some cool new stuff today..

Researchers in China have spotted a supermassive black hole, which they say is 12 billion times the size of the sun and formed around 900 million years after the Big Bang.

The black hole is larger than any of its age previously seen, the journal Nature reports.

A black hole is a dense region of space that has collapsed in on itself in a way that means nothing can escape it, not even light.

Releasing their findings in Nature, researchers led by teams from China's Peking University and the University of Arizona said the black hole -- named SDSS J010013.02 -- was six times larger than its biggest known contemporaries.

"The existence of such black holes when the Universe was less than one billion years old presents substantial challenges to theories of the formation and growth of black holes and the co-evolution of black holes and galaxies," they said.

Nature reported that lead researcher Xue-Bing Wu of Peking University and his colleagues first sighted the black hole using a telescope in Yunnan, China, and used additional telescopes around the world to examine it.

In a media release, the University of Arizona said that the black hole powered "the brightest quasar of the early universe." NASA describes quasars as "the brilliant beacons of light that are powered by black holes feasting on captured material, and in the process, heating some of the matter to millions of degrees."

Team member Fuyun Bian, from the Australian National University, said that the light from a quasar was thought to push back material behind it and limit the growth of black holes.

"However this black hole at the center of the quasar gained enormous mass in a short period of time," Bian said.

Another researcher, Chris Willott, told Nature that a possible explanation could be that some black holes were formed by the collapse of a very large gas cloud -- rather than that of a single star.

"We are still very uncertain as to the modes of black-hole formation and growth in the early Universe," he told the journal.

Writing in Nature, astronomer Bram Venemans explains: "Theoretically, it is not implausible to find a black hole of more than 10 billion solar masses within 1 billion years after the Big Bang. But it is still surprising to uncover such a massive black hole in the early Universe."

"This quasar is very unique," the University of Arizona quoted lead researcher Wu as saying. "Just like the brightest lighthouse in the distant universe, its glowing light will help us to probe more about the early Universe."

Scientists say they have discovered a black hole so big that it challenges the theory about how they grow.
Scientists said this black hole was formed about 900 million years after the Big Bang.
But with measurements indicating it is 12 billion times the size of the Sun, the black hole challenges a widely accepted hypothesis of growth rates.
"Based on previous research, this is the largest black hole found for that period of time," Dr Fuyan Bian, Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics, Australian National University (ANU), told Reuters.
"Current theory is for a limit to how fast a black hole can grow, but this black hole is too large for that theory."

Like ive already said, if you don't have the faith to believe what's in the Bible, there is still evidence of God all around us. You can see how that protein is not only shaped as the cross, but as the actual body of Jesus as he hung on that cross... For you...

OMG!
What crap!
You are seriously ill.

also today:

A team of prominent researchers has discovered what appears to be the start of two massive black holes at the centers of their own galaxies beginning to collide.

Such an event should come as no surprise, considering that there are up to 200 billion galaxies in the universe (according to Space.com), so two of them are bound to bump into each other from time to time. In fact, astronomers have already observed the merging of galaxies (as seen in the image above), but they've never before witnessed the end-stage process of galaxy commingling, which results when the two central black holes smash into each other, releasing some pretty violent cosmic fireworks that could warp space-time itself.

The researchers, including scientists from Caltech and NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab, have theorized that an unusual light signal they're seeing from quasar PG 1302-102 -- essentially a black hole emitting light from the superheated particles swirling around its gravitational drain -- is being caused by the cosmic dance between two black holes in the system, each located less than the length of our solar system apart. The theory was published this week in the journal Nature.

While other cosmic phenomena could explain the light signature, the scientists became confident that their theory is the most likely after analyzing the quasar's light spectrum.

"When you look at the emission lines in a spectrum from an object, what you're really seeing is information about speed -- whether something is moving toward you or away from you and how fast. It's the Doppler effect," Eilat Glikman, study co-author and assistant professor of physics at Middlebury College in Vermont said in a statement.

"With quasars, you typically have one emission line, and that line is a symmetric curve. But with this quasar, it was necessary to add a second emission line with a slightly different speed than the first one in order to fit the data. That suggests something else, such as a second black hole, is perturbing this system."

If the theory is correct, study co-author S. George Djorgovski of the California Institute of Technology told The New York Times that when the two black holes collide, they could release the energy equivalent to 100 million supernova explosions, which would rip apart the galaxy in which they're floating. The collision would also release gravitational waves, ripples in the fabric of space-time predicted by Einstein's theory of general relativity, Djorgovski told the Times.

Unfortunately, astronomers hoping to witness such an event are out of luck, as the predicted union won't take place for about another million years -- a long time in human standards, but not cosmic ones. Of course, the universe itself already knows whether the theory is correct because the light we're seeing from this system, located in the Virgo constellation, comes from 3.5 billion light years away -- meaning everything we're witnessing already took place billions of years ago. But until we come up with our own way to warp the space-time continuum, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

dont believe me the evidence is there.do the research
lmao i don't have to look for evidence you do as your the one that states there is undeniable evidence that there is a GOD if so would it stand up in court ???? if your life was on the line ??? not a chance until then keep spewing your nonsense and please don't forget to give them some money when you are knee jerking on sunday if that makes you feel divine lol ask your self something why does your GOD need money in the first place from you peasants ??? couldn't he just shit some out of his or Her fat ass

See I told ya the more you think about it the more my theory on humanity being spider mites in a giants growroom makes sense.

Damn right!
If there were tiny living things living on an electron as we live on a planet, we'd never see it- too small.
Also if our planet is just an electron orbiting a central nucleus (the sun) then we'd never see it - too big.

Makes more sense than angels and demons.

there is an interesting ted talk about our advancements in nuerology

experiments being done show the activity of our thought in regards to what we think and where in the region of the brain it lies

this information was gleaned centuries if not millennium ago

alister crowley for example relied heavy upon a tome that mapped the various demons to the regions of the brains and their potential triggers

translated this means in today's sciences, they figured out the same similar mechanisms neurology is discovering today but on a different scale.

modern neurology(in this regards) is the quantum science to ancient religions and philosophies view of the world.

Both gleaned information through reverse engineering and observation of causation.

Demons and angels translate in all religions and philosophies to the different characters attributed to our human nature.

Because of the fractal nature of life, the same assumption is projected to the universe beyond us, which at least within this container called the universe, holds true.

The nature of all things in this universe is fractal.

But back to mapping neurology to philosophic ore religion.

This is the other purpose to esoteric symbols and the such. They translate back to effecting our "demonic" or "angelic" thought processes.

Now at this point many people will go "Come on man thats too far out to be real"

let me give you a very real example

Porn

images of naked people effect us, some of us profoundly.

expand on that a little because its the basic implication

herbs and the such used to do the same thing is why witchcraft was seen as working against god

using an herb to take advantage of someone is demonic using it to heal is angelic

replace angelic/demonic with good and evil and you will see how the lack of linguistic mapping between different linguistics limits understanding and how translating these meanings to their underlying nature disclose the same meaning quite well.
