No pest strips seems to be safe as long as you're not sniffing the thing. It has warnings to not use it in closed areas with newborn babies and elderly. I say use it until the problem is gone and ziplock it up, when mites return so does the NPS
purrpullkush you sound a lot like I do,did you try predators too?I guess a lot of folks will be like us and spend literally hundreds before they realize a 5 dollar pest strip is the way to go.As to the scientific reason why predators dont work during 12/12,I think its because they dont have enough light to become active but I do know from both experience and literature that during flowering you can forget about using predator mites.
Predators will work in 12/12, they don't respond to light cycles. They respond to humidity and temperature. You must raise your humidity a little bit to get them established, otherwise they are useless (whether your light cycle is 12/12 or 24/0). And the NPS I've seen say not to use them near 'food crops'. Personally, I think if they don't want you to eat it, you probably shouldn't smoke it.
I actually feel a lot better using an NPS than I did blowing off those pyrethrum bombs, they would only kill most of them anyway.I have yet to see a living mite after 72 hours of hanging a strip, and thats for severe cases usually 90% are dead after 24 hours with the rest kicking the bucket after 24.What I do is hang for 48 hours.remove it for a couple days, and rehang for 24 hours to catch stragglers and hatchlings.Thats a total of 72 hours for total annihilation(I love that word when it comes to those bastards lol)
I'm not saying they don't work. I don't think anyone's disputed that, I am just saying that the label WARNS "do not use on or near food crops." That should say something about the safety of these products. If you guys can't see what I am saying here, maybe the learning disability thing is true!
To bad these discussions always seem to break down to personal attacks,I'm sure you're a whole lot brighter than I'll ever be bro.I'll just have to strive to be the best learning disabled dichlorvous user that I can be..EDIT In the mean time though I will let those who care to listen know what WORKS,not what is best for your health and well-being lol
Maybe to see what the thread is about?? Maybe because the thread starter asked if there were health risks? Yes, threads do get 'off topic', but that doesn't mean that the guy doesn't want answers to the questions he asked, quite the contrary. Why the genius thing? Maybe you can figure that one out on your own, maybe not.
what truth is that that poison is poison i already new that and aparently more about the thread than you and you want to hate on real growers for there .02 fuck you...
And uh, on another subject....if you want to be a hippy and use only organic non-chemical solutions for your grow, more power to you. But it doesn't make sense to discourage people from using certain products because of your own taste for the "all natural" lifestyle. The link that mastermagic posted seems pretty legit and it clearly says that the active ingredient in NPS does not go into the plant tissue. That means its safe for veg. Not necessarily safe for flower, but not necessarily unsafe for flower either. SM90 is never gonna stop a mite infestation and most of the other "natural" remedies are equally ineffective. Untill I hear different I am recommending these things. Now go wash yourself you dirty hippy.
