I love all the historical placements that Forest finds himself in. School Intergration in the South, Bear Bryant coach @ Alabama, The Have a Nice Day Smiley Face ... and So on.

Absolutely my fav.

Mo,

Anyone else here also think "Cast Away" was amazing?

I saw that movie on HBO, and had no idea what it was about before it started.

I saw the plain crash, and waited for him to get rescued, and he never did for like years, very amazing story line, and very unconventional, all most like a silent film.

I was highly impressed.

What a great flick man...you cant watch it and not be happy, its like eating icecream!!!

I remember watchin it at the movies when it came out with a buddy. We got all baked behind a dumpster behind the theater beforehand. It was so great cause you just dont expect all the things to happen that do...

The best is when Forrest kick the crap outta people....lol

a classic movie

Forrest: "She told me about all the traveling she'd done and how she discovered ways to expand her mind and leard how to live in harmony, which must be out west somewhere, cause she made it all the way to California."

Young Forrest: "What's vacation mean?"
Mrs. Gump: "Vacation?"
Young Forrest: "Where Daddy went?"
Mrs. Gump: "Vacation's when you go somewhere... and you don't ever come back."
:biglaugh:

My favorite part of Forrest Gump was Abbie Hoffman, the famous 60's radical drug culture icon:

"This guy's name is... Gump? Yeah Forrest Gump. He just got back from the service, and he is gonna tell us about the FUCKING WAR IN FUCKING VIET-FUCKING-NAM!"

"He sure did like to say the F word a lot." -Gump

That would mean that God leaves him at the end of the movie then? God is mentioned throughout but I think that's sort of a way to show how everyone else is hung up on something artificial, whereas Gump, despite his low intelligence, has it basically 'figured out'. There is the part on the shrimping boat when the huge storm rolls in...."Just then...'God' showed up". I'm not sure if that is supposed to confirm that God is indeed intervening to help him, or if its just supposed to be funny...

Perhaps its an interpretive thing.....if you attribute his success in life to God then I think you're taking away from the individual, which is where I think the lesson of the movie lies...Gump never abandons his beliefs. In all the experiences he goes through, he is never changed by any of it.
