worm bin, clones, and trimming but Im a little unsure at times since this is only my second grow.

I appreciate it

I went in and thinned out the canopy last night. I tried to leave as many fan leaves as possible but thinned out the ones that were blocking light from budsites or to the center of the plant in general. I think it looks about right from what Ive seen here on IC but I know theres a huge debate about whether or not to cut fans.

Here they are first thing this morning at one week in, with their new haircuts.... a few are showing pistils already.

I got my 600 in yesterday and rigged it up. Puts me at 66 watts a square foot, plus I ditched the super sun 2 reflector and went with a radiant 6 ... much, much better light spread over the 3x3 area.

That is a nice looking tent. I can't wait to see how they do under the new 600w light.

Thanks guys... ill be updating on Thursday their stretching and throwing out new fan leaves... as well as starting to bud up nicely. I'm gonna have to go through and hack off a bunch of fans again I think but things are looking good. I might have to start tying down too if they keep stretching I'm starting to run out of certified room!

Veg tent update:

If you recall earlier in the thread I mentioned I had popped only a single bean each of S*nnies Jackberry, Cannacopia's Chunk D (deep chunk x sour diesel), and a white label super skunk.

Well today after looking up their skirts I noticed all three were showing female preflowers. I cant believe it. I was trying to figure out what I was going to run next round as I have a buttload of genetics and more on the way but looks like the next round will be jackberry, chunk D and super skunk.

They have been tortured, meaning I popped the beans on 9/6 and have kept them in 5"x5" pots the entire time. I dont like up potting to sex it seems a waste of soil. Instead I just let them sit, rootbound in the pots until they show preflowers. Im not sure if all strains will show eventually or not, but so far its working for me.

So now that they are sexed, they need some TLC!! A good trim, root prune, and transplant is in order. Im working on a new drip system that I will have installed in the next few weeks or so, but Ive decided to use super roots airpots for my moms so I dont have to root prune quite as often.

Heres the chunk D and super skunk looking very UNHAPPY because of being rootbound:
