Offered job at local hydro shop.

I'd do it. Unless your growing to sell. If it's just a case of personal use then it would actually be a good reason to be taking equipment into your house if anyone reported it, cops rock up at the door, yes sir, I work at the local hydro store, have a nice little herb on table setup in view of the people at the front door. I say this as I know of people who do just that work in a hydro and grow at home. Police are actually less likely to target you if you work there as you could argue it's harrasment and after they get their asses put in line by the Sargeant it's not likely to happen again. I however am in Australia where conditions, although much harsher are more geared towards police cacthing large ops so they would be watching for large amounts of equipment leaving the store. Not big commercial scale as we all know that amount of equipment if delivered through different channels but 10000K would get them licking their lips. I don't know, if the store owner is an oldhead the amount of real hands on knowledge/experience in a wide area of systems/equipment you could gain would far outweigh reading these boards, in some areas anyway as hands on without investment is better than reading, then getting it wrong when you attempt. This is just my opinion of course and there are others here with far more expertise especially as I'm on the other side of the Pacific. Hope it works out if you do go for it I'm sure you'll find it to be a great experience, to me, doing what you love for money whatever the wage=priceless...

Working at any hydro store would be awesome - You can learn allot, but would mostly be a hobby job.

Not sure how you can "learn a lot" by working @ a hydro store.

IMHO one can learn more on this forum than in ANY Hydro store.

great way to learn why you don't work for other people...

great way to learn to not work with other people...

great way to learn about the shit people do to fuck the plants up & the finished product...

great way to learn that every grower knows more than the other grower, or you...

great way to learn that bugs really do come in the bags...

great way to learn how shippers fuck with the products...

great way to learn a lot of this crap is shit...

great way to learn how your values & ethics are mutable & flexible... ;-)

Working at hydro shops can be a great job. Don't expect to get rich off of doing it. However if you like dealing with people its pretty cool. You get to learn a lot about products, you get free hydro industry shirts, posters, and free sample from reps. If your working for a good shop then you can usually get good rates on your nutes and medium. Plus if your into it you can learn about the hydro industry and how it works. Learn to not use specific terms if your worried about the whole MJ words. Use flowering instead of budding or short flowering plant or tall flowering plant for indica or sativa. Another suggestion is to not work full time if you can help it. It will keep you focused and generally you won't burn out too quickly if your only working 3 or 4 days a week.

the best thing about working in a hydro store is also the worst meeting new people Ive met everything from counterfeiters to bank robbers (you never know till you see them on the news) the trick is to resist temptation to socialize with or get involved in any shady side deals with customers because you are an easy target just sitting there in the store
