OldOne's 2nd cab run - PLL / PPK / Arjan's Haze 3

You have built some cool stuff. To do this right sure takes a good deal of time, patience, and money. I'm going to rip the back off the cab and start fresh, placing the holes in better places. Also, I think the thermometer I bought doesn't work well, going to try getting another one to compare.

I just germed and planted some bagseeds today in my PC with 4 23W 6500k spiral CFLs. Hopefully the cab will be ready when the new babies are.
You are wise to dial in your cab with bagseed.

Try and make your exhausts as high as possible and near the socket end of the PLL's as this is where they get hottest. Your intake(s) should be as low as possible.

I took a lot of time designing my cab before I ever cut the first piece of wood. ScrubNiga's PC fan thread helped a lot...its a good read.

Good luck,
OO

Yeah, when i'm ready to get off the bed I stick my arm over the side and fire a few rounds towards the floor to kinda “soften up” the area a little.

Then I roll off onto my back and pop a few under the bed.

By this time they are running out the other side so I jump up, go into the combat crouch, and fire a spread across the wall going towards the door.

The little bastards are crafty though, and apparently either very religious or cannibalistic, (I can't tell the difference) because by the time I get the lights on they have removed their dead and wounded every time.

I finally get my pudding snack and make it back to bed. As I lay there eating I can hear them under the bed again, speaking in whispers as they plan their next attack.

I hold my still warm gun, loaded with the safety off, clutched tightly to my chest, and start planning my next move. Which will probably be when I have to go potty.

As with most things in life, thorough discipline with a systematic focus on detail yields positive results.

Do you do your own reloads?

You'd reduce your cost by 60-70%. One pudding snack and one potty run a night, hell, the savings would cover a decent scale and press in no time.

Combine that with some sandbags against the wall to reduce your daily joint compound expenditures, and you'll be downright wealthy in no time.

I guess I spend money and time on keeping my knees in good enough shape for the ol' long jump.

Six of one, half-a-dozen of the other... Of course, if you sprain an ankle, you can still make it to the shitter. I'm stuck with a bed pan or a real mess.

What the hell are you guys turning my thread into? LMAO

Invest in a little tech guys...I roll with radar and IR guided automatic laser turrets myself. No muss no fuss no bother...

I think your thread is a demonstration of this theme. While some of this later discussion is arguably tangential, I believe the enumeration of other examples (consistent with this basic and essential theme) may serve to reinforce this fundamental idea, thereby enriching the experience--and quite possibly expanding the awareness-of the loyal followers of your grow.

Be methodical.

Establish a system.

Consider economy and efficiency.

Follow through.

See... it's all there.

Beretta or Jacks.

It's all there.

Damn...my pulse pump delivers about 1 liter of nutes in a minute...is this too much?

yes, you said your timer will do 7 events in 24. that's an event every 3.43 hrs. you can't change that unless you get another timer.

you can't change the minute of operation unless you get another timer.

so that leaves you with restricting the pump output or constructing a tunable bypass for the flow.

one way of restricting is to just block part of the flow with a washer or spool or something in the line. you might have to play with orifice aperture to get the volume you want.

another way is to make a vertically oriented loop in the line to add head penalty. this is quickly adjustable.

from what i know so far about your build if you run about a 3" air gap and pulse every 3.43 hrs 16 oz's or half a liter should be about right.

well, back to the scissors.

Hi D9,

I want to avoid a trickle effect, right? IE, trickling some smaller quantity over that 1 minute. You pulse a "slug" of nutes all at once I think. What quantity do you use?

What if I pulse the whole liter once or twice a day?

Thanks bro,

In D9's thread, there's a link to a PowerPoint that suggests more frequent, lower volume pulses are beneficial.

That said, if you don't have a crazy two hundred dollar cycle timer laying around, then one or two pulses a day would be better than no pulse. I think...

Better Fans

Better Fans

Since I have no idea what the specs are on the fans I have, I decided to shop around and get some new ones. Even with the door open (making my intake like 10 times the size of the exhaust), temps still too high.

I also have light traps on back that may slow air flow, and will have to add carbon scrubbers.

I found a fan that puts out a surprising CFM with little noise compared to anything similar. AeroCool Shark 140mm

96.5 cfm with only 29.6 dba - seems too good to be true. I don't want to go bigger than 140mm Hopefully these will do the trick when properly positioned.

is that output measured from the height it will actually be used at? your volume test should be at that level with the pump immersed to the same depth as your intended reservoir.

i prefer small frequent pulses. right now in veg i'm using 6 oz's every 2 hrs and in flower 12 oz's every 2 hrs.

this in a 5 gal bucket so you will dial it down for a smaller amount of medium.

you will still have to adjust for your particular lighting and environment.

it takes 15 seconds for 6 oz's and 30 seconds for the 12.

that's with severely restricted mag-drive 950's.

i think you can work with what you've got.

set it up and then start restricting it.

did you find that timer that cactus jack referred to in my thread. i'm pretty sure it had more event capability and it was cheap too.

i'm on break, got to go. i'm only halfway. better burn another bowl.

It is too good to be true.

You have to push through a carbon scrubber so fan needs pressure, not just cfm. The Deltas I linked to above are fairly quiet and have decent pressure. I selected them after much research on Scrub's thread. Stealth is my #1 requirement for my cab.

Your pics showed that the exhausts were some distance down from the roof of the cab. This may be trapping a layer of wasrmer air around the lights. Do have a circualtion fan going?

Oh and how are the plants liking it? ImaginaryFriend was running some insanely high temps a while back and he's doing OK.

I'm running essentially the same lights in a small cab and its working out. If an old fool can do it, anyone can...:)

Way ahead of you there big guy...test run with actual new PPK without the coco though...

i prefer small frequent pulses. right now in veg i'm using 6 oz's every 2 hrs and in flower 12 oz's every 2 hrs.
I got the mental picture of your pulse being delivered in a short period of time so that a "slug" of fluid flowed through the PPK en mass pulling fresh air in behind it. I'm concerned that if I restrict my system enough I'll get a dripping effect and that slug wont form.

Nope, looking soon...
Editing to say thats exactly the timer I have...

This is stupid. Someone needs to do or say something. Or take a picture.

Take a picture of that funny clone.

That'll make me laugh.

Fuck it, I'm going to get some pizza.

I'm so bored, I put up pictures of roots in my thread.

Nothing else.

Out of focus.

Just out of focus roots.

Peperoni.

I'll check to see if you put up a pic of that AH3 in the morning. You could decorate it or something. Like a Christmas clone.

I'll leave a comment. I promise.
