i miss it too...i was there for 3-4 years..cant remember..handle was originalguru back then. But i do feel a lot safer here..now that the servers are in holland. Funny how IC is still so small compared to OG...i thought the growth would be rapid. Seemed like the next logical place to come..allthough i was browsing while OG was still around.

EDIT:

Fuck i remember when BushyOlderGrower started gaining fame...and Bubblemans first bubblebag post...oh good ol times :D

Hey there,

I too was a dedicated overgrower and miss the unique blend of people and information...

I used to kick it most in the politics forum where there was always a shitstorm or two brewing... is this why there isnt one here???

Anyhoos a big shout out to the likes of Benttech, KifRichards and many more whos names escape me... even the rightwingretards/trolls were good for a laugh (sometimes)

Goodtimes :joint:

Must say IC is defo admirably carrying the flag. :respect:

From the immediacy of the posts here, it appears OG still lives in the collective consciousness of MJ Cyberspace . . . and yes the paranoia caused by its downfall was huge.

With out OG, most here would still be smoking bag seed!!

Except does anyone remember that one troll on og that would put up goatse pictures. Incase you dont know its someone streching their asshole open. Worst fucking pest ever cause he kept making new user names and ruining good threads just by posting a pic in his reply. Other than that fun time. I think the thing most miss about og is the responses you got.

Yeah it was awesome to be in a community of 100000+ members and to see over 1000 members all online...

The responses were usually super-fast and being worldwide it never slept... just hit that refresh button and voila!

But yeah its not about the numbers really...

Yup this site for whatever reason doesnt attract the fuckwits that OG did and everyone here seems to be respectful etc...

Still needs a politics forum though for the ranters and ravers ;)

Especially in these dark times...

Peace.

I disagree with anyone who thinks OG had any quality problems, its quanity of members brought with them their ideas, and thus enriched the community that much more.

In the case of information, more is always better. That is apparent in IC a year after OGs demise, the bulk of raw info here has expanded by leaps and bounds. What made OG such a great site was it large number of members.

I agree with Yukon, OG changed significantly once High Times became a significant factor with them. They started getting more trolls and flamers. Bad info is worse than no info, and a lot of bad info got thrown around (which is why I joined IC a month before OG went down)

Hello all,

Got to agree.

I too am an OG refugee.

But what was lost on OG has been resurected here at IC.

PS...and remember Timmy - OG is not really gone if we keep her in our hearts.

Hmmm, I was mostly in the the outdoor, Organic, growroom building and Microgrow sections, I thought the info there was typically superb.

The thing that really refined the info there was the growfaqs, it only made it there after alot of scrutiny.

I think any popular site can become a "mess" after a while, online forums aren't books that can be edited, they are for (relitivley) free speach, and exchange of opinion.
Many factual guides were provided on most subjects to provide a guideline for beginers.

Eventually as IC becomes older, and its post and member count goes up, it will too will seem a disorganized "mess", but that is what comes with popularity, and its not a bad thing.

OverGrow had Time as well

OverGrow had Time as well

OG had time as well, to sort FAQ and Techniques into easy to find Sticky Threads or a Menued FAQ. The Strain Guide was easy to use and find what you where looking for and it GREW as did the Membership.

What IC needs to do is put together a ummm I don't know?
One Place for FAQ and Sticky Threads of knowen Techs.
I'm thinking more in lines for the New Grower Members who don't know thier way around here or a grow room.

This ain't Kansas any more.

OG had Banner Ads that helped pay Band Width and help for running it.
There was good info at OG just as there is here. You just have to look around more for it here. :pointlaug:

Perhaps with time....

Most of the stuff is pretty easy to find here, and I wasn't trying to make OG sound bad at all, I spent most of my time in the hydro and indoors sections. A lot of the stuff there was great, but some people would give lethal advice on certain combinations of chemicals, or dealing with electricity.

They were always corrected immediately by other members though.
