3snowboards if I may suggest, propping each bulb so that each covers an given square area will ease training, as tops will naturally go to the bulb on top of them, instead of all leaning towards the center "line".

Another $2 powerstrip in parallel with current one will do...

Bulb: (x)
Powerstrip: ===
Tent: ------

so what do you guys think about a micro sog under 10 watt LEDs ? Would the LEDs be better suited for a Lst grow?
I`d prefer a Sog because it looks so much easier to get a perpetual going. :)
Thanks

I imagine some of you guys use SILs when rooting your clones. I'd like to hear your take on that. Distance, dome or no dome, and how long it takes on average. Are SILs better when rooting your clones?

Cheers:tiphat:

14 watt 1400 lumen 4 in one socket adapter = 56000 lumens.

each bulb cost 1 dollar x 40 and socket adapter was 3.42 = 34 dollars and the 12 string was 19 bucks from harbor freight tools

95 bucks. 56.000 lumens. 14 x 40 watts 560 watts without the heat of the 600 watt hps.

Just my two cents here, I think that led provide an even distribution of light, so LST and training for a flat even canopy is the way to go.

Plants use a decent amount of energy following the sun as it moves through the sky. When you provide the optimum over head lighting, plants will produce better with LST causing a flat even canopy because the plant isn’t expending energy following the sun.

In a micro cultivation setup ( like the ones in the original posts on this thread) some have even found little training is necessary as the SIL penetrate the canopy very effectively.

using 10w led will veg plants well with say 5 of them for 2 plants. But if you aren’t in a micro situation you may want to invest in some higher wattage led. Say using 10-15 5000k 13w or maybe 16w led would produce better in the veg and then a separate set of bulbs to add to the mix in the 2700k range and still using around 16w per bulb for flower, that would be more optimal IMHO.

At the end of the day when it’s all said and done, the bottom line is LED will produce a wonderful product. Which ever method you choose.

Cheap LEDs aren't worth it. You'll have a ghetto looking setup with inefficient bulbs (more heat, less light) hanging around. Just get Quantum Boards to cover the grow area, less hassle and better lights.

Disagree on every point.

Ill def keep these ghetto lights hanging around right where they are for at least a few more runs and worth every PENNY i spent on em, thanks for your insight

You know how I know you didn't actually read the thread?

very beautiful buds , but I see the bulbs are quite a distance away from the canopy... My grow area is ony 2.2 feet high. With bulbs installed I will only have 1.3 feet of height from pot/soil to the lights... Is a micro SOG doable ?
I know that a few pages back there were some LED, CFL etc distance charts but I can„t seem to find them.
At what distance should the canopy be from 10w LEDs? Sorry, I know this was asked before

Well, in all fairness, he has posted a few more times in this thread. Nothing positive though.
I think he's either a huge quantum board fan
OR
He bought some quantum boards and now he's trying to convince himself that it was the right call

I use 20 watt 2500 lumen bulbs in 5-in-1 adapters for most of my non-drug plants and ran a few micro dope grows with them as well. They do grow nice plants, but dealing with the sockets and wires etc is a lot of work. They're also inefficient compared to PCB type LED lights. Point is, you can post pictures of healthy frosty buds grown with ANY light, even shitty CFLs grow great looking bud. But LED spots are not the best lights around. Oh and I do indeed own quantum boards and will be buying more in the future, there really is no competition.
