Yankee Grower I know the persons farm you're talking about once you said the angled panda film walls...Smoked a couple doobs with ~GT~ last month actually...Where is that NL5/Haze at...Would Yankee Grower also happen to have once had a handle called Mountain?
No way...LOL! I enjoyed the time I spent with GT and for sure one of my main mentors.

Yeah I'm Mountain.

Not to butt into your guys' tender reminiscence or anything, but would that NL5/Haze be the same as the seed the Cough comes from?

Yes for sure, the NL5/Haze that we are talking about was found by a friend from old school sensi seed stock. I haven't been able to find the NL clone x Haze seeds in any old catalogs but I haven't looked too hard...I do know that NL 5 was some work done with the original NL ......and that sensi seeds did sell NL5/Haze seeds for a long time. ..and that my buddy GT did 20 pounders in a heated and lit green house. He was tellin me the harvest was coming in mid Jan though..

Dunno, planty. The two week outlook is starting to clear and warm up. Not sure what to think. I have all the full season plants happy in 10 gallon smarties... they could stay happy for another week in the dome.

My main concern right now is unhappiness of the plants meant for the black boxes. They are very unhappy with the 30 degree nighttime temps. Even the strains that have never dropped on me are showing some stress. I am trying to decide whether or not to transplant them in their current state and risk more shock...or nurse them back before transplant. Whatever is going to result in the fastest recovery time...

wow. that's some shit... january harvest... shows some dedication. i am going to run that Cough in a sea of green in the dome. Gonna start it in late July or early august (might start to force them inside) and supplement with HPS after the sun gets bad in mid Oct.

I have some friends growing some for me inside... we're about six weeks in. seven to go. hoping this means a late november finish at the latest.

For the record not 20 pounders plural but a single 20 lb or so plant or maybe I'm working off of some old information. Yeah he told me about that plant and everything else GT ever told me proved out so no reason to disbelieve. I saw and smoked GT's 12+ lb NL 5 x Haze. The day I met him walked into his greenhouse and just stood there for a few minutes looking at that thing...lol. The location where the 20 lb'er was grown was up the street and powered by a mini hydro electric setup. Supposedly some pics of that plant exist...or at least existed...cause of the LEO problems the next year don't know if those pics got wiped but GT said they'd get posted some day.

I dunno about the January harvest thing cause the NL 5 x Haze GT took down came down about December 7 and was a week late. I had samples of that plant taken about December 1 and he and I agreed was better :). Maybe things were a bit different with all that supplemental lighting but also heavy sativas provide multiple harvest windows and you should not pick when it's flushing new pistils. The main harvest GT took down was a bit rough and too 'heavy' for what it should have been.

That cut was spread around enough and someone should still have it?

dunno if I have that cut...but I have A cut of nl5xHaze from the SSSC known as the Cough. And the cut goes way back.

I can easily tell you if the same thing :). I ran another pheno of NL 5 x Haze that came out of OR and for sure much faster than GT's cut but still very nice. Oh man that old Sensi stock produced some great ones.

Hey! just got my hands on a Cough cutting! Im pretty sure its the same, the guys who hooked me up said the flowering time was extremely long... didnt you say it was a long flower period Maad?

yankee,

you said strong sativas have multiple windows of harvest? meaning taking down the tops and letting the lowers mature, or like it will show amber trichs and look ready but can then toss out white hairs and keep going? i just experienced the latter and used to pull the plant at 9 weeks but took it to 11 this time thinking whats goin on?

Well any way, GT is a very good grower and a good person and him and his buddy are two of the only people that I will light up with even if I have shit to do that day... ( I rarely puff..if I use hella then it doesn't work medically for me.. ) ...

Yes nomaad, that is Merry Christmas in Hawaiian ...... I want to be out in Kauai looking for property by Christmas time...

It's real cool to be doing a piece you're sentimentally attached to. I feel like it makes the herb that much more enjoyable when you waited and waited to come up on the genetics then you get em, tend to em with maximum care and get to puff that harvest...no better treat really other than maybe bringing a healthy youth in to the world..but to me really those are basically the same thing. Good luck with your cough project...don't forget though, it's just for smoke!!

On the black box tip, plants that are about to go in to bloom should be tearing...the healthier they start the healthier they'll stay. Do you have the option of trashin' all of em and starting over? That's what I would do...You said you got some raised beds for your light dep, well indoor the one time I ran blue dream in one of my 4x4 beds I pulled close to 3 pounds off 1 light (2.7) by putting 16 blue dreams from clone, in to 3.5" square vegging for 5 days putting them in the beds vegging for 5 days and then flowering...Maybe you could do something similar and not be too far behind on your schedule ??

Also another idea is to bring your black box plants inside heat them up and put them under strong blue light and give them a shit ton of good fish and kelp and fungus dominant compost tea...that turns them around fast in my experience

its likely that my cut is the one that came out of OR... it comes down in 11-13 weeks "grower's choice" from what I was told... but those who let it go 13 are rewarded. 12 weeks is the minimum run by pros.

YG: next time we meet up, you should come have a look and tell me what you think.

planty: bringing my kids into the world and nurturing and teaching them for the last 6+ years has been several orders of magnitude more rewarding than anything I have ever done (even when they hide my keys and phone, YG)... building a house with my own hands for the family is up there too, but still pales in comparison... Growing fine herb is fun and challenging but I could give it up in a heartbeat under the right circumstances. I try to have no attachments to such things. I am fluid. Except when it comes to my kids... For them I am rock solid. Zen principles be damned.

As for the black box... i hear you loud and clear... would like everything in there to be tearing on transplant. I won;t be running any blue dream in the black boxes... its all OG, Sour D, Bubba, etc. I do have a whole backup crop indoors, but they are much smaller and there is almost no OG... Gonna consider strategies today. I still have 3 weeks to get shit right before I absolutely have to pull tarp... All will be well. I left myself enough options.

Layedback: The Cough or strawberry cough?

are you gonna taper off your supp lights as the 21st gets closer or keep it running from 330 am to day break and just kill the lights then?
