Hi everyone, wanted to thank the admins for upgrading and enabling me to post pics again;) This thread has been my home for many years, so I'm happy to be able to participate.

Down to business; in the flower tent I've got two clones of a Romulan mother from last round, not my favorite example of the strain, but still very good, exceptional crystal and the last S1 I had, so cloneroo I did. They're at 1 month in alongside my chosen cut of Black Tom (Tom Hill Haze x Black Lime Reserve from baked beanz). I call her Christy Canyons after the film star;) Most examples of that strain have leaned toward the haze with added bulk and flavors from the blr, but mainly haze effects and terps; frankincense and pepper, with only the green ones being full on lemon, much like the panama goddess mother. Christy Canyons is a fat budded, purple/black example with incredible flavors on inhale and exhale. The effect is a bit heavy for me, but I love the taste and bud style, and she's the most obviously desireable according to other smokers who go wild over her. The other plant in the tent is beanz' Lime Madness x BLR2, satty leaning example. I call her Lynda Carter after Wonder Woman of the 70s, because she's pretty fricken incredible. Coming down next week after 16 in the tent.

Here's the tent as it stands - Roms in front, then the Black Toms CC cut, then big ol' Lynda Carter bringing up the rear.

IMG_0037.jpeg

On deck we've got 4 of beanz' headbanger x cakecrasher fems on left, looking for a keeper, 2 Oaxaca x Kali China, the happiest of that bunch, then 2 Ohaze x THH. I'm a huge fan of Kali China crosses if you don't know me, and these will not disappoint. They have just great vigor and attitude.

IMG_0020.jpeg

Alongside those 8 fems, I've got 8 Romulan backcross going in pure coco. The first 4 were popped alongside the bigger batch and died after showing tails. Tad finicky. Pics are from a week ago, but these 8 seem solid.

IMG_0024.jpeg

Christy Canyons BT mother up close, repotted well after stretch from 1/2 gal to 3 gal. Clones will be massive as in 3 gal since before stretch.

I'll have to send her a pic.jpg

And here's the S1 Romulan mother for this clone run, will be swapped out with better one from the b X hopefully. It's unfortunately the only S1 that had intersex issues of the batch I ran. Watching the clones like a hawk, but so far so good.

The Romulan.jpg

And here's a closeup of Lynda Carter, Lime Madness x blr2. Flowered like a haze, starting in week 4 from flip. This is from may 11.

My first grow ith Ace, back in 2016 or so, I said I was looking for some mothers to keep and it's actually taken until this past year to actually dedicate a little space to that end. Love what I got so far;)

When she's done, I'll clone and add the 2 ohaze x thh to the flower tent and clone the oaxacan x kcs, get them ready for repot to be ready for flower in 1 month, when the present roms are done. Looks like the "Romathon" (8 rom bx) will have to happen outside. Happy daze, dwd

Right?! Somebody say Kay Parker, also get my attention right quick;) Beanz selects amazons, for sure, and uses some great hazes and sats in his crosses with the modern stuff. Love the oldschool both in pot and ladies - and these girls deserve names worthy of their output. Thanks;)

Here's everyone yesterday; took Lynda Carter (Lime Madness x extreme satty Black Lime Reserve) mid week 17 just in case she was thinking of pollenating Christy Canyons. Pic from a ladder;)

IMG_0067.jpeg

I put the hazes and headbanging cakecrashers outside and gave the veg tent to the Romulan and Oaxaca x Kali China, also repotted 2 Roms from tiny pots into 1 liter Batch 64 amended coco and topped I think 5/8.

Here're the veggers before the move and Rom topping. Oaxacans front left, HB x Cake Crashers back, the two smallest Roms repotted today, bottom right.

IMG_0073.jpeg

All Da Roms and a couple HB x CC. The bigger ones drink really fast, so arranged a little SIP for them outdoors.

