Hey man, you have all our support here. This coming from a 54 yr old going to my first cardio Dr appt on Friday. You're going to have a cheering section here
I'm 64 years old on the 26th March - and in pretty good shape otherwise - the surgeon even told me that I'm one of the fittest 60+ people he's ever seen - so all my training and dieting over the past years should help get me thru the surgery and recovery - he also said that there is a 1% chance or less that I might snuff it - there is always a little risk apparently - but I'll take those odds - all day - lol
- Good luck to you Harley - it's a surgical adventure we are both going to have to go thru - ASAP -
I'm sorry to hear that you to have to undergo the knife. The way I look at it is as if I was an old race car - that needs major mechanic attention - before it can race again - and for sure I've had the pedal to the metal most of my adult life - so now let's see - if they can fix me -I'm sorry to hear that you to have to undergo the knife. We're similar ages brother and like you, I've also been thrashing it most of my years. Fingers crossed, other than a few minor aches and pains, things appear to be in relatively good shape; providing you don't count the lack of teeth, hair, hearing and eyesightThe way I look at it is as if I was an old race car - that needs major mechanic attention - before it can race again - and for sure I've had the pedal to the metal most of my adult life - so now let's see - if they can fix me -
Very interesting and stalwart attitude, Gypsy. If the doctor's dare, and you are game, it should all work out too.The way I look at it is as if I was an old race car - that needs major mechanic attention - before it can race again - and for sure I've had the pedal to the metal most of my adult life - so now let's see - if they can fix me -
Brum - Brum - this old race car needs a major service - got a leaky Mitral heart valve which the surgeon/mechanic gave me three possible fixes to choose from -We're similar ages brother and like you, I've also been thrashing it most of my years. I'm sure they'll fix you up great.
Keep up the good work brother.
I worked in the health service all my life and agree entirely with you; taking Pharma meds all your life is not a good option.Brum - Brum - this old race car needs a major service - got a leaky Mitral heart valve which the surgeon/mechanic gave me three possible fixes to choose from -
1. It looks like the valve is repairable with my own tissue
2. If he can't fix it with what material I have there of my own - then he can with some 'natural' material (probably from a human or pig) - this will only last for 10-15 years - then need to be redone via open heart surgery -
3. He can fit a prosthetic valve - made of titanium or carbon fibre that should last forever - but I will have to take Winstrol a blood thinner- for the rest of my life - and I'm really not keen on having to take any pharma meds forever -
The number one option is my best choice - hopefully he can repair that valve without needing the natural or the prosthetic option - but if I do then I'll go for number 2 -
Oh - the hair went 30 years ago - 4 false teeth already - and I'm squinting trying to write this all on my phone - lol - <creaking old codger sounds>
A neighbor had a med emergency and they laid him on the table as soon as he went to the ER, shredded aorta. They cut his chest open, removed his heart, worked on it while it was on the bench, and replaced a section of damaged aorta tube. He was walking around his house a week later.Welp, here's the poop, troop...
At 56 years old I'm heading for open heart surgery in about 8 weeks. They said I need a mechanical aortic valve. In 2 weeks I will have a heart cath. Definitely not looking forward to having my sternum cracked open.
Any IC members undergo open heart surgery? Tell me about your experience..
Building up my blood bank might be a good idea. I am anti-jab.A neighbor had a med emergency and they laid him on the table as soon as he went to the ER, shredded aorta. Good luck. If you are adverse to the jab and the clots ask about building up your own blood bank.
Right there with your brother!! At my age, everyday I wake up without that blinding headache or crushing chest pain, I know it's going to be a great day... even though I'm almost bald, have several missing teeth, things look blurry without my glasses, and I don't hear half of what's going on.... other than a few minor aches and pains, things appear to be in relatively good shape; providing you don't count the lack of teeth, hair, hearing and eyesight
Especially if you have a less common blood type. I refused blood products for a recent hernia surgery and asked the anestesiaoligist about saving blood. It is a hassle but can be done.
You can confess to CBD use and they will be on alert for EC reactions without tagging you as a pothead.
