Outdoor Strainguide-Please contribute!

I agree Skip! All members who contribute here should also contribute to the main strain guide.

When I was on Overgrow the outdoor forum was constantly bogged down with threads asking about good strains for this climate or that climate. I realized that it can be hard to collect enough specific info on a given strain, grown in a similar climate and latitude to make a intelligent decision.

When I started looking at the Overgrow strainguide, I realized that although there were many outdoor reports, they were lost in a sea of indoor reports. Often times when you found a outdoor report on a given strain, the grower may leave little info on climate and latitude, making it hard to know if it would work in your own.
As I recall, there was also no way to search descriptions to look for outdoor reports, meaning you just had to keep looking at strains, one after the other to find the outdoor reports.
I decided I'd sacrifice my time for others convenience, by going through each strain, and listing each that had a outdoor report on a list of clickable links. We already had a guide in the outdoor forum similar to the one I made here, but it was not updated, and had few reports. I posted my link page, and PM a few mods and admins about making it a sticky. One said he'd rather change the existing strainguide to be friendlier to outdoor growers, but Gunny sticked it right away.

When I arrived here, there was no strainguide, hence I started this thread.

Mandala Hashberry

@yosun: In case of the PP the ratio was very very bad. I've never seen so much leafs in buds it was an exhausting harvest. The ES has a normal ratio - much more resin but the buds weren't really compact causing of the 100% sativa!
This year I need more Indica strains...

Strain/Breeder: Sativa Slang(early girl, but updated), Sativa seeds
Harvest time:Mid/end of sept; Beg. of october at latest (8-9 weeks flowering)
Latitude of grow: 21 N
Average yield: above average
Mold: none
Potency: 8/10
Effect: awesome/relaxing clear headed all around high. you can sit back and sink into your couch, or go out and do something. Its not "Hit you in the face knockout wtf awesome" its just a very nice, relaxing high, good quality high. Doesn't take a lot to get you high either. To put it in simple terms, it just feels good, really good.
Smell: 9/10 The buds have a fresh fruity smell, smell just delicious.
Taste: 7/10 earthy with slight undertones of sweetness.
Grower notes: EASY EASY EASY plant to grow, very mold resistant/pest/disease. didn't have to use a single insecticide or fungicide on them the whole way through. My mazar-i-sharif didn't do so well in the hawaiian climate and got riddled with pests, and she was right next to the slangs, who remained unaffected. yield is GREAT, and potency doesn't lack either, the high it gives you is truly a quality high, very very nice and relaxing.

I visited my plants no more than 7 times and they pretty much grew themselves. This strain is apparently an updated version of "early girl" and I must say its very nice. If anyone is considering getting early girl then just get sativa slang, its way better. Finishes in 8-9 weeks, a true early finishing sativa that doesn't lack in yield or potency, and its easy to grow.

I seriously recommend this for any first time grower.

Strain/Breeder: A.M.S / GHSco
Harvest time: early October
Latitude of grow: 46° N
Average yield:
Mold: none
Potency: 7.5/10
Effect: pleasant stone/high
Smell: interesting, somehow spicy fresh, different from most stuff
Taste: spicy
Grower notes: good outdoor strain, hardy, with very tight and frosty buds. price/quality = great.

Strain/Breeder: Big Bang / GHSco
Harvest time: mid October
Latitude of grow: 46° N
Average yield:
Mold: none
Potency: 6.50/10
Effect: relaxing dull stone
Smell: sour apple / hay
Taste: bland
Grower notes: germinated end june, by mid october plants weren't ripe. it's vigourous and grows without problems but it doesn't have strong potency nor it doesn't finish on time, so no good outdoor strain.

Strain/Breeder: Great White Shark / GHSco
Harvest time: mid October
Latitude of grow: 46° N
Average yield: low-medium
Mold: yes, with fungicide
Potency: 8.25
Effect: strong but pleasant stone, can be couchlock
Smell: gentle, flowery, roses
Taste: good, strong smoke.
Grower: good outdoor strain, very vigourous!, big plant, but it yielded poor for 250cm big plant- 130g, buds were of great quality, worth growing..

Strain/Breeder: Frisian Dew / Dutch Passion
Harvest time: september 30.
Latitude of grow: 46° N
Average yield:
Mold: yes
Potency: 8
Effect: strong stone/high
Smell: fruity metalic, strong and nice smell.
Taste: strong, tasty.
Grower: only harvested few branches of one plant, it was green pheno, done by end september, sticky fat buds, very good quality, seems like a good strain..

Helpful informations about some interesting GH strains @supersnonic!
So what was the winner of these four strains? I guess the GWS but *psssst*

A friend grew "The Church" last year and she was ready begin of oct.
Really nice girl :)

hi

yeah you guessed right GWS is winner of these 3. but if AMS would be harvested mid october, i guess it would be same strong as Shark. of 5 ghs strains i grew, the winner is white widow, but that one needs to october 20th here at our latitudes, so you also need a piece of luck with weather. widow was really extraklasse...

I've heard of sucessful good yielding grows of "the church" here too. I'm gonna try it, maybe these year if i grow...

regards.

pangolin

Strain/Breeder: Kodiak Gold / Reeferman Seeds
Harvest time: late September<>early October
Latitude of grow: 51 N
Location: Northern Europe
Growing type: Guerrilla in tubs
Average yield: Average/Low
Potency: 7.00 nicely balanced/happy~needs curing
Mold?: a little mold <10%
Year of grow: various

Notes: Rumoured relation to the MVTF line but I cannot verify. Old seeds that germed well. Lacking vigour somewhat as IBL, noticed early leaf mutations and lack of stature/30% 'off' types. Very good on mould resistance in lousy seasons~see rain drenching in pics.

Sativa and indica 'phenos' but really a very homogenous seed line, distinct in several ways. All coloured up, believe unrealated to temps. Floral, berry, earthy and lavender astringency in the tastes~needs a good cure. Not narcotic, but painkilling properties evident.

Real value represented in crosses and many in this breeders line up circa '05,sadly not commercially available now. Recommended overall if you get the chance.

Man...just reading this thread is great....ONE thing that sucks really bad though, is Silver Back is gone....Man, Ilove reading about the different strains he grew outdoors and what he thinks of them....If he was only here..i would ask so many questions....really sucks. I am though, because of him, growing KC33 from KC Brains....He really spoke highly of the lime green sativa pheno....Its early, but it seems I have a couple of those phenos...I just wish i could pick silver Backs mind for a few hours....What a wealth of knowledge he was....the MJ community really does miss a person of his experience....Im sure hes in a better place....Have a great outdoor season everyone....