Lovely MadMac's Ohaze x THH

Happy with the progress, can't wait until the Roms finish in a month and I have tent space again. Love deep

Hello MallardDuck, THH is Tom Hill Haze, which I believe is a line of Sam's Original haze that Tom Hill selected and worked to his particular taste. Tom Hill Haze x Black Lime reserve = Black Tom by baked beanz;) I did a loose repro with mothers Christy Canyons cut and Mean Green (sweet lemon haze pheno) and 2 studs; one early (Ron Jeremy) and one hazier. The THH cross with Black Lime Reserve has given 50% sweet, green, limonene dominant haze leaners, 35% or so dark, frankincense fatties, very obvious incense and haze in effect, and then there's Christy Canyons, representing the other 15%, but have no real idea how often she would occur in offspring. She is a fat budded, sweet lime and grape example by taste, black by color, which is pretty common with this selected THH, and she is giggly hazey up with a soft down. Beanz said the haze tends to dominate the crosses to a really high degree. So I feel like Christy is a bit rare;) I'll say she produces much less seed than her Mean Green sister, who puts out madly.
.
90s Seedsman Ohaze x THH are by MadMac, haze madman, selector and breeder. There is no oldtimers' haze in this bunch, though I love it in Panama Haze, Haze x KC and I have it on deck in the purple haze x malawi;) that has tickled my fancy for years.

Haze and other very satty cultivars crossed with really excellent and solid strains like Kali China, Panama, BLR or other maybe Indica dom tend to produce some incredible, grail like results. Linda Carter is Mullimbimby Madness/Thai '78 x Black Lime Reserve extreme satty example; so he's used the MM/Thai as the haze/satty juice to pump up and expand the BLR, which in this case was a sativa outlier BLR. I hit the Romulan with the Black Tom pollen to see some Black Tomulans;) Two polyhybrids crossed like this gives almost exponential range to the traits that'll come up in the offspring. I think.

Almost time to take clones from the Oaxacan x KC, Hazes and HB x CCs.

Thanks, Fronk!

How do you get your pics to show in the post deepwaterdude, I used to be good at it but can't figure it out with the new site?

Let's see. First I upload from my computer, then when writing the post I add them into the text as large, medium or small photos (usually large). May look different on Mac?;)

Hey MallardDuck;) Thanks for the kind words. I'm just starting to get a small understanding of pollen chucking and its effects;)

Always a pleasure to have you among us and enjoy your growing diaries and fine gardening deepwaterdude :huggy:

Happy to hear you have started to keep mothers, it's a really important step, there's nothing like knowing your favorite selected females are safe with you and that you can grow them again and again. :)
Wow! The Romulan S1 looks :hotbounce Hope you also find interesting parental plants from the new Romulan regular BX1 release.
The Lynda Carter looks like a really appealing Haze hybrid selection, glad you are also germinating some pure Haze from MadMac.
You know i have high hopes for the Oaxaca x Kali China hybrid ;)

Have a great weekend friend!

Test Testing

Let's see, when you click on Reply, under bottom left of text area are 2 buttons; Upload attachments and Upload from url. Click upload attachments and then navigate to the photo on your computer and select it. It should take some time to upload, then appear under the text of your message where you can add it to the body your text (whever your cursor happens to be) and select thumbnail, small, medium, large or actual size and the photo will appear there. Then post reply;) That's how I do it.

Hey, Dubi! Isn't it funny that my first post in the Ace forum in 2015 was about looking for mother plants, and here I am only a short 6 years later - And as usual, the pleasure is mostly mine;) Thanks for providing these testers, man!

This particular Romulan S1 is a huge pain in the butt, grows very stringy, like a vine, with small, popcorn like buds, but I gave the rest of my S1 seeds to Buddler and another friend as they gave me the Black Toms and much else. Buddler's got a couple of very distinct Romulan S1 beauties going. My run should be a little better than the seed run with bigger pot, bigger plants at flip and transplant before flower, but seems to be acting the same. The 66% Backcross that made it look very good. Just starting to see little preflowers burgeoning;) First 4 beans did not make it after soaking and showing tails, next 8 did fine in pure coco, but disappointing to lose the first batch. First beans in years that didn't germ. Here they are yesterday with the Oaxacs x KCs, still in tiny pots.

