Our Mandala and NL 47 Grow!

thanks cali, i've thought about cutting out the bottom the bins but there is two problems with that, one is th bottom is prolly packed with roots and i dont want to put the plants into shock for any amount of time now that they are flowering, and its hard to see exactly as i have them, but most of the bins are hidden in prickly shrubs, so some of the bins aren'y sitting entirely on ground, and i dont want to harm any of the shrubs as they have been so kind to me so far. but this is a good idea, if i dont do it this year, i will definately do it next year. i think i may have to build a dripper, even if it means i go back to my plants after 3 days and they arent wilted and look like they are near death (well not quite, but u get my point). anyways thanks cali-g i appreciate the response, i got to go out and water tomorrow so i will look at the situation and see what i can do. cheers bro

nice work dude. yeah thats the downfall of pots; they dry out too quick. try not cutting out the whole bottom, but gouging out a couple of holes. if u do that and dig the pot an inch or so into the ground, the roots will find their way down and keep the plant from drying out too much.

this girl is in a pot and what i think is keeping it from drying out too much is that its got a hole in the bottom and its in a spot where the ground stays moist.

thanks for looking in, and for the advice. i went out today and did some serious thinking. i need to build some drip systems, which i will try to find some 2 gallon jugs for. some of my bins are on rock so i cant dig or there are too many shrug branches. however i think i can rig something up wit my hashberries...but i need some suggestions. the hb bin is sitting on branches but unlike the other bins, it is not sitting right on the ground (prolly another reson it dries out faster. but here's the plan: i think what i may do, is take all the soil from the plant that got eaten, and put it under the hb bin (a few roots poking out the bottom) and then the roots can dig down into that and past the branches and into the soil, if i leave the soil loose hopefully they can make their way down, it doesnt really help keep moisture in, but it allows me more soil to soak, and i will prolly mulch (from stuff around my crop) both the bin and the soil. this plus a drip feeder, and mabey some polymers in the new soil?!? should give me another day or so...

any thoughts on this, isnt the best system, but there are rocks everywhere and i dont want to blow the cover of the bins so digging is almost impossible.

P.S. Don Dump has finally made an appearance...check out the other plants in his thread (made to make things less confusing). Link is in my thread.

A little update: I ended up just placing about a half a garbage bag full of potting soil under the hashberry bin and added a little extra vermiculite. I haven't made any drip feeders yet, but i have been collecting 2L bottles that i think i will use.

So heres the plants about a week ago. Lets start with the little guys.

The youngest speed queen, starting to fill out:

Check out the new growth, just filling in all available space, looks like she may be a solid bush.

Here's the two young hashberries, the one on the left is female and the one on the right was male and got chopped this week.

Here is another small speed queen, the one that was previously sharing the bin with the huge male. Now that its on its own, its getting more light and has much more room.

Its tied right over like the other was. What im planning for this plant is to train it in an "L" shape. Where it is tied down, will remain that way for the rest of its life, and what its growing up from this tie, will be tied right over towards the camera; that way new growth will have lots of room over the bin as well as some room outside. Im hoping this girl will bush out something like her older brother did.

Two more speed queens

The one on the right unfortunately was male and is now chopped down.

The bin of hashberries, filling up lots of space.

I have a feeling that one is male. The other two have been showing they are female for a while now, and this one hasn't shown anything.

Now time for the flowering NL 47s - The first bin, one girl is a fairly decent size while the other is quite smaller. The smaller plant (left) has pink hairs but i couldn't get a good pic (for this update).

A few buds starting:

And now the other bin, the one that had the hermi. Well there have been no more male flowers, i've looked over every inch of the plant.

Well things are starting to really take off. I plan on taking some pics today when i water and can hopefully get the next update up to show where the plants are. Anyways, untill then, keep it green.

fuck yea bro, dude that first SQ is amaaazing! The node spacing is sooo fucking sweet bro. Great lookin hashberrys, where did you get your seeds from? Hows the water problem coming along? PEACE

Yo cali, good to see u around again. I picked up my speed queen and hashberry seeds from seedbay and was lucky enought to get my NL 47 beans as a freebee. As for the water problem, i haven't bulit any drip feeders yet because i have been very busy, but definately should. The big hashberry bin is dry almost every time i go back to them. And the first speed queen i showed last update i think got too much water because some of the lower leaves are yellowing and i dont know what else could be causing it. Unfortunately i dont have pics of it now, but here is what i do have (sorry about any blurriness, it was hella windy outside):

3 clones i got from don dump, 1 NL 47 and 2 of an unknown strain. The clones i got before were eaten, so i devised this fishing wire cage, looks like electric wire haha.

