We did on occasion. Shank bones are sturdy and not prone to splintering. Bonnie likes her Nylabones these days.

I can assure you that I am unlikely to see the kickoff, but don't bet against it happening, @Bababooey .

I am glad that TB no longer has TB as QB but a BM on the field has its own set of problems. I like Baker making dreams.

When I read the last four words I thought "Harry Truman" Little White House. Here's what I found.

The swords were stolen from the Truman Museum in Missouri. The Masamune sword was not stolen and is still in the museum but not on display.
yes, tb no longer has tb but is looking to score another sb win with bm
i never lost hope and was surprised when cle let his go for d.watson, especially considering his off field troubles
but everything works out in the end and tb is playoff bound
that is an awesome piece of american history re the truman sword and a lot of vets returning from ww2 brought home momentos

@shithawk420
so the yourger boy was into this kind of thing and a friend gave him this relic

its an authentic jap sword from ww2
like baba said a wood handle and the blade shows signs of wear
maybe you could check around at army surplus stores or pawn shops and see if they have anything you like

I think ive actually heard of Masamune, the sword maker, or at least some fairy tale stuff about him. Guy lived 800 yrs ago, some of his legend sounds like grimm's fairy tale stuff.
I wouldnt be surprised if some of the japanese generals or admirals gave up their swords to the US when they surrendered during WWII, that's why there's a masamune in a US presidential museum now.
I wonder if any of the masamune swords still have their original tsuka made of wood? Wood can last hundreds of years so long as it doesnt dry out or get wet too much.

Like Hawk said it might be hard to get a good sear on a bone in streak with a flat top or cast iron, some sort of grill would be better.
I havent had a steak in a while all this talk has me wanting to make one, but i have been eating a fair amount of beef roasts lately so im kinda good on the red meat.

The O/U for the rams/vikings on MNF is 47.5, so u were close, Pops. U feel like it'll easily be 48+? The O/U hasnt moved since the lines opened but the vikings are now -1 favorites, down from -2.5 at open.

Leave it to Buzz to find a real life theft of swords from a presidential library. And yeah, the Masamune sword came from Japan's defeat in WWII. Missouri isnt too far from u, Hawk, so u could see that sword if u wanted to. Well, it's not that close either...
i like 48+ and was about to joke about how i need to start adding in that .5pts
so it looks like everything is on fire right now here in socal
we are having santa ana winds gusting up and blowing everything around
add in the dry conditions and things are ripe for a fire
here by the coast nothing is burning but its like 70* outside and the winds are blowing hard
if not for the fires the weather is awesome and i might break out one of my kites and enjoy the big winds
went to the store to get fixings for pasta but they also had my big sandwiches on sale for $9! heck yeah
pasta can wait till tomorrow im eating sandwiches today
you are so right about how a bone in steak is best cooked on a grill
cast iron or broiler makes good steaks if you do them right but thats best for just the cut of meat, not bone in
i like grilling steaks

LOL! I spend a good amount of time chasing rabbits around the internet. When @shithawk420 posted about sword theft and a President I turned on the Google machine. There is much to learn and all it takes is highlighting a sentence or a phrase to start the process.

I hope the winds and fires leave you alone, @pop_rocks . Fire bad!

Baker really surprised me this year, i think he was 2nd in the league in TD passes and 3rd in pass yds. Browns really screwed the pooch trading him away and giving up three 1st rd picks for deshaun watson.

Oh yeah, i think japanese military adopted US style cavalry swords for officer weapons. I guess theyre easier to carry around than katanas. Wonder if your kid's sword ever beheaded an enemy prisoner. Probably not, you probably need a bigger blade to really cut someone's head off in 1 stroke.

Yeah Pops those fires are burning up large parts of LA now, even the Rose bowl is threatened. No rain in months and strong winds blowing embers around is a bad recipe for uncontrollable fires.
Now that the winds have died down maybe the fires will stop spreading. Is the air bad around you? I dont think SD gets bad fires, or at least they dont get too close to u?

Have u ever posted a pic of one of these sammiches, Pops? Are they pretty basic, like meat and LTO?

Tonite we have Notre dame and penn state meeting in Miami in the college football playoff semifinal. I like ND and the under but should be a close game either way.

look at you go snooping and pooping in all corners of the internet
there are tons of cool stories out there and often fact is stranger than fiction
yessssss fire bad
/you know im going to reuse that gif!

I've cast iron tbones before.it was alright View attachment 19129076
that is a decent looking steak man and it looks like you did a nice job getting a sear on it
plus the pat of butter!
#chefs kiss!
san diego is not on fire right now, there have been some spot fires and i think there might be one out in the back country but for the most part the worst ones are up in la like @Bababooey said
i talked to my sister this mornin and they are having the snow -pocolyspe now where she lives, with several inches of snow overnight and more expected
baker was the dream maker this year and embiggened the whole offense with his play
the sword is about as long as your arm, but cavalry swords were made shorter, its still plenty sharp and if you spent some time on it with a wet stone it could be crazy sharp, but he just likes it as a collectable
i dont think i have pics of the big deli sandwich from vons
so it turns out i do have a pic of one!! from before
sandwich.jpg

isnt that a total fat kids move! but you can see they had them on sale for less then $9
the one i got this time was on their everything bread that was like your typical hero but they also have a roast beef one (excellent) and the one pictured above which is like a ham and turkey number
it has lettuce and cheese on it so i will dress it up when i get home
/step one is i rip out a lot of the extra bread and add mustard to it

Maybe Buzz liked to peruse the library back in the day, before the internet, to read up on things he didnt know about. With modern tech, he can do all his research from the comfort of home.

There's a fancy steakhouse chain called Ruth's Chris that does melted clarified butter over their steaks before serving, think the plate it's served on is hot as well, the whole thing is sizzling when they serve you.

Yeah the other CFP semifinal between TX and OSU is tomorrow in Dallas at the cotton bowl, it might affect travel to the game. They dont have salt or snow plows so if it snows 1 inch in Dallas it's like a blizzard in the midwest or NE, everything gets shut down.

I doubt it'll be necessary but even the NFL is prepared to move the MNF Rams-vikings game to AZ because of the wildfires.

That's almost a 2lb sangweech, Pops, so now i know why one lasts u at least 2 meals.
Ripping out the inside of the bread keeps the calories down, how do u dress it up? Thin sliced onions, pickles, mayo, etc?
