i don't know 100%, sorry so i'll not tell you how to spend your $
i would imagine a 60gph pump in a 5gal bucket would be plenty though

question-im obviously going to need to buy a aquarium/water pump,,ive never made a tea before,,whats the min gph my pump has to be to mix up the ewc tea nicely? i see 1 on ebay for 10 bux 60 gph,,,or do i need stronger thats quite a price differance all i wanna do is mix up teas ,im waiting on u guys to buy,,i wanna make sure its mixed well,,but i wanna spend the least amount of money possible to achieve this
Like everyone said, it all depends on the volume of tea you are brewing. I only brew in 64oz batches so my dual air pump I got at Petsmart is more then enough air to aerate my tea. In terms of over oxygenation from an air pump, you won't have to worry about that. Since the micro flora will be multiplying, more air is better so you can ensure the microbes won't be utilizing all the available air creating anoxic conditions.

You don't need a water pump. One of those double output aquarium air pumps at Wal-Mart will keep two 5 gallon buckets going all the time.
Don't go spend a bunch of money Dude. It isn't necessary.
Less is more in organics.

I have a question about ingredient substitution. Now I am currently working through all the posts here. But their are a lot to go through. If I have to special order I need to ASAP. So forgive me if this question has already been answered.
I am going to use your Soil #1 and Fert #1. Unfortunately I am unable to find Greensand and kelp meal/seaweed. There's just not many sources locally for small gardening supply. 95% of whats available is Miracle-Grow products (which is the kind of Perelite I had to get) Now I have read your advice that Greensand isn't necessary, but I can't find a substitute for kelp meal. And my research is saying there isn't one. (No bird Guano ether)
For my first organic grow I don't want to venture to far from the original recipe(Though I am adding Molasses). So do you have any advice?
And while I have you. You claim that I can just keep reusing the soil mix again and again. Now I realize I will probably have to add the ferts again to the mix. But will I have to add more of any of the other soil mix ingredients?

Kelp or seaweed is the organic source of potassium (K). It is absolutely necessary. Look for Maxicrop liquid or powder. Neptune's Harvest is another good source. You can order either online without worry. Lots of people start organic gardens this time of year.

RECIPE #4
Three Little Birds Method
40 gallons used soil
4 cups alfalfa meal
4 cups bone meal
4 cups kelp meal
4 cups powdered dolomite lime
30 pound bag of earthworm castings . . .
That’s the basic recipe . . .
However we also like to use (Not necessary)
4 cups of Greensand
4 cups of Rock Phosphate
4 cups of diatomaceous earth

are there differances in quality of earth worm castings,,i see cheap,and i see expensive,,ive been told wonder worm castings are the best,,,kinda pricey,,wiggle worm,,seems to be available,,do u guys have a preference on good ewc's? which ones shold i stay away from
i baught DR earth, blood,bone,kelp meals,,because i heard they were quality products

hey i actually have a normal question this time,,if i wanted to keep some moms vegging,,i obviously couldnt do it with recipe 1,,the nutes will run out eventually no,,so how do u keep a mom for a long time with a soil mix recipe that lasts,,thank you so much again guys

I have a question, not sure if its already been answered so Ill just throw it out there. I want to make LC's mix #2 and I have pro-mix HP and on the back it says there's dolomite lime already added to it for PH purposes so is it necessary to add more lime? Thanks
The best worm castings are the ones you get from your worm bin. Wiggle Worm and DR have worked for me.
You can supplement with teas or transplant.
Not enough nutes. Especially outdoors. It's fine to water with, but you gotta feed 'em Man.
Not enough to supply calcium and magnesium. Use 2 tbs./gal. or 1 cup/ cubic foot of final mix.

I was at the hydro shop today and they have a local brand of organics called Harvest Farms and they have all the regular stuff like bone meal kelp meal and bat guano but I'm on a limited budget and didn't want to pick up a full 2.2kg bag of each of those so instead I picked up a mix they have called 'Flower Power' which is 4-10-4 and the ingredients are listed as: Fish meal, bone meal, rock phosphate, langbenite, kelp meal, green sand, canola seed meal.
I figured that sounded like a good mix so I got a bag of it but now I'm not sure how much to use in my soil mix. I was planning on using it with LC's mix #2 and using the dry fert method except using this flower power mix instead of the bone blood and kelp meals. I was thinking about putting around 4-5tbs per gal as thats around the amounts that the dry fert recipe on page 1 calls for. Do you guys have any input? thanks

got the premiere {makers of pro mix} brand sphagum peat moss. and miracle grow stuff. which one do i choose?
also cant find guano's to save my life. so i plan to use the neptune harvest tea's... but that still doesnt solve my problem of guanos in the soil mix.
there were blood and bone meal...kelp, seaweed. but no guanos. chicken poo, cow poo, ewc were the poops i could find however.