Your Oaxaca crosses I've seen have been beautiful and seem to grow quite uniform with their spire like colas, quickness and good feeling. I and Kali China are just like very old friends always happy to see each other, so I am absolutely sure there will be some interesting results. Your plants usually have a kindness to them, and as usual a definite vigor, both of which I am looking forward to;)

Here are the outdoor after being knocked over every single night by my cats, until I figured out what was going on;)

They got repotted and are just waiting for cloning and final shoes for flower.

Indoors, I screwed up Christy Canyons this time around, probably pollenated as I can't figure out what would make her close down so early while being healthy, and the Roms look slightly better than the seed run. Hope so. Don't seee male flowers, but found them late last time on the mother plant.

Here's Romulan S1, 4 weeks from finish for sure. 2nd pic makes me very hopeful.

Here's Christy Canyons - Black Tom Hill Haze, Black Lime Haze, whatever you might call her;) As Dubi said, it's a good thing I have a really healthy mother for this one. Last run at this point, I do not believe she had a red hair. Now it's like a young dude going grey overnight...

Sorry for the poor pics. Tomorrow 6 weeks for Rom, 7 for CC, both needing another 4 usually. That's the news, hope everyone's well;)

hey, brotha;)

You know the Oaxacs will add something sparkly and nice to the already wide kali china palette, fer sure. Y'know, this particular Rom has tons o crystal but nothing thunderous in high, so dare I say crystal alone does not a great plant make. It's better than good, but not great like some of her S1 sisters, and maybe half of the amazing burning smell Romulus had. I guess I've only really run three S1 females and two were better smoke than this one;) Got preflowers starting on the backcross and they are all stout and healthy.

Both you and I have a bit of the same style, i.e. running one example of many different strains, but i'm starting to see a single strain (some more than others) as a wide starting point to be narrowed down by selection, after which S1s would be the ideal for preservation of a very particular cultivar. So, I'm enjoying popping 4 or more of a strain, identifying what I might like in a set of plants and then producing/selecting that;) Getting hot over your way, eh?

Whoa, been a bit since I updated. Still taking bottom branches off the new batch of Roms, now ready for their final pots.

IMG_0150.jpeg

Then, the Oaxaca x Kali China finally got repotted and are digging in. Good looking plants, one starting to differentiate herself, the larger of the 2. Here they are in front of the Headbanger x Cakecrashers today after a thundershower.

The Romulan and Black tom CC cuts are coming down Monday to make room for the next batch, which will be flowered at night. Heat is too high. These pics are from 5 days back, they're now fading but look pretty damn good. Just small. Here's Rom, BT, then Rom.

Can't wait to see some new flowers and as the Headbanger x Cakecrashers are already showing many pistils, they'll get the tent along with the bigger Oaxaca x Kali China. Smaller will stay outside. Monsoons have started in the SOuthWest, beautiful weather;)

Alright, got the new batch in place, the 4 Headcrashing Cakebangers in front and the 2 Oaxac x Kali China in the back. Day 1 yesterday;)

Man they look good, and everyone is already busting out pistils, so away we go for nighttime flower.

I also repotted the 8 Romulan backcross and they've dug into their new pots already. They are ridiculously stringy at the moment, but they'll get cut back hugely and put outside to sex. They're about 2 feet tall.

Roms repotted, need to take tops.jpeg

Da tent. Dropped the net close to the tops and will add another after stretch, probably. A note to avoid Secret Jardin tents at the moment as they mislabeled this one as DR150 (I'ts HS150) and it came with no openings but the &$#@ing zipper. No socks, no intakes or exhausts, no cable openings, all DIY, and they only provided 2 of each, not even half of what I need to set up. Dumbasses. Then, they didn't offer an apology, refund or replacement tent, so fuck them. Buy Gorilla, as I will for now on and everyone else should. Service is king, a big part of the reason I love Ace.

Have a lovely day, unless you work for Secret Jardin.
