Off the shelf retail store screw-in LED and CFL bulb comparisons

Thanks Hookah, those jumper wires look pretty useful. I think I’m gonna make some side lighting strips with deconstructed 8w bulbs that I used to use that are just laying around. Mostly for veg, and also for fun. I’m super tempted to also use them to make some stealth SOG boxes too. Mmmmm.

Now all they have to do is start mass-producing the far-infrared LEDs to bring the prices down.

I think it's gonna happen soon once the greenhouses start using them on a large scale.

Red and blue LED chips are 30 times more expensive than white because white is mass-produced for industrial and commercial lighting like our SILs.

I got going on my cookie sheet SIL fixture.

I thought going with square made more sense.

The cookie sheet is about 15" X 10".

These are 10 Watt SILs which is all I've got.
Two 10 Watt SILs (60 Watt equivalent) are $5.99 but two 100 Watt equivalent bulbs are $12.99.

The ten watters' are nice because the driver is built into the LED board and nothing is connected to the back except the wires.

Crunch the metal threaded part and pull it off.

The LED board is connected to the heat sink with two screws and heat-conducting paste in between. (sticky, goopy stuff)

The hole through the heatsink is too small for the fuse resistor so I made it bigger with needle-nose pliers.

All the SILs disassembled.

Figuring out the placement.

I drilled all the holes and set it on the garbage can so the wires can stick through.

I've got heat conductive silicone and glued them in place.
(the boss watching and it kinda made me nervous. Lol)

It's sitting there drying now.

I'm not going to bother with grounding the cookie sheet because the backside of the LED board is isolated from the circuits on the other side and the cookie sheet doesn't conduct electricity?
It sure looks like metal but it's coated with something that insulates it.
It is metal though and it conducts electricity in the holes I drilled.

I will hook up the wires and figure out how to hang it tomorrow after the silicone dries.

nice job. 4k is so nice to look at/work under. you gonna flower under those too? sure looks like you'd have help with stretch...

Well not this crop the plants are C99, SourD s1, chemdog.s1 1987,NL,s1 need cuttings off them ,using them as mother.
I still need build a 3ft x 3ft mothers flood tray in the same room that will be using the 4000k sils ,
I have another 70 12.5w 4000k sils still in boxes and the ceramic holders.
The controling factor is heat im limited to 30 amps ,Im using a 12000 btu modified ac .Ive noticed the sils are quite a bit hotter than the same wattage light bars.
That said i would like to see the sils flowering effect..A

I have another room with 3 more 4ft x 4ft flood trays.
I could move the sils light frame into one of the 3 bays .
It does interest me to do a comparison ;
At the moment i have 3 sets of 640w 8 bar 3k leds in there.
Also 640w 8bar red/blue veg set on order .

I let the silicone dry overnight but the damn stuff didn't harden.

It was supposed to as far as I researched??

So I wiped the goo off two sides of each LED board and tacked the edges on with silicone that I know will harden.

I also realized that my kitty litter box makes a perfect holder for my cookie sheet.

It helps if you like both cats and cookies. Lol

Once the real silicone hardened, I flipped it over and decided to silicone the wires coming out the back so when I bend them over they don't cut into the sharp metal holes I drilled and electrify my cookie sheet.

I didn't want to wait forever for the silicone to cure so I tossed it in the oven on low.

Waiting for glue to harden is like watching grass grow. Lol
