Og refugees?

ok im new 2 the whole internet growin scene. and the growin scene in general , decided 2 gro cus im fed up payin stupid money for crap wet weed. but ive seen a lot of people refer 2 themselves as "og refugees" and generally makin reference 2 it. could any1 enlighten me on wut its all about?

you would get 5 replys to a growing question within 1 minute of posting, then after 2 days it would grow to 3-5 pages.

O.G. stands for Overgrow.com. A huge cannabis site with tons of info and members. Overgrow is also affiliated with Heavens Stairway seed store. All based out of Canada,..the seed store got busted and the owner thrown in jail. Now the RCMP have the the OG servers and all that great info. But don't worry, this site is just as good. (almost). And I believe the servers for this site are based in Europe. I think?

I came from OG myself, just before it was shut down.

To give an idea as to it's size, vBulletin.com has it listed as one of the largest vBulletin forums to ever exist. Over 1 million threads and over 100,000 members (I am being very conservative, since I don't feel like searching it on vBulletin)

I am a OG refugee as well, OG was a presence that I thought would always be here, when it was gone it left a hole that is still not filled for me.

So much acumlulated knowlege, and it had been around for so long, that its member base was huge!!

I found OG in late 2001, in 2003 I became a posting member, less than a year later I was a member of the Team Overgrow Moderator/Mentor team, something that was beyond my wildest dreams! I even had a sticky thread where I had compiled a list of Strainguide reports that contained outdoor growing reports, not much later OG was suddenly gone!

IC is filling the gap nicely, although it will take time to accumulate the members and knowlege base that was OG. The Strainguide and GrowFaqs alone were priceless!

Funny I was just thinking today that OG has been gone now for "almost a year"....the crazy thing is that it seems like 10 years ago.

Sometimes after I smoke a bowl I STILL turn on my computer and type in "www.overgrow.com" ...just out of habit.

I love ICMag., but I def. miss some of the peeps that fell off the map w/ OG

i miss og and all of my buddies that i got to know there.... its the community. i thank og for....... was it not for me stumbling my stoned ass that one day reading high times magazine blazed as hell on an article pulled from overgrow.com that intrigued me into typing that in. after that i was regularly surfing og gathering knoledge...... was lurking for about 6mos then i decided to get my 250whps and my c13 cab...... made my $40 carbon filter thanks to the grow faqs, assembled my cab thanks to growfaqs also.... learned a great deal of information! then i started posting there at the begining of 2005 around the time i started my second "indo-gro".

i love ic and have met manny great people here. i'm still learning stuff everyday! can't imagine how it would be without ic! Thanks for having us here IC and the IC Crew!

I built my room from the GrowFaq on OG. was only a member a few short months but what a site. This site is quite good as well. and if OG built the room then IC is going to tweak the room. if I could ever get any help on my threads

I know exactly what you mean, Nokuy. I remember it like it was seconds ago.
I knew something was wrong when I tried to type in the site address, and got nothing....So I headed over to a smaller forum & asked what was up, and was given a link to a thread at IC. I came over here, read, read, and read some more, and was just devastated about OG getting canned. So I joined IC amidst the "doomsday" panic, and settled into my new home. I miss my old OG friends that disappeared and never came back, but I truely value my friends here on IC (people like BC, Genki, Verite, POMH, Pops, for example---You guys are pretty much buddy cornerstones of this site) The support system here's amazing, it really is.

I gotta tell ya, with all the pants-shitting that was going on, it did kind of seem like it was a "run for your lives" kind of deal for a while. Hell, I remember threads about nothing but demolishing grows for safety's sake. I think it took the majority of people a good couple of months to calm down enough to come back out of the shadows and get back to regular ol' posting...

I love IC, but I'll always miss OG....

i dont think overgrow can ever be replaced by another grow site, i love this site and love alot of people on here. but there was just something alot more special about overgrow, im not to sure what it is but it has some kind of amazing power which made me feel incredible good about myself when read through peoples posts and replys.

i like how overgrow still lives on through its members, i have seen alot of people from overgrow on here which is very nice.

im still hoping that one day overgrow will come back, but in the back of my heart i know it probably never will
