Thanks fizz, and I know what you mean hoping they arrive safely. Even more importantly, get met he hell off the damn Jet! I have flown over the ocean quite a few times, but I am not looking forward to the flight. I have no faith in humanity anymore especially the peanut cutting airlines lol It has been 5 years since I have flown, and 9 since I have flown over the ocean. Will be my first trip over the Atlantic. Nyquil should do the trick!

Good luck to you as well I hope you make it safely along with your entry should you decide.

good luck with your entries pureknowledge ,and dont worry about the flight its still safest way to travel, look forward to smokin some fine weed with you all

I've said this before....the entries will all go out to judges in like baggies....you are welcome to send in 1g samples,

if not in the same baggie we use, it will get placed into our cup baggies.
[/QUOTE]

Hi DG

Thanks, fantastic, much appreciated. This way it gets passed out to the Judges with the least amount of work for the organisers as well as the best possible representation of each 1g entry. If this entailed more work for the organisers it would be much harder to ask for, but I really do think this is an easy win-win for all.

I would happily buy a pack of 100 "IC420cup spec" entry baggies from Seedbay for £5 beforehand to save you the time and bother of the transferring them over.

:thank you:

No one has ever been permitted to judge their own, not to my knowledge, and if this has been the case

with others sneaking to do it somehow, then shame on them....and yes, although I'd PREFER to think that no one would judge biasedly...leaving that

option open is not something the cup is willing to toss the dice on. ;)

I do not personally think anybody has sneaked around to do anything, but as you are obviously aware, some of what you are doing is to show the world at large that it was a fair and proper competition, I sat beside you and OP plenty the last 2 years, and do personally know this to be the case, but with a www full of stoned/paranoid people, some just looking for something to moan about, at a cup most did not actually bother to attend and witness ... you are making it watertight and I do totally understand why and applaud that.

All the Judges I have met at the 420 are 100% spot on honest good people who made the effort to get to the cup and took their job there very seriously. Several of the people I was there with are now friends, 2 are coming over here this weekend for Spannabis... If I said to any of them "Please vote well for my sample #22" I would bet my dog every single one would tell me to take a long hike... Likewise, if I or they ran into anything they suspected was from someone they knew, they would just score it honestly and unbiasedly, the same as any other, no matter if it was from their best friend, or online Nemesis.... Read the "Judges Tasting Notes" I did last year... I stuck my neck out and published not only my scores, but straight from the hip, unvarnished opinions.

If I was a dodgy git, I could turn up with a few mates, if I was in a Rap group I might even have "a crew" ... they could all get Judges packs and help me out marking my sample #22 with 9s and 10s while giving the rest, my rivals, 4s and 5s... or worse... but this would show up clearly the moment you published all the Excel spreadsheet scores ....they know they would be toast. This is why some people are so keen to see the figures, I think it would take you less than a minute to do, but save hours of arguments and daft conspiracies later on.

As you mentioned, some Judges submit scoresheets with some scores missing, so the organisers have to give an average score for that missing field for a fair result. This is not a problem and is straightforward to do. Likewise, if a Judge has also entered sample #22, you ignore that Judge's score for #22 and enter an average to the totals, no problem. If you ban me from Judging Grower Sativas because I have entered #22, you would not stop "my 5 dodgy mates" giving it 10's and Zeroes to the opposition.. So just open up the scores for all to see, it will instantly stop all silly speculation and, if anything, help to tighten up the Judge's scoring as their inputs will be preserved forever, the best Judges will usually be only a point or two away from average, any Muppets will be all over the place and any dodgyness by any groups will be exposed forever, for all to see... As I pointed out, we can have some fun amongst the Judges to see whose score is nearest the average, harmless fun that should lead to us all learning more and doing the job better, whilst also making the whole process 100% open and above [any sensible..] criticism.

I do understand you are trying to make this thing watertight and that there is a whole bunch of malcontents with an agenda just waiting to pounce on any discrepancies they percieve. Likewise, I understand that the concept of an Entrant being allowed to be a Judge seems alien on initial inspection, but with a bit of thinking through and understanding, it is honestly really very simple in practice. I would really like to see some

DG Seeds entries there again this year, as well as being allowed to judge in categories I have entries in, I know it will be honest and fair, it would be sad to loose that freedom ....and bunch of entries ... just to prove to a few ill informed moaners that it was all really straight after all.

I did not enter last year as I was pissed off about this issue not being addressed, please think about it, you are effectively punishing me for entering because of what appears to be an ill thought out knee jerk reaction to a handfull of idiots who just want to bitch about the fantastic cup you are kindly and generously organising. As it stands I would probably either enter or attend, but not both, sadly, the way it is now, you are effectively discouraging both with the current arrangement just to quieten 5 or 10 difficult people on the Internet, not usually people who were there, who are desperate to find something wrong.

