Thanks for stopping by Sleepy & GMT

Now, I have a question :1help:

I've read somewhere that fan leaves aren't all that important and that they can be removed to a certain extent, can anyone verify that for me please??
Reason is that I think the Free Love would bennefit greatly if we removed the top 2 sets of large fan leaves as, with the fatt leaves, the bud sites underneath them hardly get any light :chin:
Of course it would look silly, a bit like a tall lady with a tu-tu on, but I think it would increase the yield whilst at the same time not harming the plant as there's plenty more big and small fan leaves remaining

Let me know what you think, cheers

Alex, I'm sure that some one will contradict me, but do not do it. (I'm assuming there that they are healthy) in which case leave them. Plants don't grow leaves for fun, they searve a very important purpose. If you want plants to shoot out side stems, there are 3 solutions. Either start with branchy genes, top the plant, (can be done as many times as you want) or use methods such as LST. Also wider pots encourage side growth. If you do, it's true that the plant will react by growing the branches but only so it gets the chance to grow some more leaves. If ya get mites, then there are benefits, or if yellowing or burnt leaves are blocking healthier leaves light, then remove them, but large fan leaves soaking up light is exactly what you want, how better to get all that energy into the plant.

I concur completely... I very rarely remove a healthy leaf...
top, FIM, or LST... my plants are bred to branch well, that is to say, it is a trait i select for...

Morning all

Ok time for an update!

We ended up with 10 females. 2 FL, 4 (!) AM, 2 JH, 1 VBS & 1 IM :joint:

I wasn't going to transplant them into big pots as we're more going for the SOG type thing, but I think I might go for it this weekend as I'm noticing a stand still in growth in the 6 smaller plants on the left. Might stick the big girls in 11ltr & the 6 smaller ones in the 6,5ltr pots :chin:

I noticed the smell of the Apollo Mists yesterday, they smell just like the Cali Mist we smoked in Amsterdam last month, can't wait for them to be finnished :woohoo:
The 2 Free Love ladys are slightly different, one probably beeing (going by what H3ad said) G13xNYCDxG13 the other G13xNYCD. The G13xNYCD has a nicer bud structure in my opinion, much tighter than the other one. Both smell less than the AM which I'm surprised about, maybee they start stinking later :D

That's it for now, I'll post some pics tomorrow

G'day Sleepy

There's plenty of headroom, I've got them stood on 2 piles of boxes at the moment to get them as close to the light as poss. Taking those out will give me around 2' more to work with

Must say that I preferred the big plants from last run though. Don't think I'll do a run with such short veg time again :chin:

Wow, it's looking to me that now xmas is on it's way, everyone's getting jungle fever. Things are gonna get out of hand Alex with 10 girls in a wardrobe if you start potting large and vegging long. Only an observation mate, but I don't know. If you switch to flower now it will be Late Jan next year to harvest. Are you happy putting that back?
I saw you say that you now have a separate vegging chamber, so that'll help out, but if ya went for the SOG option, I think I'd stick to that decision and fine tune things once you've taken that many full term. Like I said mate, it's just a thought.

Hey GMT

We're on day 25 of flower allready :D I can see where you're coming from though mate :biglaugh:

Do you think repotting so late will make a big difference or is it allready too late? I think there's still a lot of pottential in the small girls :chin:

EDIT: Or is repotting in flower something I shouldn't do anyway? Couldn't think why not but you never know till ya ask :chin:

Lol, I thought you'd only just sexed em with you posting that today.
No dont worry about repotting at any stage, just do it if they need it. But after about 4 weeks to the end it isn't worth it. As you want them slightly hungry from 2 weeks to finish and the roots aren't growing as fast at that point anyway.

Ok folks here's the pics then....

I was gonno get this sorted earlier but we woke up to this on saturday, which kind of threw the weekend plan somewhat :biglaugh:

Ok here's 2 group shots. One's with flash one without, still not wuite sure on how best to go about it. I'm hoping to buy us a 350D sometime soon :joint:

This one is a Free Love, probably a G13xNYCD, H3ad will have to verify that for me

This is the top view of the 2 FLs. The top one in the pic is (probably) G13xNYCDxG13, the other one is the one I posted above...

This is the back Apollo Mist, she's stretched loads 'n is a good 10" taller than the other one now :yoinks:

This is the other AM, she's shorter but bushier. We pollinated one of the lower bud sites with one of the Free Love males, quite interested to see what comes out of it :chin:

Front view of the 2 AMs...

And this is the one VBS we've got going at the mo. She's started purpling over the last week, I think she might be a keeper :D

Well that's it for now. They're just on plain water at the moment, haven't added anything for about 3 weeks now but they don't seem to need anything :chin: Looks like I found the right soil for our favourite plant

Cheers

Snow - looks beautiful Alex! I'm thinking roasting chestnuts, a brandy, a lady, a vaporizer, bottle of Viagra - whoops - got carried away there... :biglaugh:

I must say you've come a long way in a short time. Looks absolutely fabulous in there, good job filling the room.

Gonna go warm my seat and kick my feet up...

Thanks Alex, a pleasure to pass on what I can.

Let's not discount your hard work either, you took the info, and ran with it. Now look at you, you're chest deep in the stuff :biglaugh:

These girls are gonna look like snow cones - I can almost see it now :yoinks:

I work as hard as the missus lets me :biglaugh:

Ok on with the show :joint:

Group shot....

These are of my favourite Free Love. If I had room I'd deffinately say she's a keeper...

This is the other one. She has a mag or zinc defficiancy but it's under control...

This is the VBS. She lookes purple in the pics but the bud sites are more black than anything :yoinks:

These are the Apollo Mists. The back one is real hazy I'm looking forward to her most :yummy:

This is the one lone Indóor Mix from Nirvana. I'm a little puzzled as to what she is as the IM is more indica sided, but she has the thinnest leaves I've seem to date :chin:

I'm sorry if some pics are double but there's so many this time I'm a bit confused as to what's what :biglaugh:

Let me know what you think and if anyone reckons that the pics are better this way
