odor control?

Ozone generators are harmful to many things in your home from what Ive read. They are also usually used with another control device such as a carbon filter, I dont know anyone who uses them alone. I have no first handknowledge but do some goolgling to find out some info.

Whevere someone asks about odor control I always reccomend the vaportek opimum 4000, best thing I ever bought for myu grow (maybe number two behind my aero cloner ;) It is used industrially to treat things that smell stronger than cannabis such as hospitals, dog kennels, sewers etc.

p.s.
if you decide to go with the vaportek (no pressure lol) give a call to colker janatorial supply 412-391-1955, best price around plus cheap shipping in the US.

Google something called "Ona Gel" or "Ona Spray"

It's supposed to be really good shit, actually eliminates the odors instead of masking them. You can either use it as passive odor control device (poke a few holes in the lid), or as an active odor control device (pass the smelly air through it).

ona gel will really only work for 1-2 plants. I had 4 and it really didnt do anything IMO except dampen the scent. They have a huge unit for about $400 at my hydro store, but its not worth it compared to the vaportek. You wouldnt need a sealed room for a carbon filter, sealed would mean no air movin in or out, ac inside with a co2 generator.

for the small to medium scale groweer (or even larger, Rez uses one) the vaportek cant be beat IMO, plus its small and doesnt take up alot of your space.

I use the vaportek alone with about 8 flowering plants and 20 vegging plants at a time. A scrubber is a nice extra, but unless you have more than 10 flowering plants its not completely nessicary. If I hjad the cash Id hjave both though.

The amount of ozone needed for odor control is dangerous to your health

no it's not. i'm venting outside, it would'nt hurt a mite. lol.
you should never use them in a living space. in a garage or an attic they can work great. after shutting it off most spaces are good in about 15 mins.
i had an issue with the exhaust smell at the outlet and the ozone genertor made the problem go away. but it ain't cheap.

Your right trust, if used properly as an additional measure for odor control an ozone generator can be useful. As a stand alone it is not, if it is the only method you are using, you would need to increase the ozone to dangerous levels according to everything Ive read. Im not an expert, just relaying the experts info.

I have tried everything over the years and I find a carbon scrubber can't be beat with a sealed negative pressure oriented room. It is the best choice for stinky plants in my opinion hands down.

i am the proud owner of 2 carbon filters and i agree that they do a good job but after buying an ozone cleaner i am also quite impressed at their ability to remove odor. the specs for ozone is to have 15' of duct inbetween the outlet and the ozone generator and i'm sure that is nowhere near what most growrooms here can achieve. i have about 10' of duct before the outlet and i have no odor being emitted outside. before the install there was no way i would have had people sit on the back deck. it freekin stunk so bad that when i sat out there alone i actually contemplated droppin a dime on myself.lol.
done rite you can without a doubt use ozone as a stand alone odor neutralizer. all the scare hype is just that. hype. there are no long term pollution effects from ozone. the air is all clear of o3 within a half hour. you cannot use them in a living space or a grow space because your plants and you respitory system would both be trashed. if you have children and pets around you should absolutely install to specs and then double check all lines, making sure vents are not under bedrrom windows and such. then again you should make sure all mechanical and electrical installs are done safely.

A little update on the vaportek - I just got my nerw vaportronic in and it alone seems to be enough for my setup, as I said 8 flowering and about 20 vegging, so if you have less than that, go with the vaportronic. $60 total with shipping and 12 cartridges :yoinks:

BTW, I only have 2 of the cartridges in and it is set on low, you can use up to 5 cartridges and set it on high and I think you could cover up the smell from a skunks ass :D

good luck

yea the vaportronic works well for small growers but those damn disks dry out fast

G

Ive only just put mine in today, so thanks for the info. The disks are pretty cheap so if they last at least 2 months per round I'll be happy. If the problem is them drying out, maybe I will put it near my humidifier and hope for the best.

Thanks, take care and stay safe

Good info guerilla1018.

I just took a look at the website and saw the vaportronic. It looks idea for my closet. Small, and stand alone. Living in a rented house, I have to use the space I've got. That means growing in a closet where I can't make intake and exhaust holes in the walls. This makes growing the smellier strains out of the question right now.
Perhaps the vaportronic will change that in the future. :woohoo:

Yep, the vaportronic with only 2 cartridges (probably could have used one) set on low, has completely tamed everything in my OP. My girlfriend was extremely skeptikal, until she walked up right next to the closet door and still couldnt smell a thing :D

Id say anything less than 20 flowering plants, and the vaportronic will be the best $60 you spend.

Take care
