Lunch Break. Got 9 (Nl5xHaze)xPineapple aka Pineapple Cough in. So far no sign of shock. They were very thirsty when we put em in, so they took a nice big drink of the Aussie Tonic I chose for transplant. They perked right up and spread their wings the second they hit the dirt. Somehow, I thought I had 12 of these. There was a minute when I did not know I was going to be doing a whole other show this year and I was giving away BIG plants to loved ones... but I thought those were all dreams.... Anyhow... I now have to come up with some substitutions in my big plant lineup.

Back to work.

I am hoping that the task is done and the light still good for a photo update this evening.

Boring ass thread, no more! While Its been fun waiting for the shitty weather to stop and carrying on my public love affair with planty (NOT a provocation- good natured joshing)... I think its time we all get the fuck down to business. Got one Black Box and The entire A garden planted. Could have pushed through and planted the B garden... but we're old men, and energy drinks just make us edgy... Tomorrow is another day.

This is not the tallest Blue Dream in the garden, but its probably the most nicely shaped. Many of the Dreams could already be trained out to trellising at the outer perimeter of the 200's. Let's compare it to my garden last year...

This photo was taken on June 29th, a full three weeks deeper into into the season. More than a month of veg!!! Muwahahahaha.

(NL5xHaze)xPineapple aka Pineapple Cough. She makes up almost half of the A garden. I thought there were 12 of them. 3 have mysteriously disappeared...or I imagined them in the first place. Very high hopes for this strain... while the plant is not as big as the Blue Dream, she is stout and has fat branches... the overall plant mass seems almost as much as the much taller Dreams.

2010_0605-082.jpg

And speaking of MASS... the Bubbz is really the most vigorous Bubba I have ever seen... (of course, I have not watched the Bomb Threat grow...) She also does not have the same branching angle as the pre-98 I grew last year... much wider and easier to train... I think she is going to really perform...I cannot wait to see what she does out of her 10 and in the 200. Its going to be a sight to see.

Black Box 1. Code Name: East Coast. 4x800 gallon smartbeds. Lots of Sour D, OGK, Master Kush, NL5HP, A Bubbz and a lone small Deep Purple, just for headsmoke. Going to start training and filling it in. Hopefully start pulling tarp in about 10 days.

Black Box 2. Code Name: West Coast. 12x65 gallon smartpots and another 2x800 beds. Going to be a lot of smaller plants coming out of 2 gallons. More Sour D, Shrek/Ogre, Bubbz, Master, ChemD and a couple of different OG's. In the big pots will be an assortment of larger plants I have... Some tester strains... Pineapple Romulan, J:UNO (fake J1, maybe a cross?)... probably forgetting something in there. I also have a soil test going in here. One bed is filled with Greenfields and the other with Sonoma Compost. Pots are split between FFOF and Greenfields.

To the left, tomorrow's plugs for the B garden. To the right, some Clueberry and NL5HP that is being rehabilitated for another project.

Ah yes... one final bit of joy for the day. I got a msg from Good Karma that somebody had AfPak clones at the market today. Thanks S. for remembering that I was sad I lost the strain and calling me up as soon as it came through. I love you guys. Thank you. Glad to have the cut back... hope its the same thing I know as AfPak... really a dank strain... its a lot like Bubba but with a sour funk at the end, grows like Master and yields like mad for her size. Finishes fast, too. First plant down last year. Had a small PM issue, but only because it was in the least sunny spot in the entire garden. In full sun it would do just fine. Definitely on my list of all-time favorite Kushes.

That's not me in the pic. That's ubersherpa. This year I am working with one of my closest and dearest friends... I was expecting a smart guy who I could trust 150% and who i could work with, regardless of how crazy a moment here or there can become.... and what I got was a tireless worker who eats, shits and sleeps this garden.I am amazed. So blessed to have him this year. Gimme two more like him who won't kill each other sharing a campsite and I'm set for 2010.

nomaad, thank you for your thoughts and know our crew up here is wishing you a great season.

im gonna take some time tonight to upload some pictures and start my summer shindig thread. i think my worry of a nice first garden has me second guessing some of my basic instincts......i guess, nothing but to do it and let the cards fall where they may. were in completely as of today too. your dreams in the 200,s look very nice on the yr to yr comparison. also i think the extra love this yr will reward your efforts. thank you again.

Thanks, everybody... Glad to finally be busy with the fun part.

hogan: I hear ya... I would say that because of higher expectations of myself the second time around, I am feeling just as unsure of things as I was last year. Just different things. Congrats on getting your plants in. Good luck with it.

Couple more photos. I am really hoping for a wine-bottle thick stem this year. just one.

NL5HP... see what I mean about plant mass. Holds up to the much taller Blue Dream below.

Poor guy is restricted from most of the house these days. He got hit by a car and is still draining fluid thru an open tube from his abdomen. We are blessed that his injuries amounted to only cuts, scrapes and massive bruising. But he's still purty.

So... upon putting my feet up for the night, I realized that I had forgotten one important element... supplemental lighting. duh.

Managed to get it all in place, but it was a pain in the ass. I coulda sworn these sockets were supposed to work with 14 gauge wire... but the wire was too thin and the screwing down of the cap did not force the wee spike through the wire's sheathing. So... we had to melt the wire where we wanted the sockets and scrape off the sheathing for each one. it was a bit of a pain in the keester. but all is well. at 4:00am, there will be light.
