YES this is VERY recent.......It might be icmag right as the site holder.....
BUT what about my right s as ahuman being to change my mind.......

That's what the edit button is for. But once your post is part of a thread and ppl have responded to you (often quoting you - which can never be removed by you) you no longer have a right to disrupt the flow of conversation. That's being selfish and disrespectful unless you have a good reason, and that's what the mods are here for.

I don't get it, that delete button was their ever since I joined up almost 3 years ago, no one ever saw it as selfish or disrespectful to delete their own post. In fact, you're the first person I ever heard say that.
And really, that's the response we get?
No one was notified of the change, which I don't understand.
I don't know, this site seems like it's becoming more and more unfriendly to it's Users and Supporters and Donors...

Something just doesn't seem right about not being able to delete posts. I've never had to ask somebody before I can remove something I've written on a forum before.

What is the point of leaving a blank post visible as opposed to just deleting it entirely?

Yeah, you're right.
I don't know, I guess I just felt more comfortable knowing I can take back what I said at the hit of a button. Not too often I have an option like that in life...

Makes it easier to tell why a thread makes no sense. Explains why people are quoting non existent posts.

If you're not willing to let it stand, don't say it to begin with.

Yes, for mods to understand what has taken place in a thread, they need to have a record of all the posts. If posts are permanently deleted, we lose that record, making it more difficult to do our jobs, and to respond to issues that may have arisen as a result of a deleted post.

If you edit a post, we at least know that it was edited and when and by whom.

Never expect that when you post something in public that you can remove every trace of it. Think b4 you post.

The only things that should get permanently deleted is spam that has no place on this site anyway.

Also I'm trying to enforce Gypsy's copyrights to content posted on icmag. He has a right to publish all posts, and it's at his option (and mods & admins acting as his agents) whether to remove content.

He is allowing edits and mods can remove anything that needs removing upon request. So there really shouldn't be a problem for anyone.
