Ouch! My Sweet Tooth hurts!

Update: Plants 24/0 right now - Day 9 of the Veg cycle. Both of these plants are beginning to stink and it's only day 9. I'm stoked, but at the same time worried about possible odor problems later on. We'll burn that bridge when we get to it.

Plant A - This plant has some very quick growth. I think the leaning problem was due to the direction the tap root took. I think it went sideways instead of down. Oops! In any case I added more soil to support the stem. I cannot tell if the loss in turgidity is due to over watering or under watering. I only water when the soil is dry which is about once every 2 or 3 days. I can't recall if that's too much for a seedling. Also on a side note this plant already emits a wonderfully pungent odor at day 9. I think I might need to build myself a carbon filter soon.

Plant B - This plant is looking a little rough and I cannot determine why. There are no ferts in the soil I am using so no nutrient burn. All it has had is straight water. She looks very dry and almost torn up, but she has been in the same chamber untouched for a days on end.

Thank for the advise Ravenevar. I added more soil to stabilize the stem some. I hope it helps!

floppyfundanglr - Thank you for your complements. Those first plants were amazing, but I will always be aiming bigger and brighter in this world. If not just to top myself... I just realized how that statement sounds completely "not me." Maybe I have found a calling? We'll see. Good luck on finishing up your grow! I'd love to see pics if you have them.

InNvBoarder - Growin on Bro! Keep that magic working on your end too!

those babes should straighten out after a few sets emerge. i dont feryt seedlings until atleast 2 weeks. i use fow farm ocean forest and there is plenty of nute in that for a seedling for 2 or 3 weeks in a 3x3x4 container or your cup. about the scrubber, it might be worth buying a small scrubber from the store with the amount of work it takes and all the driving to get supplies. for 70-80 bucks shops carry the 4" canfan. works perfect in a 5x5 area and lasts two years at least. my uncle has had his for that long and has no odor prob and he runs a stanky strain. have you ever considered a 18/6 veg? i noticed more growth when i went from 24 to 18 on. they are fine with 24 but in nature they get some dark ya know. that was my observation though. it is cheaper is all( not like cfls break you) but sorry for budding in just wanted to contribute my 2cents. ;)

Hey Budless it looks like your A plant is overwatered to me? Or underwatered but normally people wanna water water water when they have a seedling(s). I water my sprouts that size once every three or four days at most. You gotta let the soil get pretty dry before the next watering, or the roots get choked out. Ive done more times than id like to admit. lol you might try transplanting into a slightly larger container?? Just a thought good luck bro im pulling for ya!! Grow on!!!!

Extra, extra read all about it! Sweet Tooth is perky and pungent from day 5 on! Pick up a pack of Sweet Tooth and the dealer nearest you!

They're looking a lot better. The limp stem issue of plant A has been resolved with a bit of extra soil and a day or two of solid root growth. Right now I have these *hopeful* ladies under 24/0. I think I may switch to 18/6 because I believe that a lot of growth occurs during that short dark period.

Black Ra1n - Right now my best guess is around 30 days of veg. It's really however I feel on the issue. I'm trying to keep both plants in a very small area. I don't know what I'm going to do if they both turn out female... Bonsai I guess!

InNvBoarder - I'll lay off on the watering for 2 more days and we'll see if these plants will pick up. Plant A is looking pretty good in over all growth since my last watering. Plant B's upper meristem area is showing signs of rapid growth. Things are looking good. Thanks for stopping by, you're always welcome here!

HOLY SHITE! I think I might have two purple Phenos! The fifth and fourth nodes are developing right now with a very dark color that runs the length of each. I don't think it's a burn at all which would be my only other explanation of this. Does anybody know if a purple phenotype of any sort has a delayed onset as far as seedlings go? I should know this... I'm learning about genetics in school right now, doh! Well let me know please. I'll have pictures up by the end of today!

Stinking up the place already???!!!:yoinks: And turning purple? Holy smokes - haven't been lucky enough to have plants smell or turn color ( or at least a color other than yellow  ) this young - must be a special pheno - congratulations. Haven't grown out the SweetTooth myself, so can't give an informed opinion, but gonna park my butt and learn a bit...

