Howdy all,

Just picked up 4 Flo clones up from the club today in 16 oz. cups and threw them under my light. I am planning to grow them organic in MSM or LC #1. As far as liquid teas/ferts, I have no clue yet. Suggestions are quite welcome.

These are all pictures within a few hours of putting the clones in their new home. They look slightly abused and have a few signs of possible deficiencies.

Just checked my babies this morning and they are already starting to settle in. Each plant has early signs of new leaf growth. More pictures and my final soil recipe tonight.

So originally I thought I was going to do msm, but I cannot find light warrior so I will either do the lc1 mix or get a bag of ocean forest and amend it with a bit of perlite and whatever else I need. For teas, either a mixture of earth juice and fox farm liquids or build a brewer. For starters, I will be using bottles until I set the brewer up as I don't know if I will go that route for my first grow.

Hi chiefmasterbong,

I have a 6 inch can fan HO

and the light is about 15-16 inches away under a 430 watt Hortilux. How much closer should it be?

ur light is fine where it is. could go back a few inches even. maybe u need another fan to circulate the air but idk id have to see the whole setup to really give u a good guess. and ur plants should have alot more growth on them. if i was in ur shoes id just start new plants in the window, those plants looks kinda spent.

In veg I keep my 400w @approx 9inches, as long as the canopy temps remain in good range it's not an issue.... makes for tight nodes, and more vigorous growth IME. When under 1kw I'd keep 16-18in distance from the canopy.....

And as for those looking "spent", far from it.... they've obviously been off to a rough start, but they could be turned around with a little TLC... I've seen much much worse be turned around into a happy healthy plant.:2cents:

Though I do see a few 'speckles' that could be mites, it's hard to say from your pictures.... From the looks of it though, where ever you picked up your cuts from has issues.

Yeah. I won't be going there for clones again. The plants were about 4 feet from the light at the store and had those dots on them. Most of the new growth looks fine. After the first full day a couple new leaves popped up on each plant.

Should I transplant them now or wait another day or two? I have a bag of ocean forest and earth juice nutes until I make my own tea.

What kind of tlc should I give these babies to bring them back around?

Day 2 pictures coming tonight.

I will take more pictures of the setup tonight too. It is a growlab 120 with a can fan 6 inch ho and an oscillating fan inside.

I would wait another day or two, at least, before transplant. Let the roots get fully established before putting them in the FFOF, which I've heard multiple reports of being a 'hotter' soil... just make sure and hold back on the EJ for a bit after transplant, if the oceanforest is as hot as I've been told (never used it personally) you shouldn't need anything but water for a bit.

I would let the watering frequency be the guide to when you transplant, that and the new growth.... once they start getting really thirsty(needing water daily) it's time to up-pot.

What size pots are you planning to transplant into??

Well I have some 6 inch compost pots, those ones where the roots can grow right through. Those might be too small considering there are in 16 iz cups now, I dunno. After that I want to step up to a 3 or 5 gallon. For flowering, probably a 5 gallon because I can let my plants get close to 5-6 feet tall if needed. Ideally I want to train them to be smaller and maybe throw in a scrog screen.

For being a 60 sativa 40 indica mix, these leaves are very sativa like.

Should these clones get any earth juice in these cups, or should I wait until they are in their new pots and use up the ocean forest?

I was unable to get big perlite or coir and am wondering how much that is needed. A lot of people use it but I get stared at by most gardeners when I even mention perlite. Is cannabis just picky about these things?

It has been my experience that stepping up pots gradually is the better way to go, I've never used compost pots so cant really comment on those... I have used six in square plastic pots and it's definitely not futile to use them, though you'd prob be better off just going with a 1gal for a bit then stepping up to the 3.

Throwin' in a screen might not be a bad idea, but at the very least you should definitely train them since you're using a 430... penetration isn't so great.

As for the EJ, hard to say really... once again, I've never used it.... I wouldn't give them any just yet, but ultimately the plants should let you know. If you do decide to give them some I would go very very light with it...

When it comes to perlite/coir I hear a lot of folks using anywhere from 10-30%... I've never used the OF so hard to say if it's absolutely necessary. It will definitely give you better aeration, which is never a bad thing.... unless your trying to stretch out the watering frequency.

Wish I could be of more help Calimed, but there are a lot of variables that I've never dealt with personally so it's hard to give definitive answers... is this your first grow??

Yes, this is my first grow. I have done indoor hydroponics for vegetables, but never organic soil or cannabis. you are definitly right about all the variables! I am obsessed, but need to realize it will take a couple runs before I dial everything in for my particular setup.

Best advice I can give is to read... read... read... and read some more... internet, books, ect.

If you don't already, pick up a couple of grow guides... they'll run you through the basics, and will be there if you ever need a quick refresh. But just remember that nothing is set in stone... there are as many different ways to grow as there are growers.

nothing is better then experience... so you'd better get to it!

Best wishes on your first run and happy growin!
