Nutrients and Additives (UK)

i was told h & g stopped selling in uk ,,and to watch out for fake nutes :tiphat:

hi mate.

Thanks for details, and warning.

I ordered from one place, and they said they were expecting a delivery in the first two weeks of december.
I'll give em this week then if no news, ill cancel the order.

Anyway to spot the fakes?
I have noticed some batches of Soil a+b have slightly different labels, but i thought that may just be new branding etc.

Good news on the biogreen front.
Ive had a decent enough grow with the stuff. I didnt even use all of their range, and the ladies seem to have performed ok.
Guess the next part is the most important though. taste and high.

thanks again for the warning on H&G tho. Appreciated :tiphat:

I've just changed from headmasta and pk13/14 to big bud and overdrive and I've got to say the difference is very noticable .
Headmasta seems to have been getting worse over the last couple of years imo , evens smells different .
I tried the bigbud / overdrive on a killer queen i was training and it was a similar size ( if not a bit smaller ) than the last one I did and I'm expecting st least 30% more yeild plus the plant has grown better in general .
Just goes to show sometimes it's worth a change :)

House and garden has appeared at my local shop now, different EU labels but otherwise look the same and are now apparently readily available again

hi m8.

Hope you having a great day, and 2016 is going well.

Yeah, turned out suprisingly good tbh.
Didnt use all nutes, but they seemed to have done the trick.
Never checked ec, ph, just poured and crossed my fingers lol.

This is them in beginning of flower,

then towards end.

I tried it on 4 different ladies/strains in a single 1m x 1m tent.
light was a 600W hps.

everything grew just fine. Ididnt see any major deficiencies, and the flowers tastes just fine. If anything, id say the h&g grown stuff tasted slightly sweeter and stronger, but saying that, it could be down to environmental factors etc. Plus, as i said, i didnt even use the whole range. just used a couple of the products. i would deffo use em again if i need to. Saying that, i may not planning on using em again soon tho. Got my restock of h&g back, so hopefully wont need any nutes till summer time ..

I grow in soil. I kept the feeds pretty light. The sample box came with a leaflet which has feed guides on it for various mediums.
I would say i fed anywhere between half strength up to full strength towards the end. Flushed em for 20 days.

hope that helps mate.
if you use em, let us know how you get on with em.

Well think I may give the regulator, top booster and p and k boosts a whirl.. But perhaps not on this run as I have battled broads so may stick with what I know so I know what to blame if shit goes south.

Just a bit of info on the industry that supplies our nutrients

Plant Magic has been sold, all a bit of disaster for the guy who started it, the first thing the new owner did was install a big bottling machine, hopefully the nutes will stay the same

House and Garden has been sold from its Dutch base after unsuccessfully taking on the courts about where they made their products, they've set up a new production line in Spain, I've just got my first bottle of the new batch of Spanish Excelurator, it seems the same, we'll see

Just a heads up about A N,s big bud coco, opened it up to see it was like wet clay and a layer of oil sat in the top inch of the bottle, gave a vigorous shake and still went back to that state within an hour, sent it back and got £200 credit note so not all bad. fook A N nutes

i read a good document about organics the other day ,
http://www.manicbotanix.com/hydroponic-grow-guide/hydroponics-v-organics.html,

apparently organic nutes have to turn inorganic for the plant to use them ,,funny old world innit

Organic nutes before they pass through the microherd in soil are too large to "fit into" plants roots, they have to be eaten/shat/eaten/shat repeatedly till they finally are broken down into the simpler inorganic compounds that can pass into the plant

Chemically it means, again, in simple terms, that large compound structures are broken down into physically smaller, less complex ones that can be absorbed by roots.

The Chemistry of soils is far more complex, but the short version is that plants cannot eat organic nutrients, they can only take up inorganic nutrients... such as those sold as "Canna Coco A&B" or "GHE Flora series" ... So, growing in soil is basically a waste of time, it brings no benifit, you cannot feed it or flush it as well as Hydro or Coco and have constant trouble keeping it not too wet or dry.

Has anybody used or heard of this company http://plant-nutrients.co.uk ?
I've been thinking about moving to coco for a few runs before I have to sell my house and these will tailor the nutrients to your exact water supply or to your regional water supply, they also sell PK, root stim and a few other things.
Its a bit expensive but it would probably take a few grows and some tinkering before I'd get it right with my water and shop bought nutes.
I thought this could take the guess work out of it and make the transition to coco easier and to keep it simple for me .
Whats everyone think would it be worth spending the extra £££'s on this or go with canna, H&G or one of the other hydro shop types ?
Much respect

Raspaul coco is as simple as you want it to be, all you really need is a pH & ec meter

Hey oldbean that's why I looked at this company because they don't have hundreds of different bottles and it would be good knowing it was designed to my exact water and what it needs.
I know a few local growers that have issues with our tap water growing in coco so this should make life way easier for me.
Just seeing if anyone has used it and if its any good.

Much respect
