A grower friend has send me some Oaxaca79S1 Seeds he received from Charlie Garcia of Cannabiogen a few years ago. Hope to find a few good girls and cross them with other Oaxacan lines, think Vermontmans Oaxaca79Skull for example could be a good candidate, the flowering time is almost the same on both lines.

I would like to see the Oaxaca '79 #24 crossed to the A5 Haze, that would be something really interesting .

It wasn't easy to germ these, i had 8 Seeds to work with. They seem to be from the same stock Dubi have started with, so they are probably 12 years old, so not the freshest anymore, don't know how they were stored. Most simply not had the vigor to brake through their own shell and needed help. Some not had the vigor to grow their tap root and stopped. But this one here seems wants to live.
I'll do crosses with her and also make S2's and look trough them. Very soon i'll start Vermontmans Oaxaca79Skull and select some males to make the first cross.

I don't know what it is but Oaxican seems almost like a cursed strain in that whenever I see some breeder running a cross with it the line gets dropped, the breeder vanishes etc. Mextiza and Aztec Rain were the last two Oaxican crosses I managed to get a hold of. I bought one pack of each to test the waters since I'm a medical grower restricted to very low numbers and in both cases the breeders either vanished or dropped the strain before I could get more after growing the test run and liking them. In each case I lost my own clones in freak mishaps or outright carelessness. I have half a pack of Mextiza I've been holding onto for the next time I can do some pollen chucking but time flies and they are already getting a bit old.

You shouldn't wait too long to pop your Mextizas, before they're to old. I had a special version of Mextiza a few years ago, found a very fast 7 week pheno, great smell and taste, high was also nice, maybe a bit too racy at the beginning sometimes, but quite nice.
Yes, i'll use Vermontmans Oaxaca79Skull for outcrossing and see if it's working like im hoping for. At first i have to increase Seeds of the CBG Oax79S1 and make a lot of S2's. I don't know if Dubi had a lot of herm problems on the Oax79S1, maybe i've to look through the S2's to find a stress resistant herm free individual, time will tell. Vmans Oax79Skull is a great line which could fit nice to the CBG one, flowering time is more or less the same (~10-12 weeks) with a good yield and old school smell, i really liked it last time i grew her. Im not a breeder, just a grower with a tent who likes to experiment.
What i hate most are too powerfull and strong effects, im always after a friendly happy daytime herb. Heartracing panic attack weed will be sorted out very fast, too edgy also will be sorted out....im smoking to get a better feeling, when i would like to get wasted i would use PCP or Meth. Happily with 31 years i never had the feeling to use hard drugs.

Your advice about growing the Mextiza sooner than later is spot on. Time flies and after looking up the release date on those I was horrified at how many years it's been. I wasn't really planning on doing any pollen chucking this next run, but maybe I'll just grow out the remaining Mextiza seeds and look for a good mother plant or two which I can pollinate later. I would hate to lose the strain to the seeds being left too long.
I'm quite fond of some of the racier and trippier strains since they seem to have a paradoxical effect on me and my favorite Mextizas are the ones that lean a little in that direction.
Just a little update to the Oaxaca79S1 Seedling, not much to show, but seems healthy so far.

I got some bread i was anticipating......i really wanna dive into a deep haze hole or a deep ace hole with heavy sats........im not super keen on heart palps type stones but id love to be able to appreciate these cultivars in my own gardens, oh the agony of waiting comes easier with age ive found

Hello Consolidated, well i'll not flip her to flower, she will be my mother plant. Think next week i'll cut the first clones....have also planted a few of Vermontmans Oaxacan79Skull Seeds which are already above the ground.

It's a very good sign that she is growing healthy, symmetrically and without mutations.
The Oaxacans S1 are certainly not the most vigorous or best yielding,
but there's not a single bad plant in this generation, quality will vary from very good to excellent, hope yours has the quality you are looking for.

I was a bit sad when i saw that most of the Seeds not made it, happily this single one was a survivor. At first there were a few little variegated leaves, but that seems over, all healthy now. The root system is also nice and strong.
I know what you mean with not that vigorous, they seem to be relatively slow in growth progress. Can't wait to cross her with a male of Vmans Oaxacan. Would like to have the smell and taste of the CBG Oaxacan79S1 mixed into Vman Oaxacan, of course with the yield of Vmans Oax.
I have a fresh batch of the Oaxacan12Fingers x Oaxaca cross originally made by elchischas and reproed by someone else. When i find the time i'll make a cross with the CBG Oaxacan79S1. That cross already was made by elchischas some years ago, had a few plants of this, but lost them through a police raid last year. The best plant i had of this was crazy vigorous, a clone of it just needed 3 days from cutting to root through a rw cube, no joke.
It was this plant:
Oaxaca79 x (Oaxaca12Finger x Oaxaca) The branching was perfect in my eyes, close and strong.

So it was time for a new Pot(bucket), i switched from a 6.5L pot to a 24L bucket. The Seedling has breached the surface on March 14th, not bad for that time.

Here is the brand new Oaxaca x Kali China Hybrid!
Had some issues in veg, she grew very short with almost no internode distance.
And one branch, of the 4 remaining of topping, would just grow slower than the other and is now half the size but no worries.
Could it be that it dont like 18/6 light cycle in veg? Maybe 16/8 would be better.
Or maybe some minor mutations like I had in PCK x Panama.
But after flowering she bounced right back and this is her at day 28 now.
Super narrow leafs and very delicate looking, very excited!