A young speed queen that i have tied right down.

Another speed queen trained to the tits, the vertical stem is tied down now too, should fill out nicely. Mind you she is a little droopy, it was 34 degrees outside for a few days and it was just watered right before the pic was taken.

This is the NL 47 that was first to start flowering, going to sleep and a pair of bud shots in the sun light.

The small pink lady that shares the bin with it, looking sexy

Alas, the other 2 Nl 47s.

Well thats all for now, i'm out.

Wurd up my icmag homies :headbange. Here's the real update, the last one, as usual as u can see in my previous posts, are usually written about 1-2 weeks after i take the pics, well these are the pics I took on the weekend. Check 'em out!

The longest flowering NL 47, she is more leafy and chunky buds than the other NL 47's. Too bad there is that one browning leaf in the middle of the plant, makes the pic look bad, but ignore it, I dont remove leaves unless they are near death.

Here's a full body shot of the little pink lady that shares the bin with the first NL 47, basicall a main cola with only 3 or 4 smaller buds, all new growth gets eaten by deer, but I can't risk putting any chicken wire at this spot.

The other 2 NL 47's both have very dense nugs and are nicely crystaly. The two are very similar, both are very spear pheno'ed. They will look awsome in another week or 2. Voila...

All the other ladys haven't started flowering yet. Here is that Speed Queen that showed nice node spacing. I mentioned the lower leaves are yellowing, i think it was over watered, but i hope it doesnt have root rot. It may not even be over watering bc I didn't really give it too much water, but it did get more water than the other young ones. I just watered it most of the times i went to that crop. Well hopefully it gets better and this is just a rough patch.

The other young SQ...

Youngest Hashberry:

...and my sad ass looking clones that got chomped. The NL 47 clone got eaten, and the other two were near death and one still is. They won't yeild anything much, but i might as well leave them.

Hope you like...

WOW DUDE!!! HAHA maan, you are already getting such sweet buds! Damn, I really love those shots bro, you are doing a hell of a job. Especially watering every time you go out, do you PH? Gosh dude, those NL are looking FAT, how much are you expecting to yield total? How many plants do you have in total? Great work man, PEACE

AWESOME GROW! Its hard to believe how much bud the nl47s put on so early....you did an amazing job with em dancin....mucho amounts of crystal too, very nice...i think youll be very happy with the end results, would you consider doing a detailed smoke report when theyre finished? im curious how the nl47s compare to hashberry.... peace

Yo cali, thanks man, i'm glad u like the NL 47s. But no, I dont ph or use a nute meter. I really should at least use a ph meter; i just started using really small amounts of ferts when the first deficiency appeared, and slowly increased the concentration, until i was just slightly over the recommended amount ont the back of the jar. Now plants seem to be showing a small deficiency so i am slowly upping the concentration to about 1.5 x the recommended value. I will probably buy a ph meter soon because i am getting a pocket microscope to check the buds. As for what I have left...the final lady count is 3 hashberries (the final one was cut tonight), 3 speed queens and 4 NL 47s, and 1 (well kinda 2 lol) tiny clones (but one is starting to grow. So i got 10/14 female/total beans germed which is prett damn good. I'm guessing my yeild will be about 1/2 to 1 pound per the 4 NL 47s probably closer towards the 1/2. As for the rest of the mandala strains, I have no clue as I am training the plants to the max right now, and the 2 hashberries in the bin have more room now. If the plants veg for another week or 2 and some new tops have time to get a solid start i may get a good quantity of bud off of them. I am really hoping they do, bc these mandala strain are responding incredibly well to lst'ing(should be good, some new tops are all ready staring on the circular speed queen). The bin of clones looks like it might get a few grams.