I have tried to explain it clearly and hope I have actually managed to this time.

P.S. written offline before seeing Fizzbomb's post, FWIW I agree and there was no need to edit anything I wrote above, nice to see people chilling out and having a good convo about this. :)

:tiphat:

Good Luck all

Chaos, I'm not satisfying anyone because they are whining and moaning...oh no sir...no knee jerk responses from me...I shoot straight from the hip...those who know me already know this...but an entrant of a category can not judge that same category.

This is the 2011 cup, how things were done last year was out of my hands due to me entering...and much the reason why I agreed to help Gypsy this year and as a result not enter...I've had my heart in the cup since the first official cup in 2004, and although the cup suffered last year due to the volcanic eruption disrupting many travel plans, there were last minute changes made to accommodate that and try and get the samples all judged.

With ANY event such as this one, there must be rules that are applied to all...and not selectively. So the rules are going to please some and displease others...no way around that and I'm not going to try to please everyone, for that is clearly an impossible task...hopefully the majority will understand why rules are necessary.

Scores will be published in the manner I've already stated, and will be quite transparent. How many times do I have to say this for it to sink in?

Growers can elect to enter their choice 28g of mostly indica or mostly sativa, or 7.5g of hash, same as breeders.

No one is going to be permitted to judge their own entry....period.

This cup will be run to Gypsy's specifications...and the same high standards that he set forth in previous years.

So I say to you all....enter if you wish....buy a different category judge pass if you want to judge, and please do come along and experience all the excitement and fun planned for you all this year.

:thank you:

if this is true and there were extra judges packs, why were they not given to members who were here at the cup and could not afford to buy them? :-(

Mr.Haze....perhaps you should ask Gypsy...send him a pm if you are so interested to know why.

fizzbomb, I was stuck in the dam not being able to catch my flight after the cup. Some of the packs were incomplete. You are mixing up two different things...a full judge package with those that were incomplete, so you see...you are way out of line making assumptions about something you know nothing about, insulting a member in the process. Please, lose the attitude mate, it's just not needed.

Everyone nit-picking and nagging, please stop regurgitating last year's event with your negativity, criticizing, and get on with a more positive attitude. :dance013:

I'm done answering some of you about this coming cup...how it's run, how it's judged, how passes are sold, who should have to purchase one and who shouldn't, what baggies the samples go in, and on and on and on and on. Don't believe me? Try me. See how fast your negativity from this point forward will simply be a waste of your keystrokes. ;)

Those who are SERIOUS about participating in the cup are urged to come see for yourself what an absolutely great time is in store for all....you'll know because you'll be one of them. :ying:

edit to add: any reference made that could potentially compromise security is removed.

This is the first that I've read this thread, and to be honest it's quite disturbing.

First, if you're not paying for it, who are some of you to bitching about how things are done? Secondly, if you have trust issues on the way things are done, don't enter. It's not hard. Taking pictures of scorecards is a little rediculous. Some of the comments and off the wall accusations in this thread are straight out aggravating.....

I don't care who you are, you're done cluttering this thread with negativity and innuendos of wrongdoing.....

...What is with all the drama?

I can tell you from the business side of things, we have partners that we are working with to organize the Cup, and they are all very excited and cannot wait for the event. There is so much planning and organizing that goes into this event. We are all volunteers on this, with DG leading the organizational side of things. None of us are personally making a dime off of this, we are doing it for the Cup and the people that will be attending it. None of this is easy, so please give us a break, especially DG. To the few that are causing all the drama and negativity, organizing this event takes a lot of time and effort, you should be considerate of that.

It's time for the negativity from the minority to end, so that the majority can move on and get excited about the Cup!

- John

All the complaining seems to be coming from a small group of people that are causing drama and headaches for the rest of us.

lesson learned, back in business
The IC mag 4/20 cup is the premier event as far as growers are concerned, the fun we have is always immense and its fair to say everyone is higher than they have ever been.
Those who buy judges passes will (most likely) end up with much more for their money than if they were to buy bud from coffee shops and a guest pass (this has been the case for the previous cups and hopefully continues).
Those who cannot afford judges passes rest assured the IC mag crew are a wonderful bunch and in room of 20 there will generally be 30 joints being passed around as well as the odd pipe and of course Guiasmarius with the beautiful Roor bong that has become his trademark (that everyone hits) and is always in use.
If you have not been the feeling of unity and comfort you experience is unmatched and we all get to be our true selves for a short while, enjoying and discussing our passion with freedom and a very special bond.
Dont listen to the negativity folks, this will be amazing event and with everyones good vibes and effort it will only get better.
I can honestly say i have had some of the best times of my life at the cup and i have lived a very eventful life to say the least.
Peace and love to everyone who has been a part of it in the past, long may it continue.

