No. Compost has almost no food in it. Compost is used to add humates and microbes.

If you make the guano and kelp tea mix.. and make extra so that you can use it later.. what is the best way to store it? Cause after a week in a plastic bag it reaks like ammonia to the point that im scared to use it. Anyone else have this problem trying to store these tea mixes pre-mixed?

Hello,
Just a quick question,
I have LC#2 mix (followed the recipe exactly!)cooking and was wondering if the left overs(what ever I don't use this round) could be left to dry out and be reused at a later time? If so would I have to re-inoculate with the 'myke' or would they become active again once I add water to the mix again? Sorry that's two questions.

Thanks

Hey Burn1,
Like others have already stated, thanks for this thread. I have read through it, but still have a few questions...
I am using LC#1 Recipe (with a little bit different of a soil mix then what you post), and so I know I only need to water up until harvest...however..

1. I bought some molasses, can I add just molasses to water, without bubbling it? or does it require bubbling also?
2. Which would be more beneficial, making an EWC tea, or applying EWC as a top-dressing?
3. I have some Fish emulsion (5-1-1) as well as some FoxFarms Big Bloom (left over from last season), and while I know I don't need to add anything to the soil, would adding either during veg (the fish) or flower (big bloom) be helpful, or would it be pointless?

Thanks!

You don't need to let LC's Mixes "cook". You can use them right away. LC's Mixes are just soil. There is no food in them. You have to use one of the recipes in the first page of this thread.
Any left over LC's Mix can be covered and saved. You may see some mold on top after a few days. The mix should be stirred a few times a week so it can get oxygen. If you do that, it will keep for months. Don't let it dry out.

What's an LC#1 recipe? Do you mean Recipe #1 with blood, bone and kelp? What did you do different with your soil mix and why? Worm casting tea with molasses is best. Pointless unless the plant is showing you it needs more food.

I have no idea. If you want to experiment, go ahead.

Yes, I meant recipe #1. We made a soil mix of ~25% Peatmoss, 25% vermiculite, 25% top soil, 20% EWC (just approximate numbers, also added dolomite lime). Reason being, it was a suggested mix to us, and it was just prior to me reading this thread .
So EWC tea is best, but if I just do just molasses and water, do I have to bubble the molasses+water?
Thanks again.

experiment?? B1: i thought u knew everything...what do you think, will it burn 4 week old plants?

You can do the conversions as well as I can. You have no powdered dolomite lime. You don't ADD up the N-P-K. You asked if that was enough flowering nutes. How much is it??? You didn't give any amount.
I've posted recipes that will work. Use them. I don't have time to sit here with a pencil, paper, calculator and conversion table converting your recipe. I have a life. :noway:

The guano would be 1 ml/litre top dressed and reapplied every 3 weeks or so...for flowering with the addition of the kelp meal (whatever recommended dose is.)

The recipes are almost identical except for the additon of horse manure and fertilizers. I can add powdered d-lime to it as well. just as a base soil mixture, you think it is ok?

6 part sunshine all purpose
2 part perlite
2 part horse manure (composted)
2 part worm casting

its ok boss, we all have busy lives. i appreciate your involvement :) i am somewhat new to this, i didnt know you aren't suppose to add the n-p-ks...lol newbie mistake?

BurnOne, as with keeping up with this thread, where would i go or what would i search to find out how nutes are combined and the numbers change. I understood that you don't add them up, but i am interested in how to add them up to get the ratio i desire. No answer neccassary, just point me in the general direction.

Thanks man,
Peace.

Sure, if you want to screw up your plants. Why not make some more tea the correct way and use that?
