Yeah a conversion factor for how much pelletized lime=powered lime would be awesome! I have looked everywhere and still can't find any powered dolomite lime and ordering it would be way too expensive. I am stuck using pelletized for now(pellets on average are about the size of a seasame seed)

louie,i used pelletized with the basic mix + recipe #1 and 9 days in,they're doin great...fellow who goes by 'hempkat' advised that he's had good success with this method for many years..only reason i tried this was because i burned mixer up and could'nt buy another one.i added lime slowly and mixed everything up in a wheelbarrow.used a shovel,hoe,rake,etc..after all that i mixed it with my bare hands.lot of work, but plants are vigorous and green.

Espoma garden lime is very easy to find and comes in micro grower size. Not a bad deal. Also very good in the worm bin.

That's what I use. It's not a big deal to crush it up, but it works either way. I've used it for years now and never had magnesium problems while using it.

Add one third extra then. Mine are the same and that is what do.

Thanks Von and Cosmic! I'm going to have to try to add 1/3 extra next time. I've been everywhere looking for the prized powered lime (Home Depot, Lowes, garden spots, etc.), but nothing. I even heard that sometimes you can find them in the concrete section at lowes/home depot, but nothing.....the search continues.....

Using these recipes so far has been a non-stop headache for me at every stage (seedling, veg, flower, mothers). I've been assuming the spots on this mother were due to the soil being too hot but now I'm seeing them on a seedling which is not being fed at all (LC mix #1). I've read the stickies about PH however I'm not sure what else it could be. My (tap) water is 7.4 and I am bubbling it for 24+ hours before watering with it. Again, I've followed the instructions exactly and I am using powdered dolomite lime (21% CA 10% MG)... Are they getting too much CA from my tap water + lime in the soil? Do I need to find an affordable R/O machine to get healthy plants out of this mix?

what is the calcium content of the tap water. I had that appen in Florida before.

the bubbling will get out the chlorine but not chloramine which is added to a lot of municipal water systems. try adding humic acid and or asorbic acid to your water so your water doesn't kill all of your beneficials.

they will outgrow it. I got the same thing when I transferred too early to lc mix with dry nutes. now it is resolving itself. just be patient.

rup not sure what nutes you are using but that could be potassium deficiency. maybe the mix is short of K or the K fert hasnt started breaking down properly yet?

rup im no great expert either but the symptoms could be that - seaweed is good because it contains a lot of micronutrients so that may help and shouldnt do any harm.

Should I try a tea with some maxicrop?

Or an EWC tea would d wonders also.

rupertb, try a bottle of distilled/RO water from the grocery store. If your probs clear up in a week, it's your water. My guess is that they'll grow out of it. Clones do this sometimes. Are you sure about the pheno? I have some seen some phenos that develop Ca deficiencies at 12/12 and just seem to get over it.

Also, how long are you 'cooking' your soil for?

have you been using aerated compost teas? If your microherd is strong then your pH should be fine. By the way even R/O does not remove all chloromine unless you have specialized filters. I add a little humic acid and asorbic acid to my water to do two things 1. you clean the water making it ideal for your microherd, and 2. you insure that pH isn't and issue.

i have been looking at maxicrop, seems there are several lines, such as Original seaweed extract, take root,Plus Sequestered Iron, and the list continues, what do you recommend.

semms as many of their products, are based on seaweed ? couldent powdered fish meal work?
