It's good to hear that your father has recovered from his surgery. I hope he has many good years in front of him; next year he can shake the long pole for the olive harvest.🙂

...Very early in the morning, harvesting the the smallest olive trees...(77 years old next month, @Hombre del mont ...)

If any northerner (Germans with Scandinavian winter depressions included) or gringo is bored, and feels like an exotic interactive adventure vacation, picking olives in the wildest and deepest part of Deep Hispanistan, I will host you for free and feed and smoke...😉
Wellcome to the olivos...

Dr of Stupidity
It's fantastic that he's able to be harvesting again.

In case anyone is thinking of accepting cousin @Eltitoguay kind and generous invitation let me tell you as a guiri, (a unproductive foreigner who doesn't understand the Spanish way), it's hard work, enjoyable but hard.
It's great having your own "real" virgin olive oil, not the crap they sell in the shops as extra virgin olive oil; that crap doesn't even have a vintage on it and costs stupid amount of money (in the UK and I'm guessing in the US also)

Local organic extra virgin goes for about 5-9 euros(roughly 5-10 American dollars) a litre (approx 2 pints).
We're lucky that we usually get given sufficient for the year🙂

That, like my neighbor, who has two blond kids, three brunettes and one mulatto, and is still a virgin (according to her...)

...Well, here I am, harvesting the buds from the secondary branches' buds...

Baaahh... That's not a proper bud, cousin Jincho: These are "Sierra Morena stile" buds...

Photos, under the light of a ceiling lamp and a portable desk lamp, of one of the tips of the secondary branches that I harvested that day, still drying.
Its smell has evolved: now the dominant smell is a mix between fermented lemon and sweet lemonade with a very light note of mint & geranium, with a background of pâté:

December - 3 :
As I told you, this early morning of this Sunday-3, has been on the northern slope of my mountain range, the coldest so far this year, having fallen to 0°C (32°F) for the first time. The morning was cold and foggy, but after a few hours it dissipated and the sun began to warm up, but without getting above 12°C (54°F). We are going through a small cold spell, and it seems that temperatures will rise a little, but I don't think it will be enough for the correct development of the

For the time being, I continue with the harvest of the Thai A5 Haze (A.C.E.); (All photos without any flash, only natural sunlight):

The variable and fickle nature of my inland mountain climate... If on the 3rd I had for the first time lows of 0°C/32°F (and highs of only 12°C/54°F), yesterday and today we have lows of 10°C/50°F and highs in the shade of 21°C/70°F...; but tomorrow temperatures are forecast to drop 4°(°C), and next Monday the 18th, back to lows of 0°C/32°F, and highs of only 14°C/57'5°F....

(Santa Marta's Colombian Red/Santa Marta Gold X Original Haze) S1, (@MadMac); (Punto Rojo de Santa Marta / Dorada de Santa Marta X O. Haze)S1 aka (Moño Rojo de Santa Marta / Moño Amarillo de Santa Marta X O. Haze)S1, aka Cumbiambera; born on May-16, just over 1'65 meters tall, she has the 5 lower nodes of the stem (10 twigs) pruned.
Aroma of mint and lemon (dominates the mint) and a natural soap finish.

All photos taken in natural daylight.
I'm sorry I couldn't get more out of the plant, MadMac: look at how cold-burned the leaves are, and they can only get worse from now on. Undoubtedly, in a milder and truly subtropical climate, such as the fully Mediterranean, it is the right one to explore its potential...

And for lovers of zoology (not everything is going to be botany) and the wildlife during winter inna the dehesa-savanna and in the hills...

...well, at least on a small scale, I leave you this photo of different and cute little animals inna "green party": this is the nastiest branch of the plant, which at the time, touched on the soil, and promoted this colonization. Fortunately, as seen in the previous photos, the rest of the plant is in excellent condition:

Well, in two days, here in the northern slipe of my inland Sierra, my maximum in the shade has almost been reduced by half and almost equaled my nighttime minimum from the day before yesterday; and my current nighttime lows have simply gone into free fall...

News in its aroma: now, the natural soap finish that "enveloped" the dominant aroma of peppermint and lemon, is acquiring clear metallic notes. Part of the visual aspect of ripening is simply due to the cold. The leaves of the main cola are badly burned by the cold:

Born on May-1, she has the 4 lower nodes&half (9 lower twigs) pruned. More than 2'25 metres of stem length, before being started to be pruned.
