The north wind came in. Shifted to colder than average for the next couple weeks. The sun has been shy this week too, lots of clould cover. Some light rain here and there, but thankfully, from what I could tell, the garden got missed by most of it. After a couple weeks of cool dry conditions it should warm up through early October!

It begins. On the hunt for mold this weekend. Smoking up the old flower! :smoke:

Hey everyone l hope you’re all well and things in the garden are shaping up.
Here’s an update of the (Blackdog x Golden Tiger ) bx3’s.
The underwatering trials have been an exceptional success and l can say the majority of these seeds are drought resistant. In fact some of them never wilted at all and the ones that did wilt during the day would recover of a night, it’s something l never expected at all.
Of course if l had of left them to go further they all would of died but l called this part of the trial an absolute success and progressed to the over watering.
The pots were so dry that after I added nine litres of water, to close to 25 litres of soil, by the next day all the plants were displaying a non sressd look and the water had been, totally adsorbed. All the leaves had filled out and blown up with water. It was really impressive to observe them go from an absolutely tight looking, water saving mode to a full, beautiful leaf; l wish l had of taken a before and after to share with you all……it was that good.
I’ve also included a photo of the early male so you can see how it’s progressing. The flowers themselves are a bit ratty looking but l think that’s from the stress of no water. He’s dropping pollen and I’m keeping a close eye and nose on him.
Cheers,
40.

Heading out to the garden. Have to do some inspections after the cloud cover and light rains/sprinkles. I don't think we got much, but will need to go over the plants a couple times to check for mold.

"An ounce of prevention equals a pound of cure."

Looking for a couple pounds of cure, so need add some prevention! Going to get them watered again, last week had good heat still. Cooler temperatures this week. Today and tomorrow are around 80, but the rest of the week hovers around 70-75F and has night temperatures as low as mid to upper 40's. Have a little chance of rain mid week, but its going to be more sunny. Temps are forecast to rebound later in the month and early october. Hoping to see summer last a little longer than last year!

Will get some updated shots. Got my work cut out for me today. Labor of love! So blessed by what the Lord has given. Plants are growing better than ever this year! Glad to have some variety! :smoke:

This is an updated pic of the Swazi BX1 x Swazi BX2 females, I pollinated a couple buds on each with the pollen from their early developing brothers, but I'm not sure if I'll want to grow those seeds next year or go back to the batch of seeds these plants came out of. I also might have Swazi BX3 x (Swazi BX1 x Swazi BX2) to choose from. Hard to guess where the early developing plants are most likely to be.

This is one of the South Africans I started in light dep back in July. Nights are now long enough that they no longer need to be brought inside for extra dark time.

These plants are really terrible as far as being PM magnets, you can see a spot of it in the pic above. Don't have PM on any other plants, I never get it anywhere except on these ones. I'd have ditched them if they weren't unique genetics with great flavor that I could never get my hands on again. So far I have no PM showing the South African BX1s I made with Strawberry Banana, but they're earlier in the flowering stage. Also no PM on the semiautos that are 5/8 South African genetically.

Hey everyone,
I just thought I’d throw this one up of the under-watering trials on the (Blackdog x ancient Og f5) bx1’s. You can see how easy it is to pick plants that require more water than others.
The line is actually pretty good despite the fact the new plants and cotyledons were tiny. It seems the f1 male used has been able to pass on many desirable traits such as the deep acrid sour smell that I’m selecting towards.
I’ve never actually seen the sour diesel clone but I imagine the smell coming out of some of the plants is what it would be close to. I’m also really happy that it’s traveling through the Blackdog because when I recombine the two lines this should be a dominant trait.

Went out and got my chores done, and thought I was faster, but still got done only an hour earlier than last time. Will have to try to get out of here earlier next time so I'm not getting home so late. Still took time to get some shots taken. Its good to have a record of growth and development for comparison later on.

Some 2 liter sized colas shaping up! Not much mold at all! Rains missed us for the most part! Ended up culling the 2nd Pine Tar Kush because it was so shaded and way under-developed. Cut a couple Cheese x Hindu Kush lower branches that had got torn up by watering. They have some decent flowers on them, and should be good samples.

Cooler weather this week so may not need to water with as much volume this week. What do you guys do with watering when it gets colder like this. I guess let them dry out as much as possible so I could either skip the week if its really that cold an cloudy, or reduce watering to 5% of the soil volume, so about 60 gal instead of 120. I want to keep them moving. May be pretty normal water consumption this week with highs in low to mid 70's and sunshine. The plants are bushed out and evapotranspiration is at its maximum for the season. Thirsty plants are drinking it down! :smoke:
