OMG you NEED to DITCH your synthetic nutrients

Yeah seen this. He also says in a late video that this is only one study, and a lot more need to be done.
I’ve grown for a long time, and I can definitely tell when it hasn’t been flushed properly using coco.Doesn’t matter how long it’s cured for either.
I have experimented a lot of 30+years

Because in my....sheesh....40+ years in this game I've learned, for tthhe most part, it's the grower more than what you grow with.
Yeah even after 30. I’m still learning .
Sometimes I just make rookie mistakes 🤷‍♂️
I do love a good outdoor grow . With big plants expressing their true genetics.especially Sativa.
This A5 haze x Congo has an amazing clear , energetic high that keeps you in a good mood.

Think of nutes as paint. You only need so much to properly paint a new room. In most plants, excess paint is not delivered to the job site. Cannabis grabs what is in the root zone and sends it up to the job site. The workers simply add layers of paint when there is too much available. "Flushing" does not scrape the layers of paint away, it only helps remove the nutes currently in the sap and a few (non painted on) 'mobile' elements.

Make your errors on the not enough nutes (deficiency) vs. riding the edge of overfeeding at the skip of a VPD heartbeat. ;)

I used to believe the same thing. lololol Refined salts have no complex molecules in them. Used properly, organic inputs will *always* create more complex terpene and cannabinoid profiles vs. the same NPK/trace elements in a refined salt 'used properly.'

Think not? Your awareness/experience needs expansion. ;)

Frankly, I'd rather not go through the hassle of all I would have to deal with changing over to soil from perlite. All to get a somewhat better terp profile while getting less yield and not really knowing what's going on in the rootzone. I get what you're saying, although there's no science to back that up as of yet. I just can't justify that in a setup the size of mine. Maybe a smaller grow or even outdoor and I would consider it for sure.

lol, less yield.. heh Yeah, ok. ;)
Your best bet would be to set up a few side by sides yourself from your favorite clone mum. Once you do that you can come back and tell me you have lower yields.

It's possible to add it to refined salt grows, same as adding other organics for terp boosting. You could make rabbit manure tea as a terpene booster instead of a full nutrient, then use it as a drench at flip and week 2. When you stir the manure tea each day it significantly increases N losses. You end up with a low N/P, moderate K profile with lots of molecules which make up those complex terps.

When the plant does not have access to the complex molecules it needs for growth, it uses extra energy it could be creating mass with to create those complex molecules from NPK first. Bunny poop seems to provide a number of those complex molecules.

I strongly recommend trying it small scale before poo pooing it. ;)

Had great success using AN Sensi line up. Watering to 10-15% run off to avoid salt build up was necessary but seemed a bit wasteful of my water and nutes. Plus the nutes aren’t cheap.

Since to moving to living soil my Local Skunk looks like a different strain. Smaller but way tighter buds. Smell and taste totally different and way louder. Same pheno using salt based smelled like straight cat piss. Grown in living soil it smells like I would expect, a skunks ass.

For me the bottom line is I don’t like using 10 different expensive plastic bottles of nutes and then dumping a percentage of them mixed with RO water down the drain.

AN is a great product to start with IMO
LC’s mix in the organic threads is the next best level

Poo pooing it. Heh

I may do that at some point. I still need to be cautious about bringing anything organic in here as I've struggled with pathogens, bugs etc over the years so it makes me a bit gun shy. As time goes on and I trust the stability of everything in here I'll be open to experimention.

I grew my 20 year old deathstar cut in a 5 gallon bucket of my buddies living soil in the same room as my flood trays. They looked like completely different plants. The soil plant produced flowers smaller and less dense than the hydro plants.

Yield is not a real argument here. The only legit argument is that the slower vegetative growth of the organic plant can lead to more concentrated oils.

My number one reason I grow completely inorganic with lab grade salts is exactly that. I use zero pesticides organic or not, not even neem goes in my rooms.

I would say your buddy needs to work on their living soil, you need to work on your flowering environment, or maybe a bit of both. ;)

As for it not looking like the salt grown at all, I completely agree and have seen that myself over and over. :)

The thousands I spend on electricity beg to differ that my environment isn’t perfect.