Eh, I'm not 100% on the purple. I thought I saw it in the very top part of the developing leaves on plant A, but I'm not so sure right now. It's undeniably discolored in person and it isn't a burn color at all.

So far plant A is definitely the better plant. Stronger smell, faster growth, deep green,... let's just hope she's a she.

My last update before the weekend!

Am I the only one that sees purple on this plant already? I assure you the top leaves are very purple in person. *crosses fingers* I can't wait!

They'll be bigger and better next time you see them!

Peace

I'm back. This weekend I purchased some FoxFarm Grow Big and Happy Frog All Purpose(Mycorrhizae and humic acid) soil additive. I will be trying the soil additive for the first time ever. I'm interested to see how well the Mycorrhizae fungi perpetuates the grow. I studied their function in biology, but I have never had the chance or the money to implement them into my grow. I hope they help out.

The plants both grew a decent bit while I was gone. Plant B is looking much better than when I left. Today I gave them ferts at 1/4th strength so they should be picking up soon.

Update!

WOOOOO! Nutrients were a pick me up like no other! These little ones were drooping and discoloring quickly and I really didn't know why. A dose of 1/4 strength Grow Big and they new plants! The leaves have perked up, discoloration in the lower leaves has stopped and best of all they stink!

So far Plant A is still holding the title for the better gambit of genetics, but I'm still waiting to see which one(s) are female. *crosses fingers*

I'm very pleased thus far with Sweet Tooth. My Ak-48 didn't even seem to grow at this rate of speed, at least I don't think so.

Oh yeah, so listen to this - This morning when I went to get my plants in order to take pictures I saw some pieces of old bud lying around. No biggie my cab is where I dry my bud... but what if some fell down there(I use large racks). I don't have any weed right now and... DING DING DING! WE HAVE A WINNER! I found a small nug of my AK-48 and now I'm torched. Weedless and Torched. WOOOO!

Veg Day 18 - I hope its day 18

InNvBoarder I hope it's smooth Sailing from here on out. I've heard my next benchmark is sexing. After sexing I hear that late flowering Sweet Tooth is prone to bud molding. I'm going to come out on top though as long as I get a female in this batch.

WOOOOO! Mr. GreenJeans it does seem that feeding has done the trick. I am still seeing purple meristem growth. I'm stoked. What I was thinking was that the purple pigment seems to be present throughout because I can see it forming in the newest growth areas on the plant. The onset of the phenotype appears to be delayed. I figure it will either show up in the fan leaves later on or perhaps somewhere in the gynecium(buds - modified leaves) during flowering. Chances are it could never show up at all. Thank for commenting. You're always welcome here.

A shout out goes out to Sir SmokesAlot. I seemed to have missed you a page back. Sorry. I was thinking the exact same thing about 18/6 when you posted it. Hell, I could have been scanning this high and read your post, then forgot about it. Anywho thanks yo!

I just want a damn purple plant. Can you tell?

Oftentimes purple meristem is a sign of N deficiency - I had that coloring for a few grows before I figured it out. I was stopping the veg ferts to soon during transition period. You picked up a good tip!!!

An update on the Sweet Tooth. It should be day 19 in veg today. They're under 140 watt CFLs on an 18/6 light cycle. I'm very pleased with how both plants are turning out right now. I've had some problems with the soil retaining water for more than 3 days, but I think a larger container will change that.

Also noting here. If plant A turns out to be male and has purple coloring in some form or fashion I will let it flower to collect the pollen. I want to keep a purple phenotype of something around. I don't mind mating it to another strain and testing all that out. As a matter-of-fact I'd love to do that, but I'd rather just have a bunch of females instead. That's the plan for now.

Plants A and B respectively

Plant A - Look closely!

I hope that's not my problem, that would bum me out so badly. Pfft... Na, I still have some Sweet Tooth on the way regardless. :p Thanks for the tip.

It's not always a problem either - most of my early plants had this - on most of them the smoke was still excellent. I know they'll perform well for ya, hope they purple all over...
