Off the shelf retail store screw-in LED and CFL bulb comparisons

Bighitguy420..thanks for info on bulbs u use. I have a question regarding even lights over canopy. In a 2x2 area..i have 2 2ft 4 light vanities..i was thinking attaching to opposite ends and placing a 7 in 1 adapter without middle bulb..good enough light distribution? It would be 14 leds in a 2x2..too much light? It's that weird middle area that i am trying cover ( minus outside lights ).. Basically a 6 light (7-1 adapter) for a 2ft by 18inch area.. I don't have those light adapter extenders u use..all 15w bulbs..seems ok without overkill? Thanks for input..

I see terpene does 2 vanities of 6 bulb fixtures over a 2x4 space..spread must be good..

Yeah bud that should be fine. Get a rough estimate of the wattage u plan on running. My 1st grow I did with SIL's i had in about a 2x2.5 area with 165w.

Since people seem to be posting shots of different setups I'll share too.

350 watts from (12) 14watt 2700k bulbs, and (13) 14watt 5000k bulbs spaced about 5 inches apart in 5 rows in a 3x3 tent, equaling 38.88watts per square foot. The light sockets are mounted on a very lightweight wood crib side that happen to work perfect after cutting to size and painting white. I'll be using this space for small seed runs, cross pollinating, and just because I wanted to try flowering with sils after seeing what others have done.

well, you have enough horsepower. that would work for a light hog at 5 weeks of flower. those 14s are BFHs. don't be surprised if/when you end up at like 12W/sq ft in veg with 8/9/10 watt bulbs

No worry, by easily unscrewing the (12) 2700k bulbs I'm at an evenly distributed 182w for 20.22w per square foot for a short veg to help root development after transplanting to 1 gallon fabric pots before flower starts. My actual clone/veg and mother cabinet looks like this

picture.php

Vegetative 🌱 side measures 33" height, 21.5" depth, and 23" width, providing 3.43 square feet of growing space. Powered by (5) 14w 5000k bulbs. A total of 70 watts at 20.4 watts per sq ft. Houses 12 clones or seedlings planted in solo cups of coco coir.

The bonsai mother side measures 33" height, 21.5" depth, and 16" width, providing 2.38 sq ft. Powered by only (2) 14w 5000k LED bulbs for 28 watts at a measly 11.76 watts per sq ft, it just works haha.

That 1st plant to the left is getting too much light bud. Maybe u already fixed it. Still reading thru the thread.

What you are seeing is transplant shock from the uppot a day or 2 earlier.
And the color is off a bit since I only have 2700Ks and maybe 2 3000Ks

I wish I had too much light.

cool, man! i'll be very interested to see how your rig works out after transplant into 1s from solos. i've personally found the 14/15s to be a lot of overkill in small spaces in veg. :) are your plants light hungry?

philips 40 w 5000 lumens 6500k

Just ordered one
about 4 days ill have it they are larger than the 14 w buy a long way.
My thought is for my 4ft x 4ft ebb/flow tray veg bay 1 40 w led per plant per 1 ft square area each in hydroton pots 4 weeks veg from cuttings then move pots to 4ft x 4ft flowering bay
16 plants per 4ft x 4ft 80,000 lumens
test 1 1ft diameter pot with 1 40w led light in 1 ft quare cab first.A

Was this grown under screw ins!?
Also, for all the screw I s being used have any of you found some out perform others!? The 5000k daylight feit bulbs I am currently using are quite effective but they run warm to hot and I'd like to have equal 3000k-'
5000k throughout the flower area. These give me 1600 lumens each bulb so can I assume with the plastic lid off I'm getting a few more lumens!? 17.5 watt 156 mA. What do u gents say!? Here's week 2 going to to week 3 .....it's a small linen closet. I have three bulbs on two plants canopies, and a fourth bulb in the bottom canopy supplementing until I can squeeze the trigger on a new set up that does them justice. I feel 20-30 watts per sq foot sounds ideal. These feit LEDs I beleieve do put off uv b rays yeah!? I many be wrong but I'd like the cultivars to throw as much suntan lotion on as they are willing to!

It's not hard to give them the extra light just by lowering ur SILs. And my plants r NEVER still in transplant shock a day or 2 later. They're preying for the light just hours after so I find it hard to be the case. I've got 6 smaller plants(1 to 2ft tall) under 80 watts of SILs and the light is hanging roughly 2.5ft above canopy and they're getting too much light. I can see it in ur plant.

Have u noticed some bulbs are CRI and some aren't! Could this have anything to do with the plants color looking off!? These feits I use are 90 CRI -color rendering index

Boats N Hoes #5 got chopped at 14 weeks - a bit late to let the seeds mature. 2 males were used on this one, Obama Kush x Blueberry & Napalm x Violeta (Fire OG x Destroyer x PCK x Malawi). A little less color than I would like from the cross but the size on this plant is ridiculous. Its probably the biggest (production line dense) colas I've seen since switching to my little cabinet setup.

Close observers will note there are some very late flower herms that developed. As I was trimming her up, I noticed that they had viable pollen and quickly rushed to my cabinet to pollinate an Ace Panama x Honduras with them. Boats N Hoes x "My Precious" can't be a bad cross. What can I say, my favorite line in Ace's huge list is Panama x Honduras
