Northern Dudes Quest for Excellence "06"

Hello to all my OG friends and to all growers here on IC,
Just a quick bit of info for those who don't know me...I'm up here in Ontario, I grow outdoor among the pines and around ponds..I love to grow different strains and I hate rippers with a passion..I'm here if anyone has any kind of growing problem, remember that all questions are good questions...if I don't have the answer someone here will...So this year I have almost 20 different strains going..thoughout this thread you will get to see them all in their various stages...I am going to sex them, clone them, plant them around ponds, fert them, protect them and hopefully get a good harvest..basically what we are all going to do this year... So light up that joint :smoker: hit the pipe :bongsmi: grab some popcorn :lurk: sit back and enjoy...stay safe..

ND, have you been digging around in the gut buckets again?

Don't let those catch and release guys see your ferts...

Let me know when the MTxUC beans pop....I wasn't sure if they were dry enough.

This is going to be the best OD season yet.

best wishes

Hi ND wow they have grown fast in the last week. See you got some more beans sprouting hopefully they all sprout for you. I was looking at the pic were you are germing your seeds and it looks like you saturate your paper towels pretty good does this help? I ask because I have always just dampened my paper towels and maybee I could get better germination rates.

River you closer to my neck of the woods. ND and stoner only get about 30 day growing seasons that far north, and then they have to grow in solid rock. :yoinks:

River the first thing you need is a bucket of loon guano....the hard part is getting them to sit still on the bucket long enough.

Hey to all that dropped in and thanks...kinda funny thinking if this was a hundred years ago we'd almost be doing the same thing but with crops that would feed our families for the year ahead.. some mornings when I'm sitting in the kitchen having a coffee thinking about my grow I think about my grandfather, who had a big vegetable farm and wonder what went through his head...sorry I'm rambling..just had a nice Derailed Blues doobie...man thats nice stuff
Hey Guyute54...after that pic was taken I drained some of the water off...I like to give the beans lots to start out and when they split and I can see the taproot, I drain it abit...it's still moist but I want that root to come out looking for water..seems to work for me..I also water my plants when they are inside with cold water..reason being that when the little ladys hit the soil in the spring the rain showers are still cold...if I gave them room temp water now..the cold spring rain would shock them..
River my friend..I get more than 30 days..the Cap't having some fun...I get 32 days...LOL..plants react differently of course in different areas..I'm around the 45th parallel so if you're in that area Stoner or myself can help..below that the Cap't and Backcountry have lots of info..we all work together

Anyways I've started sexing a few of the bigger ones..I have 6 hitting 24hrs of darkness and then 12/12...I use coolers...I can get plenty inside each cooler and they have room to takeoff..in 10-14 days I'll find out if they live or die...So I'll get a few pics up tomorrow after ice-fishing..stay safe..

Closer to the truth then you know buddy. ;)

Way back in school, I learned about the Canadian Shield, the ancient rock bed that forms the foundation of the continent. First time I actually saw it, 'dude was my guide.

Solid rock, glaciers scrape off every bit of accumulated top soil with each cycle. What little has accumulated is barely up to the job of supporting trees and does nothing for drainage. Water just doesnt sink in, so the land is blessed with lakes and wetlands.

In the West, the only difference is the angle of the rocks, here it's near vertical. Makes for great drainage. ;)

I spend my vacations in the Canadian Shield, the washboard roads remind me of Chicago's city streets, so I feel at home.

River's not far from me and is lucky to have some of the remnants those glaciers left behind. The dairy belt has some very rich soil, and a grow window somewhere around 180 days.

She'lll have no problems finding a few good strains that will finish properly outdoors.

Speaking of Derailed Blues, they were put between the towels a few minutes ago, I hope I can keep up with ND and stoner.

Enjoy