Luna, awsome to have u hear. I am really glad at how these NL 47s are turning out, u did a good job breading. I will definately do my best to do a decent smoke report. I will have some discussion with don dump and we will come up with something (he has a much better taste analysis than I). To me it looks like now some of the leafier buds are looking more indica like the NL, which is good because i have two entirely different pheno groups: the plants like their sativa parent the Ak 47, and the plants like thier indica parent the NL. But u are right, it will definately be an interesting finish. It seems to me like they have 3-4 weeks left, i was wondering what you think.

Black Ra1n, thanks bro. You gotta like the look of your plants i the bright sun, especially the odd time they aren't wilted lol.

Glad you stopped by Canadian Herb. The plants are starting to get real interesting.

I plan on getting a few night shots in the next few days, they should look, good, i also gave them all a double dose of water the last two days and it there is a possibility of rain tomorrow (the first rain in over a month), so plan on some solid growth this sunny weekend. Take care all.

looking awesome dancing, would need to see an update w/pics before taking a guess as to when theyd be done...how are they doing?

yo luna and tech, glad to see u still hear, i got pics i will post them later today. I don't think they could be any better, been a little slow on the updates, had a tonado come through here on wed, can u believe that...in ontario!!! Some plants got a little damaged the SQ in the bag got mangled...but not a single bud broke off, amazing. Buds will be done in another week, week and a half max, got some pics from right before the twister, they look damn good.

Luna i sure hope u got some more NL 47 beans bro, because i want more for sure!!!

So here is those shots before the twister. You can see how the sky changes, it is so bright and blue in the one spot and in the other spot i only took a few pics because it was so dark. It is literally a five minute walk to the second crop and the change in the sky is intense. Hope u like some of the bud shots...

Of course got to start with the amazing looking NL 47s, i am so happy with how they are turning out. Some of the buds are enormous.

A closer look at one of the NL 47s in the bin:

The other NL 47 is a different pheno, looks alot like the NL.

All my hashberries are at about 1-2 weeks into flowering, they were a little ruffled by the storm but here they are before the storm:

The 3rd hashberry in the bin a few weeks ago, right after it was chopped. Posing nicely with it of course is Don Dump :fsu:

And the 2 standing tall with a little more room (unaware of the storm coming)

One of the HB are completely blown over now, not broken at all, but laying on that shrub closest in the pic. Im hoping i can get it staked back up.

The bushy ass SQ, no SQ's have started flowering yet but they look like they are just about to.

And another SQ that will be huge!! Its a little hard to get it all in the camera, but u get the jist of it. :rasta:

Now I happily walked to my other crop and...BAM darkness.

Miss Pink:

The final NL 47:

Damn deer!

Well thats all for now. I will start flushing the NL 47s soon, and will be posting more frequently so u can see them as they finish. Stay tuned...cheers

WOAH look at those freaking NL crosses!!! AMAZING dude, those are gonna ****ing smoke outstanding! Flushing? ALRIGHT!!! haha great work dancing man! PEACE

holla j to the R O C. Ya it was painful chopping that Hashberry but i would have been a whole lot worse if i didnt. I already found one seed in one of the other hashberries in the bin, too bad it was premature. So there is prolly 1 or 2 more in there somewhere, but I'm sure they are pure Hashberry. And yes...Alex Grey is awsome, i love all of his art.

Whats happening caligreen, im glad u like the NL 47s. They are so packed with trichs! I have had a few little nugs picked off by deer and such, and just recently smoked them. They were a few weeks behind those pics and were far from done, but still were very smooth and tasty considering they were still very green and unflushed. I also got a nice high from them, so the fully matured and cured weed should be outstanding. It also smells very fruity with little of the "skunk" aroma to it, but that is still subject to change once it is dried. Like i said, i will try to do a decent smoke report for all 3 strains, well 4 strains if the clone puts out anything.

I have started flushing all the NL 47s, the plant that i posted the majority of pics will probably only get a one week flushing period with 3 or 4 waterings durning that time. It will most likely be harvested this weekend, there are already a great deal of amber trichomes on it, and it could really be harvested at anytime. I will slow dry it so that any nutes still in it will have time to break down. The rest of the NL 47s will probably get a 2 week flush and be harvested sometime next week.
