Off the shelf retail store screw-in LED and CFL bulb comparisons

Yes they are glass so I'm not dealing with that right now.... drinking coffee at the moment..ha.

That sounds nasty!

Maybe put them in a heavy bag and gently hit it with a hammer?

It looks like the guts of the glass ones protrude into the globe area.

It's going to be hard to not damage them.

Maybe some heavy work gloves and try to twist them off?

Post some pictures of your technique and your resulting stitches. Lol 😆

With that being said, as well as the guts of the bulbs not being flat and directional, do you think it would be worth just getting different LEDs?

I started with Walmart cheap 9 Watt 800 lumens. As price come down got the 75-watt equivalent which were 13 and 1/2 Watt 1100 lumens. Then our local Walmart put the 14 Watt 1500 lumens on sale for $8 for 4 bulbs. The comment was made that the glass bulbs were killing it compared to the others. This might be true if you left the plastic dome cover on your bulbs but by taking the covers off the reading should be comparable. Just remember at the beginning of this thread taking the plastic cover off increases bulb efficiency by about 30%

I use two 7 to 1 splitters. 1 has 80 watts of LED and the other has 96 watts of LED. I had only one plant and I start with approximately 40 Watts of LED's and as the plant gets bigger I add more bulbs and then in flower I use the second splitter. My plant was in a hempy bucket straight purelite. I used off the shelf better gro orchid fertilizer (1/4 teaspoon per gallon in veg) from Lowe's. Harvest was over 5 ounces of premium buds. So over .8 gpw. Back 30 years ago in my college days we had a 150 watt HPS and our normal harvest was about two-and-a-half to three ounces. I'm totally stoked, worked better than I could have had imagined.

I'm thinking of leaving the globes on? I have one 100;water that doesn't work. I may try busting it, but carefully? Maybe wrap in duct tape and score first?

find an old sock maybe dbl layer if your wanting to be cautious......just tap it with a butter knife through the sock that should do it.

You could download the light meter app to your phone and compare the lux numbers from the globeless directional bulb you have to the glass bulbs you want to use.

These girls are about 8wks into flower now. All 5000k all the way. Don’t think I’ll have any 2700k in any of my sockets ever again.

I might let them go one more week as I’m not seeing even ten percent amber. These pics are from a few days ago but most of all three strains trichs are almost all cloudy at this point with the Tangelo showing maybe 2-5% amber, just a few here and there.

I like how you've got your buds growing horizontally!!

Are you using LST or side lighting to do that?
Lol 😆

Deep respect, ScrogMonster! That has got to be the best bud-to-overall plant ratio I have ever seen! What is the secret to that?