HAHAHA way to put me in the spot, LOL! now i just hope the roor shop still rents bongs :) as for bubble, well we will have to see, got no way to get things over this year so.....

as for the negativity and moaning, lets leave it out eh? things are how they are and in the end a great time will be had by all who attend. even if we just had a place to hang we'd end up having a great time.

A lot of good points brought up in this thread. I agree with fizz, that if its possible score cards could be posted on the site or wherever, for the sake of entrants that didnt place. They would still have the opportunity to see where their product stands, and how well or poor it scored. Areas that they made need to improve on, or areas to work on in their breeding projects, and submit better product, and hopefully be more successful in the CUP the following year.

I just have one question. Am I able to submit my entry without actually attending the cup?

Every entry judged will be listed in the computerized final results that I've already posted about.

Judges need only to retain their Seedbay listing ID # to find their scores on the final results...if it's so important...a judge can simply take a pic of their ballot, or have it xeroxed before handing in...simple really.

You need not be present to win....but your entry must be there to be entered.

I'll post when it's time to enquire for the address, and it will be given by pm to those entering.

hi every1, ok, this post is kinda hard for me to write as i know im on thin fucking ice with some of you guys but the only way to make this the fairest competition ever is to print up the score cards, and i know its been said its ridiculous to even ask to print up the score sheets, but why is this???

DG you have stated if its so important to some of you guys then i suggest you copy or even take a pic of the scorecard yourself, but how hard would it be for some1 to take a pic of 3 scorecards at the same time, 10 pics, thats all the scorecards done when they get handed in as some of the scoresheets dont get handed in until the last minute and i dont think it would be possible for every1 to get a copy, you even said yourself DG if its so important then you guys do it, well thats a few people in this thread thats commented on printing the scorecards up at the end, if its so important to the members putting in an entry then why cant you or some1 just take a pic when you got them all in, why does it have to be left to the judge's to take a pic of their scorecard, and I understand this has never been done any other year, but it would be much much easier if you or some1 else took a pic when you got them all in instead of leaving it to every single judge to take a pic or copy their own scorecard if its that important to them, and i will say it again, ask every single person who is putting in an entry if they would like the scorecards printed up at the end also and im pretty sure 100% of them will say yes, no1 is saying dont stick them through the computer at the end to get the final score, by all means you can still do that, and i hope i dont get jumped on for this which i probably will do anyway, but what is the reasoning behind not printing the scorecards up at the end???? if its so important to the members putting in an entry and its not like its an impossible task their asking as well, taking 10 pics of 3 scorecards at the same time, why cant this be done to show every1 how their entry got on instead of a final score. so now i got to ask again, what is the reasoning of not printing up the scorecards as its not like it would be an impossible task for the organizers to do, taking 10 pics of 3 scorecards at a time would only take 2 mins at most, and its seems important to every1 putting in an entry so why cant this be done, maybe its no good me saying anything just now as i said im already on thin ice but maybe if the members that do wish for the scoresheets to be printed up also say so THEN something might change, as i know i must come across as a moany bastard but i can understand why people are maybe reluctant on saying something after reading your reply's DG when it did get mentioned, and i know its a blind competition but why does it have to be anonymous as well.

"Judges need only to retain their Seedbay listing ID # to find their scores on the final results...if it's so important...a judge can simply take a pic of their ballot, or have it xeroxed before handing in...simple really."

asking 30 stoners to go look for a copying machine or asking each 1 to take a pic once they have completed their scores would be much harder than 1 of the organizers taking 10 pics at the end, taking 10 pics at the end would be simple and much easier than asking every 1 else to do it.

DG you are always saying about this being the fairest competition ever and thats why you got the rules in place for a reason which i understand, not allowed to tell or say to any1 what your entering which is very very fair, but there is nothing fair about not printing the scorecards up for all to see at the end, why do they have to be hidden?? but not posting them they are being hidden no matter what way you look at it, and i understand that this post as well as myself might be gone in the next few mins, but i am not rude with anything i say, some people might not like what i say but that is no reason for a ban now is it as i tried to word it as politely as possible without causing too much offense, i know you have basically told me to stfu or i will be gone, but its just a question, no reason for any1 to be getting upset or angry, and if any1 wants to ask a question they should not be in fear of facing a ban but it seems like this is the way this thread is going, dont ask the correct question you could face a ban, well i hope that 1 dont cause too much offense as i dont want to be banned. hope you guys have a nice day, going for a joint myself and hopefully im still here by the time im finished :)
