no pest srips in grow rooms

I've had lots of success with the no pest strips.. Im sure they can be harmful for us, but so can so many things in our daily lives. There is no point in picking our poisons and arguing about them. If we are trying to kill these dreaded mites, we have to use poison of some sort. The pest strips are definetly the most economical. Just another risk in the huge list of risks involved with growing Cannabis :)

i find that the no pest strip doesnt work in a bigger room with a lot of ventilation. (sucking air out)

Where do you guys get these strips? I used to find them at Home Depot, but they don't seem to have them anymore.

Walmart has them, you can either get hot shot or spectracide no pest strips.Lugen I dont know about a nasty sponge in my humidifier, but I know I wouldnt use one during the flowering phase anyway, its just for veg and just when RH drops below 60%.I have a dehumidifer in the flower room bro

of course wal mart has them! they dont care about people!

neem is not toxic, i even brush my teeth with neem toothpaste. in india the neem tree is called the villiage apothocary becuase it cures and prevents so many health issues.

If we are trying to kill these dreaded mites, we have to use poison of some sort.

thats is so UNTRUE. for one thing, neem is not poisonous, predator mites are not poison, lower temps is not poison, insecticidal soap is not poison

Im sure they can be harmful for us, but so can so many things in our daily lives.

which is why it is our responsibility for us to reduce the poison manufactured for us and consumed by us

A little more info.....

A little more info.....

http://216.109.125.130/search/cache...&w=neem+"ld+50"&d=OZF2PiQ8NSts&icp=1&.intl=us

"In EPA testing, establishment of an LD-50 proved impossible as azadirachtin, one of numerous organic compounds present in neem oil, was asymptomatic at all levels tested. Accordingly, there are no reentry or residual restrictions associated with the use of neem oil"

On the other hand DDVP (aka dichlorvos).....
http://www.chem-tox.com/brevard/main.htm

"While there were no changes seen in test animals exposed to the pesticide when compared to animals not exposed to the pesticide (controls) regarding body weights and survival rates, there were other serious health effects observed. The researchers did find significantly higher cancer rates affecting the pancreas - forestomach - as well as mononuclear cell leukemia in male rats... In the male rats the increase in incidence was dose-related and statistically significant. Incidences of multiple fibroademonmas were seen in 9 exposed female rats whereas none were observed in the controls....Dichlorvos caused or was associated with neoplastic responses in rats (pancreas, hematopoietic system, and possibly the mammary gland) and in mice (forestomach)."

"Here, the scientists found that trichlorfon and dichlorvos caused damage to liver cells from rats treated for 90 minutes with more than 1mM of the chemicals."

"Russian scientists studied the growth rates of Bream (a fish common in Florida) after exposure to the dibrom/naled contaminant known as "dichlorvos." The first major effect detected was a significant reduction in the growth rates of the fish.... Further research is now warranted, but researchers believe it may be due to the subtle neurotoxic actions of the pesticide and its effects upon the areas of the brain involved in feeding or food search mechanisms."

"Seven children with bone marrow disorders have been observed over the past 8 years by physicians at Travis Air Force Base Medical Center in California. The physicians believe the blood disorders, in all cases, were caused by organophosphate pesticides.. All blood disorders occurred shortly after exposure to the pesticides DDVP/propoxur and malathion. The duration of inhaling insecticides ranged from 2 minutes in a patient enveloped in a thick insecticide fog in a small shed to 2 days in other patients whose homes were fumigated by their parents. Six patients had aplastic anemia and one had acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The physicians also cited research showing leukemia in farmers has significantly increased during the period of 1964 to 1976 (Mayo Clinic Proc, 53:714-18, 1978). Apple growers exposed to organophosphates had a higher incidence of leukopenia (very low white blood count) than a control population"

:fsu:

All of this from ONE site! I didn't copy the part about the male infertility, the learning disorders and neural damage. Read it for yourself! There are hundreds of sites like this. So you fools keep using no pest strips. But ask yourself....Will you get cancer? Will your liver be damaged? Will your kids have learning disabilities? All because you used an "easy" way to kill some bugs? I think I'll stick to neem!

I dont understand all this back and forth,I dont have any problem with people who want to use neem oil I say go for it.Use predators too believe me I've used it all and know what works best for me and its not stinky ass neem, not for me.

Quick question - Are we talking No Pest Strips from Home Depot versus Hydro store pest strips that say "Non Poisonous"

I'm confused, because the ones I got say they are non toxic, I wonder if they are non-functional too....

If neem oil is sprayed on plants, can you still put predators out? and can you still spray neem after you put predators out?

He's asking because he wants to know, no need to be sarcastic man...
We're all here to be respectfull and learn, this is ICMAG.
I'd also like to know if neem attacks eggs and is toxic to all insects or is it more like a repellent to plant eating insects? "Bug poison" is not very descriptive of how this pesticide works..and it's range...

Predators are absolutely 100% useless under a 12/12 cycle

Now this sounds very interesting. Please explain

I'd just like to chime in here that I gave the "Hot Shot No Pest Strips" a shot when I came into my room about two weeks ago and found literally thousands of borgs all over the place. Well, vacuumed up the ones I could and put two pest strips in the room and put the ventilation on timers with only a small fan blowing across the pest strips. Havent been able to find a single mite since. I've been through soooooo many battles with the borg using neem, pyrethrum spray, pyrethrum bombs, horticultural oil, avermectin, and many other things...These things work.... And personally I'd rather expose my plants to this stuff for a short time in veg than expose them to the stuff that doesnt work as well for long periods of time. I'd like someone with a scientific background to tell us about whether or not this stuff would move into the flowers if only used in veg.

neem or sm-90 are completely organic and are biodegradable.
In a severe case i would go with the sm-90 since it is a thin solution that kills mites. You can put some mix solution in the cool mist humidifier and just fog them suckers out the safe way.
